Today in the United States, some people say that it tends to be fascism like 1930s in Germany. Then, what is fascism? Fascism is defined as one of the form of political organization that is more totalitarian and nationalistic, and it is against liberalism and communism. One of its characteristic is being a dictator (Meikyo Japanese dictionary,2010). In this report, I will analyze what is the similarity and difference between the social movement today in the US and 1930s in Germany. There is one similarity between them. At first, we should keep in mind that the key person of them. They are Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler. Similarity is the way of promoting to the mass of people. In 1930s, Nazi made efficient use of thorough propaganda like posters, newspapers and pamphlets. Propaganda at that time were made perfectly considering how people think and behave(Stark). That is the form of anti-fascism. In the conflict of Charlottesville occurred in August 2017, antifa (anti-fascism) people appeared. They didn’t have formal organization, but they have been growing these days (Steinmetz,2017). In Charlottesville, white supremacists and neo-Nazis were physically conflicted with Antifa (Stockman, 2017). It is said that both of them had responsibilities. This means that Antifa in the US had power as strong as fascism group On the contrary, there were some anti-Nazi group in 1930s in Germany. One of the anti-Nazi group was the White Rose. Scholl brothers distributed anti-Nazi pamphlet as members of the group. However, they were arrested by Gestapo and executed (,2012). This means that fascism was stronger than anti-fascism.
