Success. The word that represents prosperity and is taught as imperative to reach. I would repeatedly find myself only associating this word with my academic intellect when it unknowingly had more value than what I held it to. With my future coming within a few months, approaching triumph was inevitably terrifying for facing adversities hindered me from embracing the process of achieving my goals. While consisting of excitement yet fear, being a teenager instills enlightening challenges, leading to fundamental wisdom. Overall, this milestone of maturity is full of bittersweet moments to remember for a lifetime. But, most importantly, this stage of growth becomes immensely constructive because these lessons aren’t always taught in the school curriculum. Entering my junior year into high school, I anticipated stress making me dread the summer coming to an end. With being a tenacious student came rigorous courses and even higher expectations. Being the student that I was, this lifestyle was an indifferent, conditioned …show more content…
But once again, I was wrong. With the emergence of senior year came the hectic college preparation process. But, in spite of being supported by the loved ones that knew that I would be graduating soon, it was arduous to believe in myself through it all. Over time I began to suffer from multiple mental breakdowns that progressively got worse leading to intense feelings of emptiness. My long-awaited days that were supposed to consist of relaxing and having fun turned into a noxious battle with my internal demons. Due to the continuous concern I had about how my future would be, I could no longer look forward to what senior year had in store for me. With this, I allowed my academic profile to define who I was as a person. And as a result, the alacrity I possessed gradually slipped from my hands at

In view of this “illness,” junior year also takes a toll on individuals. There is the ACT and the pressure to obtain a certain score to receive a scholarship or to be admitted into a dream school. As a matter of fact, the college application process is exhausting in itself. The stress seniors build up before they click
Anxiety ran throughout my entire body the morning before my first class of college began. Not knowing what to expect of my professors, classmates, and campus scared me to death. I knew the comparison to senior year of high school and freshman year of college would be minute, but never did it occur to me how much more effort was need in college until that morning, of course. Effort wasn’t just needed inside of the classroom with homework and studying but also outside of it where we are encouraged to join clubs, get involved and find a job. Had I known the transformation would be so great, I’d have mentally prepared myself properly. It’s easy playing “grown-up” in high school when one doesn’t have to pay expensive tuitions, workout a
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
You’re walking through the doors to the next four years of your life. You picture one big day coming out of the four years spent here. Graduation day. Walking across the stage with your cap and gown on along with the rest of your class. The feeling of accomplishment. Finally, after all those years of going to school, it comes down to this day. Suddenly, dark clouds start rolling in and lighting strikes. You’re half way through sophomore year and its all taken away. Graduation is just a dream you once had. No more school, no more hanging out with friends and no more school events. It’s time to grow up, leave school behind and start to help supporting your family. This is the new life that many teenagers are being forced to live.
I have always had a passion to learn. My interest is in political theory and economics, hoping someday to become a lawyer and stateswoman. I realize that in order to reach any of these goals, a college degree is vital. When I in turn reach my goals, I will use them to encourage and uplift my community by investing my time, money, energy, and influence to become a stepping stone for others.
Subject: Request for Admission Term Movement or Extension Good Afternoon Sir/Ma’am, This email is in regards to the phone conversation I had with Mr. Washington from the admissions office on October 16, 2015, explaining the steps required to resolve this issue. Request: • I am respectfully requesting that my Fall 2015 Transfer Admission be moved to Spring 2016, or that I am able to get an extension that allows me to apply for Spring 2016. Reasons and Issues: • I received my acceptance letter approximately 2 weeks after I finished enrolling in UT Arlington’s Computer Science program, and was unable to attend UT Austin for this semester. • I immediately called the admissions office to confirm whether or not I needed to apply for Spring 2016,
The process of choosing a school is an exciting time, as you consider where and how you want to live. As I’ve gone through this process, one of the challenging aspects has been determining what areas I am most likely to study and perhaps pursue as a career. Throughout my school years, I have always strived not only to succeed in all classes, but also to obtain knowledge in a variety of areas. I have enjoyed learning Spanish, debating U.S History, reading and evaluating literature. However, over the past year, as I’ve considered my future education, it has become clear I am most interested in focused academic study in areas of sciences and engineering, with particular interest in practical application of these studies—which I believe makes Worcester Polytechnical Institute a perfect place for me.
I realize that I’m responding quite late to have gotten your letter months ago. In my defense, time has kept me busy and has given me very exciting stories to tell you. As I read your letter, I noticed that you took a strong interest in my academics and wanted to know what I planned on doing in the future. Although it is a commonly asked question, I was anxious about how to respond. I refuse to give a rehearsed answer that I have told many people, so I decided to wait so I could give you details like no other.
Statement of Purpose My love for generating new knowledge and solving complex questions motivated me to pursue a career in scientific research. I spent my undergraduate education asking questions relating to neurodevelopmental and degenerative diseases and proposing ways to better understand related behaviors. The scarcity of treatments for such conditions invigorates my desire to investigate and find answers to complex questions in hopes of better understanding human neurological diseases. A degree in the complex field of neuroscience will expand upon my previous education in the fields of neuroscience, biology, and psychology and allow me to further understand the intricacies of the brain with a goal of investigating innovative ways of preventing, diagnosing, and treating disease.
I have always regarded myself with having the best work ethic of anyone I knew. When at high school, I thought as myself as the best all-around student, and person. Being highly regarded by both faculty and students was a great confidence boost when I began my college application process, but I soon realized how it was hard to but all of my accomplishments, into a very short essay. I was not, and still am not the best academically in my class, but to me, it doesn’t matter if my GPA isn’t a 4.0 or if I didn’t graduate valedictorian of my class. What I know is I possess skills that make me the best candidate for anything I want to pursue.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Soren Kierkegaard stated, “life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.” My life in the past and present create my future. Never easy, human beings push through a difficult life. Life is only understood backwards because we are in the present and no longer in the past. Humans can’t live life thinking about what they did wrong or right in the past. If we focus on what it could be like in the future, we will have no problem facing challenges in the near future.
