Each team member had to come up with an idea to the table with a problem that needs to be solved since our team has three team members we have three problems to start with. The first problem was one that focused on inefficiencies and waste more specifically water waste. It considered the idea of making a green roof here at tech. Use very specific plants that are placed on the roof with soil and water collection and filters underneath the soil and plants act as a natural insulation keeping heat in the building in the winter and cool air in the building during the summer. Next using plants and soil water usually comes out cleaner than it does going in because the soil acts as a filter but adding extra filter would help, but the water being collected …show more content…
A lot of the solutions were brainstormed as a group from past experiences, we did do a little bit of research though. One thing we learned while doing research is that some colleges do not allow freshmen to have cars on campus [1]. Colleges seem to have many reasons for doing so some of the relevant reasons are that the college recognizes that there is not enough parking space around campus for the students and employees. Others are to get freshmen involved on campus and since freshman now have a new feeling of freedom the college attempts at protecting them from being able to drive home after a party [1]. Since tech has not really had a huge parking problem before students are starting to see signs that parking is becoming an issue one of the red flags that happened this year is that the prices went up on parking permits which shows signs of conflict with supply and demand. More demand than we have supply usually results in prices going up in hopes that people will not buy and it saves some of the supply [2]. After the team learned about some of these traits the brainstorming process went very smoothly. Some ideas that were generated was building a parking ramp, building a shuttle lot off campus, ban parking to freshman, expand current parking lots, and improving shuttle system to better utilize existing lots that are not in
Students should not feel the anxiety of being late to class based on the CSUF parking issues. Tardiness often suggests that students could be lazy or show lack of care for their education. On the other hand, tardiness may be different at a school similar to CSUF. Titan students will quickly learn that they must show up to school an hour early in order to find a parking space, if they are lucky. Due to students not being capable of finding a parking space on time, they are generally tardy to their college courses. In this case, student’s education should not be affected due to parking issues. However, colleges are not as impacted in the summer, therefore, students should not be expected to worry about finding an open location to park. Although, several students may have disagreed that the parking lot tends to be impacted in the summer as well. For example, I attend a summer course for English, having
...t their tickets in advance and get pumped to have a good time. My recommendations for tailgating would be all in the advertisement, CCU could make flyers that advertise for people to come out and tailgate before the games. Also regarding tailgating, advertise at local restaurants that they will be attending our tailgates, or even bring in more restaurants and local food places to come to the game and sell their food. There’s nothing wrong with having more food available at tailgates. My recommendations for the fan aspect of games and tailgates would be to do more fun things for the reserved tailgating they seem to be more on their own than anything, whereas if CCU put games or food by them it could make it more fun. Also, for fans CCU could make it rewarding and if they came to a certain amount of home games they could win a free Coastal football shirt or something.
The choice to lower the amount of spaces available is to leave room for a nice park. At the front of the parking lot will be a kiosk and two gates where tourists will grab a ticket and also pay as they leave. This will ensure that the fee of five dollars per hour is being paid by keeping those in who haven’t paid it. The money from that fee would go to maintain the parking lot and bettering the park. To not build a parking garage at this time may anger some businesses, but the city will agree to look into the issue again in five years and decide then what should be done, if
With small teams, I found that it was easier to come to a collective agreement. My team and I decided to collaborate on spatial design. We looked at existing classrooms and noticed our own behaviors of interacting with the current furniture and we also focused on the type of learning that was happening. By looking at that we were able to get a better understanding what could improve these classrooms.
Parking on Campus is a Pain New students entering Concordia College are not permitted to have a car on campus. With each new freshman class entering every year, parking represents an issue. Concordia is as of now constrained in its parking on campus and since first year students are not permitted to have cars, the students are confronted with the problem of having no place to park or parking very a long way from their goal. There are parking issues everywhere throughout the campus, making backups in residence hall and other lots, bringing about students parking illegally to avoid from walking far distances, which can be very aggravating in the bitter cold. Parking nearer appears like the reasonable thing to do, however it is a hazard, which
When the bell rings for students to go home the quiet and serene field of asphalt in front of school becomes a sinkhole and everyone is fighting to get out. Most school parking lots are accessible, safe, and orderly; the Hinckley-Big Rock High School parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. With so many problems, a slight redesign of the schools main parking lot would seem practical.

