The movie entitled “An Inconvenient Truth” is based on a cosmopolitan problem about global warming. Mr. Al Gore uses a lot of catastrophic videos to remind us the harm and damage of global warming. At the end of the movie, he illustrates some misconceptions and appeals to everyone to pay more attention to the current environment phenomenon. He thinks everyone has responsibility to protect our planet. First, Mr. Al Gore shows some global warming comparison pictures of places over several years. Some rivers become droughty, some snow mountains are melted, some glaciers retreat year by year. Some places depend on the melt water coming off the glaciers, so glaciers are very important. Al Gore describes the collision between the civilization and the earth. There’re three factors causing the situation. The first is population. With the growth of population, more food, water and other resources are demanded. Human’s activities cause the earth worse. The second factor is the scientific and technology revolution. It not only brings us benefits but also gives us responsibilities to think what the consequences if we use them. And the last factor is that we should look at how we think about it. We should realize that we are in what kind of situation today. Mr. Al Gore also tells that there are some misconceptions. The first misconception is that there is disagreement about the science, it has been deliberately created by a small group of people. And the second misconception that do we have to choose the economy and the environment? There are many contradictions between profits and environment. Many people only purse their own benefits even to destroy the ecology by any kinds of means. There are many examples to prove it. Burning fossil fuels and clearing forests not only bring people benefits but also cause the increase of carbon dioxide.
