When the bell rings for students to go home the quiet and serene field of asphalt in front of school becomes a sinkhole and everyone is fighting to get out. Most school parking lots are accessible, safe, and orderly; the Hinckley-Big Rock High School parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. With so many problems, a slight redesign of the schools main parking lot would seem practical.
Anytime the idea of making any corrections or additions to the parking lot comes up in a discussion, the notion is put down due to the time the parking lot would be unusable while under renovation. How long does it take pavers to put in a residential driveway? A licensed and bonded concrete crew can lay multiple driveways in one day, and to add an entrance to the parking lot is very comparable. Therefore, if the school shut down the front parking lot for less than a week, students could enter and exit the parking lot quickly and with ease or the school could schedule the work for days the students have off..
Hinckley-Big Rock High School’s parking lot offers no security from hazards entering it. When a parking lot is with-in shouting distance to cornfields, where deer tend to congregate, it makes sense to have a guardrail around the perimeter of it. Not only would this stop the occasional wild animal from wandering into the parking lot, but it would help to keep cars that go off the road in front of the school from entering it. S...
The number of complaints relating to Cal State Fullerton’s parking is out of control. Considering the prices CSU Fullerton charges to park at their school, students should be guaranteed a parking space. Students are currently outraged regarding the Cal State Fullerton’s parking conditions. Some students even decide to not attend the school based on the pricing and availability of parking. A school losing an immense number of students only because of the parking situation is insane. Cal State Fullerton should reduce the pricing towards parking for reasons of availability, cost, and profit.
There are too many deer in the Wesselman Woods. The deer have eaten all the flowers and other flora. There have also been 8 car crashes involving deer, this imposes a dangerous threat to the civilians of Evansville. The deer have been invading people’s yards and eating their gardens. The deer are causing many problems that can’t be solved until the deer population is reduced.
is the best thing for the population of deer in Alabama, as well as people who live
White tailed deer are the largest game animal in North America. This is due to their over abundance and annoyance to farmers. An average of 300000 deer are hunted down each year. A tragedy has been another 3000 are hit by cars every year. Many human efforts have been made to prevent these accidents, such as fencing and deer repellents near freeways, but many seem to think that hunting and controlling the population is the best way.
The Hobbit begins with introducing our hero, Bilbo Baggins, who is a respectable hobbit that lives in the Shire. His ordinary life is a middle-aged hobbit that does not go on adventures, even though he longs to do something exciting like his deceased mother. His call to adventure starts with Gandalf the Gray, a wizard, who was also a friend of his mother. Gandalf shows up to try and convince Bilbo that he is needed for an adventure, though he does not go into detail about what the adventure would entail. Gandalf leaves after Bilbo refuses the call to adventure and wishes him a good day. He is later surprised by a company of dwarves that show up during dinner time, this moment is in which I believe to be a second call to adventure for Bilbo. They explain to Bilbo about their journey and how it is meant to help take back their mountain from Smaug the dragon. This conversation really begins to ignite Bilbo’s desire to leave the Shire and travel with them, though he again refuses the call to adventure that night. The morning after dinner he suddenly decides to accept the call and races out his door to meet up with the dwarves. He then spends the rest of the movie working through the rest of the hero’s
On their journey, Bilbo and the dwarves face dangerous encounters with trolls, elves, goblins, wolves, and giant spiders. Using wit and charm, Bilbo and Gandalf save their fellow friends
Human-wildlife conflicts are any problems that occur between humans and wildlife in direct correlation with living in close proximity with one another. For example, since the animals and the humans live so close to one another, a panther would sooner or later, come across a road or highway (Defenders of Wildlife). The panthers are in a dangerous situation of becoming roadkill because their habitats coexist with the development of roads in southern Florida. Just how dangerous is the road for the Florida panther? According to Defenders of Wildlife, twenty-five panthers were killed by vehicles in 2014 alone. More than a quarter of the total population of the panther became roadkill. On the other hand, certain preventative measures are being taken in order to keep the people and the panthers safe. Moreover, slow speed zones and wildlife crossings are being established where panthers live (Defenders of Wildlife). Defenders of Wildlife are also helping by installing a system which they call a Roadside Animal Detection System (RADS). Furthermore, RADS is being observed in US-41 and Big Cypress National Preserve (Defenders of Wildlife). Also, one of the other ways Defenders is trying to help is through the construction of additional wildlife crossing. The additional wildlife crossings work by providing a tunnel that goes underneath the road to provide safe
When looking at the aftermath of the atomic bomb in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima the devastation it caused is evident. The majority of the population in Japan could have never imagined such a catastrophic event. On August 6, 1945 and August 9, 1945 massive amounts of lives were changed forever when an atomic bomb fell from the sky and created an explosion as bright as the sun. These two bombs were the first and only accounts of nuclear warfare. (“Atomic Bomb is…”) The impact that the two bombs left on the cities of Japan was tremendous. The bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima devastated the country through structural damage, long term medical effects, expenses, and the massive loss of life.