First, parking on campus needs improving. . Baton Rouge community college needs to expand their parking lot because it be complicated trying to find a parking spot on campus. With every new freshmen students that’s just coming out of high school is taking up most of the parking spaces. I believe parking passes should be free for students because students have to park sometimes in Mc Donald parking lot because they don’t have no other choice. Also there needs to be additional parking on campus and also for those that are visiting the campus. The parking lots have also plenty of pot holes that can damage student car and can cause a flat tire. If a student hit another student car it’s hard to find out who did it because there isn’t enough policemen out in the parking lots looking. Brittany
The focus of this paper is to dispel a common view that community colleges do not provide on-campus housing and to provide greater insights into the types of community colleges that provide on-campus housing, the typical student who resides in on-campus housing, a guide to various California community colleges that provide on-campus housing, and the impact that on-campus housing has on student learning outcomes, financial gains for community colleges that provide on-campus housing, and an overview of the lack of data in the area of not only on-campus housing in community colleges, but community colleges at large. According to Cohen and Brawer (2008) access to student housing is one of the fundamental dissimilarities between public community colleges and four-year institutions of higher learning (p. 220). Cohen and Brawer (2008) take the position that community colleges lack the all-encompassing ability to appreciate the connectedness of community in the same fashion as that of four-year colleges or universities. Broader analysis of current data relating to on-campus housing in rural community colleges is three-fold. First, it exposes the lack of concrete observation or empirical data on the issues that surround community colleges with respect to on-campus housing. A wealth of data supports the learning outcomes, financial impact, gains, and drawbacks of on-campus housing, but from the vantage point of on-campus housing at the four year college or university level. Data shared were from several sources, one which dates back to 1998 and the other two from 2005 and 2006. With little research expected from community college faculty and administrators, the community college as a whole suffers from the lack of empirical studies wit...
Smoking is a problem. Student debt is a problem. Students’ picking an unhealthy lifestyle is a problem. The problems of college students are mostly spending their money on cigarettes and they don’t realize that students can be in debt. According to Tyler Kinhade a student in Temple University about 42% students who purchases cigarettes are most likely in debt cause of cigarettes. One pack of cigarettes can most about 5-7 dollars in one pack has about 20 cigarettes. Lets say a college student smoked about a half a pack a day that is about $3.50 and half a pack is 10 cigarettes 1 is around 0.25 that means in a year it can cost around $2,520 and that’s a lot of money students are spending. Now here is the problem college student are spending
Parking on campus needs improving. Students entering the university are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering parking posses a problem on campus. In college, attendance is crucial to students’ success. Being late to class can result in having less time to take a test or missing fundamental concepts that may be discussed in a classroom. Students must take responsibility by arriving on time; however, limited parking spaces and other transportation problems at many universities can cause students to be late which can result in poor academic performance. The University of Texas at San Antonio, one of most populous cities in Texas, has 29,000 enrolled students (UTSA . . .). During peak hours, one must be timely to find a parking space; many students find themselves driving in circles while hoping to find someone else leaving the campus and others wait for a shuttle bus that has a reputation of arriving late. Due to transportation problems, some students may feel unmotivated to study in the library or go to class regularly. Therefore, the University of Texas at San Antonio should improve student transportation because doing so could increase students’ academic performance.
Finding an empty parking space is a common problem in most urban areas which especially occurs in popular areas and tourist attraction spots. This situation has become more serious especially during their peak time, be it holiday seasons ,carnivals or any other festivals. The limited availability of vacant parking spaces often result in traffic congestion. Limitation of a driver’s capability of finding a vacant parking spaces and absence of efficient management are also at fault causing this problem.
