Traveling Volleyball Team:
The advantages of this project is that I have some understanding of the sport, because my sister is the coach. Also, with her being the coach it would allow me access to practices, interviews with the girls, and also learning about something new about my sister seeing her coach rather than play. It would allow me to research the difference on being on a school team verses being on a traveling team.
The disadvantages of this project would have to be the traveling aspect. This project would cause me to drive to different locations and socialize with a whole bunch of young ladies asking me off the wall questions.

I have been around sports all my life and love that I have been able to watch and have been apart sports, but I had different aspects within my life other than sports. I think that is how sports are now and I wonder why or how we got to this stage in life when sports are careers for kids. My sister is the supervisor for the sixth floor nursing staff at United Hospital Center. I have meet most of the nursing staff and could speak to them about the culture of nightshift nursing, because to me it is a subculture.
The disadvantages of doing this project is access into the workplace. I could do interviews, listening to conversations, but I could not fully be in the workplace because of the timing of the work and the type of work they are doing as well.
The reason I am interested in doing this project is because I always hear how working with certain people can make all the different in the work. My sister use to be just a nurse, but after working two years at the hospital she advanced to supervisor when others have been working longer than her, so it interest me if things have changed for her working with the same people she now bosses. Also, why all the nurses leave to go to a different floor or place always come back to the sixth floor, is it the people, the floor, the work that make them come back. I think how the people you work with change you and how you became a family almost because of the work you are doing. They hang out with each other, go places together, have inside jokes, and truly just have the common complaints of being a nurse, but they always make sure they help each other do well when working such a hard job that truly does not get the respect it
The Varsity team lost to the JV team because they did not work together as team. Though the Varsity team consisted of high performing individuals for speed, strength, and endurance but together they lacked the cohesiveness to perform as a single unit. Also among them there were a lot of internal conflicts cropping up like blaming each other, lack of trust and confidence in the ability of others etc., which were not identified, or resolved at appropriate time. Each one did not believe he was working as a part of the team; rather they tried to maximize their individual capabilities alone. In addition the Varsity team lacked a strong leader, mostly people were disruptors.

In terms of the whole project the main issues faced were around no changes to project schedule as it is not flexible and project must be completed within 1 year and the scope must be supported and not changed, and it was challenging to find a vendor who could meet these criteria.
Every single encounter I had, including those with my peers and facilitators have left me a better nurse and person than when I arrived. Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.

Nursing units today, need to be ran like a well-oiled machine. In order to do this, everyone that makes up the nursing unit needs to understand their co-workers and what drives them professionally. There are four generations that make-up todays nursing units. I believe, if everyone had a clear understanding of what generations encompass their nursing unit there will be less conflict in the nursing unit and a better understanding of what drives each individual professionally. Which in turn, leads to nurses spending more time at the patient’s bedside, better patient care given and thus improved patient outcomes.

In class discussion we talked about how in today’s age younger kids do not have the same interest to get involved in sports as they used to. It seems that today younger kids are more interested in playing video games, then to take part in a sport and learn the team aspect of life and how to get along with each other and work as a team. Learning in sports is something people do not understand unless you are a true athlete. In the game of baseball there is so much silent communication not everyone knows about. You have nine men on the field who have the same mind set and that is to do anything you can to win this game and help your teammates. If a kid can learn this at a young age and carry this on with him through life, he will become that much of a better worker when he is at the office or wherever they might be.

If a nurse is having a really bad morning at home, she shouldn’t express her emotions while she is working with patient. The patient and the coworkers don’t need to suffer because a nurse is having a bad day. Another positive quality every nurse should have is good working habits.
