Coach DeLeon was a great coach to observe to gain knowledge on how to approach the attention aspect of physical education and keeping the kids interested in the class. When it came to obtaining the kids attention, basically the students knew what to do pertaining to the warm up and activity. He reminded kids the importance of participation and how participating in the main purpose of PE. Students aren't graded by skill in PE but by giving an effort that's above the norm. The different strategies he used was to choose a student to lead the warm up and also choose a student that is over the activity for the day. These strategies keep the student engaged because rewards give the students confidence and interest in the class.
Coach DeLeon was a great coach to observe to gain knowledge on how to figure out a solid routine in which each class and age group can grasp. Coach start by making sure each student is in line, following directions, and ready to proceed to the lesson. The first thing he does before starting anything is a warm up. He used cones to be a guideline on where the students should be standing. He make sure each student has enough space in between each other to prevent injury. Once the students are properly aligned, he begins the warm up that consists of static

stretches and light exercises any age group can do. Once the warm up was finished the activity began. The students knew the warm up and exactly how he wanted it to go. Each transition from the warm up, to the activity, then cool down was smoothly transitioned with minor behavior issues. Coach Deleon did an outstanding coach to watch just from the way he handle situations and also how he handle disciplinary issues.
When it pertains to the behavior of the students, as a whole the discipline of the school is pretty good with only a few disciplinary problems. The handling of the students who would misbehave was firm and understandable. First coach will give a warning for the first offense. After that he would bring the student to the side and explain the consequences that will follow if the student decides to act up again. If the child misbehave for the third time, it was a phone call home or ISS was the punishment. This method was successful from my knowledge and
observation. With the certain situation the school was in after the hurricane, Physical Education didn't have a designated room. To accommodate for the lack of work space and area, PE had to be done inside the teachers classroom or outside. With that being said, the objective was verbally stated before each class on what the students had to do and whats expected of them. The students knew exactly how to behave and perceive the information that was being told to them. The lesson or activity the students had to do was explained in detail and the warm up was already instilled in them so they knew exactly what to do and how it needs to be done properly in order to start the activity.
In order to see outcomes in this area of improvement, we as coaches must re-evaluate not only our athletes, but, in addition, our coaching styles. Of course, we all want to tell ourselves that we are great coaches and it's the athletes who are not following direction...
In one of the games played in the movie one team member injured his hands, the coach was there to show support and to reassure him and the other players. He also gave them inspirational speech about why they are playing, not just for the people or the town but because they love baseball, and because of how they want to be remembered. His motivational technique fall under the interactional-centered view. He motivated them depending on their individual characteristics and also motivated them depending on the situation. Mitch Akers a teen that was going through trouble times after losing his mom, benefited from coach Stock style of motivational technique, he had lost his way and he helped him get back on track. He gave him a shot, understood his potential and helped him become a better player, a better son. When the team lost confidence on their last game, he assessed the situation and gave a speech that motivated the players, he used the situation to his
The school is to protect the students from any wrong doing towards them. Such act, parents, school official and other authorities will be contacted. The case in Oakland County MI, opens many eyes for students and parents. The school board has responsibility to report such harm. This is not taken lightly, serious offense. Students could face years in prison, or face felonies.
Coaches should have an arrangement of fundamental abilities that they depend on to produce a positive outcome. Definition of a coach from the American Heritage Dictionary, Third Edition (page 167) One who trains or directs an individual or team, to train or instruct teach a team. The goal behind coaching is to exhibit the ability to get the most out of everyone on the team. It should be a goal to bring out the greatest potential from every team member. It’s insane how many players do not even know their true potential. Successful coaches assess these individuals and the team to advance them to the next level of sports. "The Little Book of Coaching, Motivating People to be Winners" by Ken Blanchard and Don Shula (2001) gives a great acronym of the word C-O-A-C-H. The acronym breaks down as follows: Conviction Driven: never compromise your beliefs-Overlearning: practice until it is perfect-Audible-Ready: know when to change-Consistency: respond predictably to performance-Honesty-Based: walk your talk. This acronym should remind you of your job as a coach. A good coach
The purpose of this research is to first define physical education. Then, I will explore the history of P.E. In the following section, I will compare and contrast the PE curriculum from past to present. Next, a description of the schooling requirements to become a physical education teacher will be given. Finally, I will share a reflection of my experience with an actual Physical Education teacher. Being a P.E teacher is the career I want, so why not research and get ahead on things?
