Legos were a big part of my childhood as I would spend hours building houses, fascinated with the physics behind my creations. Excelling in the areas of science and math and immersing myself in a robust amount of science-technology courses has led me to pursue a career in engineering. As a future engineer, seeing a project come to life is a satisfying experience I anticipate to have. To experience this, a college education is needed to develop projects that will make this dream become a reality. It is my goal to work alongside others to develop energy solutions in developing communities, as I plan to pursue a degree in energy systems engineering.
My curiosity to understand the complexity of abstract math problems and how things work, has shaped my academic interests in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Math has always been my strong suit because I easily comprehend complex problems. My passion for this subject has guided my interests in engineering and physics, to suffice my curiosity to understand how objects interact. Combining interdisciplinary concepts to formulate an answer is an “Ah-ha” moment that reminds me to embrace challenges, since all my hard work will come to fruition. I will attend Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering. Throughout college, I want to earn a spot on the Dean’s list each semester. I also plan to take part in co-ops to gain experience and understand the parallels between practice and theory. In addition, it’s my goal to become a member of MMA’s Regimental Staff to gain leadership experience that will prepare me to enter the workforce with confidence. College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
The contemporary world is full of marvels. Technological advances have enabled mankind to fly in the heavens, instantaneously communicate with distant relatives thousands of miles away, construct buildings that are able to withstand many natural disasters, cure deadly diseases, and even travel to and study areas beyond the confines of planet Earth. While there are many factors that contributed to man’s ability to overcome what many once thought were impossible feats, it is the study of engineering that has enabled one to study the elements and leverage all that they have to offer. Mathematics lies at the heart of all science, including engineering. Without progressions in mathematical concepts, engineering principles and applications would not have advanced as quickly as they have throughout history.

Maths and physics have always fascinated me and from an early age I knew that it was in the science based subjects that my interests and greatest ability lay. Although I have enjoyed the challenge that my school-based work has given me, I have always sought to extend my knowledge in these subject areas by considering the application of the theory we learn within the curriculum to the real world. This desire to learn how theory can be applied in real life allowed me to greatly enjoy the mechanics modules of my further maths A-level to such a degree that I knew that engineering would be the ideal subject to study at the highest level. West Africa is predominantly Francophone, therefore as a little girl growing up in Ghana which is bordered by Francophone countries, I made it my goal to learn to speak the French language despite its difficulties. I failed in all my French classes so much that my Senior High School French teacher advised me to drop French since I was doing so well in Economics, English and History. Now, several years later, I graduated from the University of Ghana with a Degree in English and French against all odds. My passion to be a world changer ignites in me the desire to move on despite challenges. I was the first Ghanaian student to be appointed an Intern at the Ghana Embassy in Cote d'Ivoire after its war amidst discouragements from other students that were at the University of Cocode with me in Abidjan.
In the fall of 2018, I will attend Undecided University to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Throughout college, I intend to take part in co-ops to attain experience in the industry and understand the parallels between practice and theory. In addition, I plan to become a member of SCHOOL’s American Society of Civil Engineers club to further my technical background knowledge and communication skills that will prepare me to enter the workforce with confidence. Upon graduation, I hope to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam to become licensed, which is vital for employment. Having a college education will help me achieve my long-term goal of working overseas to improve facilities to withstand natural disasters.
Everything you see, everything you touch, every direction you turn, you are surrounded by the beautiful world of Engineering. The world functions effectively because of engineering. The beautiful aspect being the ability to create, utilize resources, and bring something into existence that will change or construct something beneficial to humanity. There is not a more exciting field to be involved in, especially now, as the on demand world continues to thrive and advance into new levels. Electrical Engineering (EE) is the field that interests me most though I am open to other fields of Engineering if I find I am drawn to something specific as school progresses. I am a person who has always had a profound passion and fascination for areas requiring an analytical approach. Right from early days at school, Mathematics has intrigued me.