Deer overpopulation leads to an abundance of complications. Deer damage the small gardens and lawns of many homeowners and for those living inside the city limits the only feasible response is spraying chemical deterrents, a painstaking process that decreases in
First, one of the major physical features of the school is that we share areas with our neighboring high school. One example is that we share the track with them. This is great because we only use the track for about twenty minutes per gym period and about two months for sports, track and field. Having our own track would be a waste of money and space. Another reason why this is an excellent idea is because it gives the students the opportunity to interact with one another. Talking to older and experienced high schoolers will help middle schoolers when they get to high school. These are just a couple reasons why sharing areas with the high school is a stupendous idea.
Parking on campus needs improving. Students entering the university are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering parking posses a problem on campus. The campus is already limited in its parking on campus and since freshmen are allowed to have cars, the students before them are faced with the dilemma of how many new freshmen will be bringing a car to school.
Another solution could be to put a post along the front and back of each row of parking. This could help students to see where the first and last car should go and then the rest of the row could line up with the cars that are parked there. Doing this wouldn’t be the most ideal solution but it would help our parking lot become a little bit more organized than it is in the
When the “Little Boy” was dropped on Hiroshima in less than a second it the fireball had consumed 900 feet of land. The damage only got worse from there on. As time ticked by two-thirds of Hiroshima’s buildings were destroyed and a black rain fell down on places untouched by the bomb. Black rain is dirt, dust, soot and highly radioactive particles that were sucked into the air at the time of the fireball. At this point America knew what is was doing yet they continued to wreck Japan. When the second bomb, “Fat Man”, was dropped on Nagasaki the terror was just the same. In seconds 40 percent of Nagasaki was in ruins. Not only did it blow apart everything in sight, but it also haunted the crops and lives for years after the bomb. “Two years after the bombing plants growing at ground zero presaged the frightening
I was thinking days and nights about how do I see myself in future. There were three options for me: an engineer, lawyer or psychologist. I liked the idea of being a lawyer because I like to change people’s opinions on particular cases even if their opinions are right. I liked to see myself as psychologist because I love to help people with their personal problems, give them the best advice, and watch how my advices work. It was a hard decision for me but my cousin and his friends helped me to find out what I really want. Some of them are mechanical engineers, they told me in details how my future will look like after I get my degree. After I counted all pros and cons I have chosen to be an engineer because it is the thing I am ready to go for. The main reason why I chose to be a mechanical engineer is to make people’s life simpler and easier. Basically all the mechanisms purposes are to save time because time is too valuable to waste it. In fact the technologies we use every day has been invented, designed and made by people. Why I can’t be a person who does
A lot of the solutions were brainstormed as a group from past experiences, we did do a little bit of research though. One thing we learned while doing research is that some colleges do not allow freshmen to have cars on campus [1]. Colleges seem to have many reasons for doing so some of the relevant reasons are that the college recognizes that there is not enough parking space around campus for the students and employees. Others are to get freshmen involved on campus and since freshman now have a new feeling of freedom the college attempts at protecting them from being able to drive home after a party [1]. Since tech has not really had a huge parking problem before students are starting to see signs that parking is becoming an issue one of the red flags that happened this year is that the prices went up on parking permits which shows signs of conflict with supply and demand. More demand than we have supply usually results in prices going up in hopes that people will not buy and it saves some of the supply [2]. After the team learned about some of these traits the brainstorming process went very smoothly. Some ideas that were generated was building a parking ramp, building a shuttle lot off campus, ban parking to freshman, expand current parking lots, and improving shuttle system to better utilize existing lots that are not in
