The video, Climate of Doubt, had a main impact on the 2008 election. Many Democratic and Republicans both talked about global warming as it was a main problem that the nation was facing. I find it very interesting that the stock market crash of 2008 was somewhat underlined compared to the issue of climate control. The video explains how both scientists and politicians took the issue of climate control into the election of 2008. The video states, that 98% of scientist agree that climate control is real and is impacting the world daily. Many scientists believe that climate control is mainly due to human interactions. Interest groups such as Heartland Institute and American of Prosperity have called climate control false. These organizations also allow politicians and scientists who do believe in climate control to have their views but want to prove them false. This was an organization devoted to solving the climate crisis. This issue came back in 2008 when Al Gore became the face of climate control. Many reports came out known as Climate Gate and the 10-year cooling pattern. These interest groups made the issue of climate control more of a theory. An example of this can be Mitt Romney with the Republican party. He had views that were similar to the Democratic party saying that we needed to pay more attention to climate control, but now knows that science on climate change is inconclusive and always changing. During the convention with many scientists, the Koch’s brothers concluded in their speech that climate control is mainly based on human interaction and that global warming is real in today’s world.
