“Some of the most congested roadways in Utah, for 20 minutes twice a day during the school year, are the parking lots at your local schools” (Deseret News). A congested parking lot filled with inexperienced high school student drivers is not a good situation, especially during the winter months. This situation is especially scary when students at Springville High School have to attempt to park between the lines without actually being able to see them. It’s harder than it seems. You would think that after parking there for a while you would have an idea of where the lines are and where you usually park. However, once the lines are covered by the snow, the parking lot becomes a jumbled up mess and nobody has any idea what they are doing. …show more content…
It’s almost like everyone forgets everything they’ve learned about parking and do whatever they feel like doing. The parking lot at Springville High School does not get plowed in the winter, leading to unsafe conditions for students, teachers, and faculty. When the parking lot is not plowed cars can lose traction very easily, putting them at a higher risk of causing an accident. High school students are very inexperienced drivers, especially when it comes to driving in the snow, which puts everyone at risk of getting in an accident. Some students don’t take the safety of others or themselves into account. They do donuts or speed through the parking lot because it’s fun. I have to admit that it is fun, however, it should not be done when there are several hundred cars in the parking lot. A snow covered parking lot also makes it very hard to park in an organized way. “The parking lot is ridiculous! No one knows how to park in line with the other cars. And it’s like a maze finding your way out!” says Lela Packard. Most students are able to gain a sense of where the lines are and park in the general area. While other students take the snow as an invite to park wherever and however they want. They are the type of people that park the opposite way of everybody else, or box people in because they think it’s funny. Parking wherever they want causes the aisles between stalls to be very skinny, making it hard for cars to fit through. Everyone in the parking lot also tend to take up more room for their car which makes it so that there isn’t enough room for all of the cars in the parking lot. I personally am always scared to park in the school parking lot in the winter because I feel unsafe and that I am at a high risk of being hit by someone else or be the one to cause an accident.
I know that there are many other students that feel the same way about this problem. Erika Crystal said, “The parking lot is completely insane and people just park wherever they want, not even trying to see the lines. I’ve been boxed in before and it isn’t fun. Accidents are just waiting to happen.” One of the ways that we can solve this problem is by hiring a snow plow to come in every morning before students start arriving and plow the snow so that is clear and safe for students to park. This would be a simple and easy solution to the problem. All we would have to do is hire someone that would be willing to plow the school parking lot and pay them enough for the work. The city does not plow the parking lot because it is not one of their top priorities. Another solution could be to put a post along the front and back of each row of parking. This could help students to see where the first and last car should go and then the rest of the row could line up with the cars that are parked there. Doing this wouldn’t be the most ideal solution but it would help our parking lot become a little bit more organized than it is in the
winter. My last solution is to have the school officer, city officers, and anyone else who has the capability of giving out tickets, give them out to people who are parking badly or taking advantage of the lines being covered. This would give people an incentive not to park wherever they want and to actually try to park in a stall. It would also scare people into parking as normally as possible. A lot of boys think it’s funny to park wherever they want and to box cars in and make things harder for everyone else. So, I think that this solution would help with this problem. Students at Springville High School should become more aware of their surroundings while in the parking lot during the winter months. Try to find an object near the spot you usually park in. Memorize where it is and when the snow comes you will be able to have general idea of where you should be parking. I encourage everyone to do their best to park as good and as organized as possible to ensure the safety of everyone at our school.
Students should not feel the anxiety of being late to class based on the CSUF parking issues. Tardiness often suggests that students could be lazy or show lack of care for their education. On the other hand, tardiness may be different at a school similar to CSUF. Titan students will quickly learn that they must show up to school an hour early in order to find a parking space, if they are lucky. Due to students not being capable of finding a parking space on time, they are generally tardy to their college courses. In this case, student’s education should not be affected due to parking issues. However, colleges are not as impacted in the summer, therefore, students should not be expected to worry about finding an open location to park. Although, several students may have disagreed that the parking lot tends to be impacted in the summer as well. For example, I attend a summer course for English, having
The purpose of this lab was to discover how diverse the parking lot at Bunker Hill High School could be, by finding out the Shannon Wiener biodiversity index of the parking lot. The parking lot was used because it does not have much immigration and emigration of the cars. Using an actual ecosystem in the wild would be hard to control, what is immigrating and emigrating out of the experiment. The experiment shows how diverse the cars were, and this can show how diverse an actual ecosystem was during that time of the experiment. This then tells that diversity does matters because if everyone had the same kind of car, then no one would be different. However, if the students, faculty, and guests had a variety of cars in the parking lot, which made the experiment more diverse in the parking lot or the community of cars.
