"Passion for Fashion" is too cliché. I'm guessing about 50% of people who submit their essays have that phrase. Of course I have passion, but it is more than that. Singer machine, merrow machine, blind machine and cover stitch were always around me as a child and until now it is around me. My mom, who is my biggest influence, has been a seamstress for the past 40 years. After graduating from high school, I have helped her and her alteration business as an assistant tailor. Even though I've helped her as an assistant tailor, my passion was not in the fashion field at that moment. I’ve wondered around because I didn’t know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was confused, depressed, and lost. I was going through my quarter-life crisis. …show more content…
My chances were running out and I couldn’t picture myself doing anything else that wasn’t my biggest passion. Finally realizing fashion was always around waiting for me, I’ve taken this opportunity as my last chance to make my dream a reality. At first, I didn’t know which school was right for me. I always knew that FIT and Parsons was the Top 2 fashion schools in NYC. What I didn’t know was that FIT offered a Menswear major and it was the only school that offered the program. That’s when I knew FIT was the school for me. My mom didn’t support the idea when I first told her. She wanted me to study a program that would get me a stable job such as engineers, mechanic, or something in the computer field. I’ve told her my plans and my passion for menswear. After hours of talking, she finally gave me the green light and told me that I have her full support. I was one step closer to achieving my goal. People ask me why a big guy like me, who looks like he doesn’t belong in this field, wants to study men’s fashion. I tell them it’s because I’m confident and I know I’m going to do well. One day, I want to show everyone who has doubted me and made fun of me that when you have the passion and when you are confident, you can succeed. I believe that Fashion Institute of Technology will offer me the desired skills while furthering my knowledge in men’s
This profession also has a large business aspect to it and that intrigues me a lot. I have grown up always listening to my dad talk about business and the market and how “the business world” is very important, I’ve have just become more and more interested in finding out all about that. The world of fashion is something that I have always wanted to be a part of, and now, I am working my way there.
As the end of my senior year in high school approached, I had to make an important decision. What school was I going to spend the next few years of my life at? When the financial aid packages arrived, I was torn between two colleges. After sitting down with my mother and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of both schools, I came to my final decision. It seemed like a year ago I was imagining what college life would be like and suddenly before my eyes, I would be a college student in a matter of four months.
When you love to do something, you want to do it every day, all the time, till you get sick of it. Even then that excitement and devotion to do it is still there. That is how I feel about art. I have a great passion for it. It is a form where I can express myself in a way words can’t.
A love of fashion, an eye for detail, good communication skills, sewing skills, creativity, the ability to keep up with current trends and work well with others are all vitally important if you’re trying to obtain a fashion career. However, obtaining these qualities alone still is not enough to succeed in the fashion indus...
Why do I want to go to Fit, well that is a million dollar question and I finally am able to answer it. Well most kids my age will be graduating this coming May, I am starting all over again as a transfer student studying a future career in unchartered territory. When I was younger I was never really given the opportunity to voice my opinion being that I was the youngest in my family. I always did what I was told to do and never did what I wanted to do. It took me what seem to be ages in my perspective to figure out what I actually wanted to do in life as a career.
From the moment I starting my educational path I knew four years wouldn’t be enough to fill me with all the dimensions of the fashion industry. This led me to make my decision to apply for the M.S. Global Fashion Enterprise degree. When asked how this program at Philadelphia University would benefit me, I will begin by giving a background on my previous education. I started my undergraduate degree at Buffalo State College in upstate New York pursuing a Bachelor degree in Fashion Merchandising. After being in the program for a year I was confident in knowing I needed a change. My journey changed drastically when I moved down to sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I transferred to the Art Institute under the same major. I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fashion Merchandising come this June 2014. My experience at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has uncovered my love of education and research.
Once I had adequately honed my abilities I would get a degree in fashion design. While I was doing that I would procure a fashion internship to make it into the fashion community and last but not least,
My passion started with a few insane thoughts as this. However, I am infatuated with what I am doing, following my aspiration. Therefore, day-by-day, I proceed to discover, update the world’s latest fashion trends through well-known websites including Lookbook.nu, Polyvore…and learn from popular fashion illustrators, especially Hayden Williams, who is one of my favorites. A majority of people in my country entirely worried about future career, salary and promotion…which leads to their dishonesty about what they want to be. Even so, I wish to become myself, not anyone else.
I don't have a specific person as my inspiration when it comes to fashion. When it comes to clothes as long as I see anyone wearing stylish yet comfortable clothes, anyone can be my inspiration. Everyone viewer clothes differently whether they hang them up as idols in a sanctuary or lying around somewhere on your bedroom floor. To me, clothes can be seen as souvenirs you collect along the way in your lifetime that can carry a favourite memory. Just like a souvenir from an occasion. "To me, clothing is a form of self-expression- There are hints about who you are in what you wear"- Marc
I never fell in love with fashion per se. Instead, fashion has always occupied a corner of my mind for as long as I can remember. I would spend hours in the changing rooms of big retail stores, trying on every style that caught my eye. I’ve always enjoyed dressing up because the ever-shifting trends provided room for boundless experiments and because fashion offered a window through which I could voice my individuality, loud and clear. Integrating strategy with taste has always been my strong suit, so a job in merchandising came naturally to me.
Ultimately, throughout my life, I will launch my own collection and consult a firm on fashion industry. First of all, as I am looking forward to be a fashion company consultant, not a fashion designer, studying on fashion merchandise is more beneficial than any other majors. Since, LIM particularly focus on fashion merchandising, learning earned from LIM will assist me to leap several obstacles toward my dream. Second, I believe it is helpful to live in the actual field, where I am surrounded with the ones who lives with fashion. I have a belief that students with precise future plans are more likely to succeed and also people around them would be able to get positive influences.
I am an artist and food is my favorite medium. A painting no matter how beautiful could never compare to the power that food holds in this world. Food brings people together, it blends countess cultures, shows generational history, and it’s techniques look towards the future but without losing it’s past. It is the one medium that will never die out and the one that means the most to me. Ever since I was little cooking fascinated me.
...is instilled in me, that I must gain as much knowledge as possible in order to succeed in life. In the fashion industry, one must continue to learn about the world around them in order to keep up with the changes in the industry. There are many different ways today that I can keep up with what is going on in the fashion world without going to school, but school will prepare me for the challenges that are to come. The only previous work experience that I had working in a fashion was at Mortal Kombat. I did not stay at the job very long because of personal issues that I had with staff. I feel that I need to get involved in some type of fashion job so that I can network better. Networking is essential in the fashion business, because you may never see people that you want to talk to but word-of-mouth can open doors that lead you in the direction that you wanted to go.
Following fashion styles in order to be trendy and to look different and stylish in front of others by wearing different types of clothes and accessories. Fashion can be viewed in people’s style of outlook personality with clothing and hairstyle, style of living and behaving, along with the area of personal interest. All things considered, I firmly believe that people devoted to fashion clothing could earn self-esteem and make them more confident. Nevertheless, it is significant to be original and capable of deciding what to wear by ourselves instead of following the trends without consider our personality. Needless to say, no one should discriminate someone because of not being in fashion. It is our responsibility to give the right importance to