I must ensure that I follow the standards and guidelines set forth in my contract. I must also follow any state, district, or school policy. To ensure that I am within my well within these guidelines, I will inform my superiors of my methods of classroom management. I will also seek prior approval for any system of classroom management that is used in my classroom. With that being said, I hope this will establish a positive and legal management system. Our textbook Teaching with Love and Logic says, “Discipline is one of the major areas in which teachers are susceptible to litigation. Teachers today must be prepared for such factors” (Funk and Fay).I also find it important to accept any input from not only families of students but fellow teachers. I know that due to my lack of experience any constructive criticism or tips would be beneficial. With that being said, I want my superiors and families to know that I will always be doing my best to guide and mentor the
This report enabled me to observe a very fine coach. I am honoured to have given the opportunity to observe Winchester public school boys’ senior basketball team coach Tom Liu during their basketball season. Coach Liu is knowledgeable about the sport he coaches and about the development of his athletes. His qualifications include NCCP level 1: volleyball, basketball, special Olympic (technical) and NCCP level 2 Theory. After observing several basketball practices and one basketball game, I’ve come to conclude coach Liu is a well respected and a good role model for his players. He provides challenging and enjoyable practice sessions. During the practices, he is able to communicate well with the athletes. He is constantly asking for the athletes’ suggestions on how to improve their strategy as a team and what the athletes feel they should work on. This allows the athletes to be involved and to develop their thinking habits. Coach Liu also provides good corrective instructions where he would pull the athlete aside and correct their mistakes either by a...
...ified by hundreds of principals, superintendents, and school board members. There are many concerns about the safety, training, organization, philosophy, communications, and general management in coaching. According to the California High School Coaching Education and Training Program as stated in the Coaching Education Legislature Assembly Bill No. 2741, “It is a conservative estimate that at least 25,000 coaches annually need training and an orientation just to meet current coaching regulations contained in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, including basic safety and CPR requirements.” That is why course techniques of coaching specific sports are necessary for a persons not trained and certified as a physical education teachers because they need to understand the basic philosophy and principles of athletics in education, know the health related aspects of athletics, and the techniques used to coach a specific sport. With every coach there are the little pieces of the game…strategy of offense and defense, practice/game planning, or scouting, but to get the whole picture they need to know the basic philosophy and principles, health aspects, and the obvious techniques.
Coach Carter taught the boys listening skills, when he gave the boys contracts and they did not treat the contracts serious. They did not listen to what the requirements of the contract were. Coach Carter showed them to listen after they had to do extra push ups and suicides when they did not listen. This taught them that they also would have to listen to people, parents, as well as teachers when they are speaking.
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching. Some questions would include: Why did he choose this as a profession? How did he get into coaching? What does one have to do to get a job as a coach? How does a coach become successful? I aim to answer all of these questions and more in my paper.

...e problem worse. So make sure to let the students know what they are doing is wrong, why it’s wrong, and get involved. Next set clear definition of bullying and enforce rules and expectations. This lets the students know what behavior is expected and sets the tone for the classroom. On top of these, it is also important to reward positive behavior, have open communication, engage parents, look for warning signs, clear the scene, monitor hot spots, and most importantly know your states laws and district policies.
I wanted to start telling the story of our experience by sharing the feelings I brought into this exercise. A few years ago I underwent an experience of coaching through several sessions that left me this taste in the mouth that the coaching as a tool to develop others is not very effective. I have not taken the time to deeply analyze what went wrong but in general if I had to choose to do it again I think I would choose another methodology to foster change. Its objective in general is to assist in building behavioral skills, but in my opinion to really look for a long lasting change you need to give a deeper understanding to the lack of a certain skills, strongly reflect on the variables linked to it as could be the emotions, values and motivations that conduce you towards a behavior different that that one desired. Personally, I enjoy seeking information that allows me to jump beyond the facts, and staying on the behavioral side of the reality limits my passion for inspiration and insight.
With the increasing of obese patients and society gradually concerned about sports levels, it is becoming essential about different participants to develop a team or individual coaching process.
In the past few years it seems that schools have really lost touch with the discipline of students. With the increasing frequency of school shootings and acts of violence it seems that the students are running the show instead of the teachers and administrators. There are many factors that are involved in creating a great classroom or a horrible classroom. From the way the teachers punish misbehaving students or the way they reward them when they do something right, to how involved the parents are with their children's education. The purpose of this paper is to explain how classroom management, when used effectively by the teacher, can produce an excellent learning environment for students.