...tremely difficult to see what held up the different lines from one scenario to the next. We think that things may have been related to the finger scanning machines but could not make accurate conclusions from our vantage points. Though both parks forced our observers to walk around to getter a better view of the patrons entering the park it was for very different reasons. At IoA our observers had to maneuver themselves around the crowd to get a decent view of the line that was otherwise blocked by the large lines forming early in the morning. However, by the time we got US the lines had thinned significantly, even to the point where some gates were empty of patrons trying to get in. Because of this our observers had to move far from the documenter in order to retrieve accurate data as often as possible.
Gender and Race play the most prominent role in the criminal justice system. As seen in the movie Central Park 5, five African American boys were charged with the rape of the a white women. In class decision we’ve discussed how the media explodes when it reports cross-racial crimes. The Central Park 5 were known everywhere and even terms were being made up during the process such as wilding. Also, during one of the class discussions it was brought up that victims of crime are of the same race of the perpetrator. However, the media likes to sensationalize crime of the victim being of a different race, because it makes for a good story. By doing this, the media does create more of a division of race. As seen in the video Donald Trump was trying
...here they need to go. This makes kids late, the times ranging from forty five minutes to two hours, if the bus comes at all. All of these are major concerns, the interference with summer plans, the length of our summer, and the conditions of the roads, are significant concerns.
A higher fee would be charged to non-residents to utilize the parking lots, which will help pay for taxes that the town residents pay on the lots. The residents of the beach town would be unhappy with this decision because it makes it much harder for them to find parking for the beach. Despite that this would please the other communities because it will give them better access to the beach. They may not like the higher parking fees but the access to the beach may outweigh that downfall.
A garage floor withstands the worst of the endless parade of vehicles, equipment, pets, and people that stomp over its surface for years. This constant abuse will eventually lead to a garage floor that is damaged, stained, worn, or ugly. However, it doesn't have to remain in this condition. Garage floor resurfacing is a viable option for any homeowner seeking to renew their garage floor. The benefits of resurfacing a garage floor include:
Central Park was one of those best outdoor venues for huge concerts. But not only that, it is even one of the venue for the largest concerts ever in terms of estimated attendance. That seems quite a feat but the huge space that the park offers was able to accommodate around 980,000 attendees during Garth Brooks’ concert in 1997.
Parking on campus needs improving. Students entering the university are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering parking posses a problem on campus. The campus is already limited in its parking on campus and since freshmen are allowed to have cars, the students before them are faced with the dilemma of how many new freshmen will be bringing a car to school.

One solution for improving student transportation is offering a shuttle service. Although, UTSA already provides a shuttle service, it is limited to only two routes and can be unreliable. The transportation service at UTSA recommends waiting at the shuttle stop “30 to 45 minutes before your scheduled class time” (Business . . .). The thought of waiting in freezing temperatures trying to hide from the icy rain can be disheartening for some but it is a reality for students whose only way of transportation is through the shuttle. As a result of similar issues, Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, “provides 40 buses on 10 routes complete with GPS tracking“(Horan 52). The purpose of GPS trackin...
There are various influences on everyone’s lives while growing up. I believe the greatest of these influences is the neighborhood you grew up in. I grew up in a quite large, welcoming neighborhood. While living in this neighborhood, I was outgoing and remarkably talkative. Making friends became second nature to me. Playing outdoors from sunrise to sundown playing sports or exploring the outdoors with my friends became a daily routine for me. I was outgoing, talkative, and active. I believe this is the result of the neighborhood I grew up in.
Car pollutants cause immediate and long-term effects on the environment. Car exhausts emit a wide range of gases and solid matter, causing global warming, acid rain, and harming the environment and human health. Engine noise and fuel spills also cause pollution. Cars, trucks and other forms of transportation are the single largest contributor to air pollution in the United States, but car owners can reduce their vehicle's effects on the environment. Car pollution is one of the major causes of global warming. Cars and trucks emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which contribute one-fifth of the United States' total global warming pollution. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere, which causes worldwide temperatures to rise.

When having stop signs and traffic lights, people have a tendency to drive slower and look out for people walking in the middle of streets. To put a traffic light or a stop sign in a community, it takes a lot of work and planning from the community and the city to put one in. It is not cheap to do it either. The community first needs to take a petition around to everyone in the community and have them sign so they can take it to the board when the next city council meeting is. A couple residents will present it to the board, and they will decide weather or not to put it in or not. If not put in a lot of residents might be mad and bad things could happened to that part of the city.
