Travel teams have the best players, but being on a travel team has a cost. It’s an honor to be on a travel team because it means you’re one of the best in your area. In the article “Travel Agents for Youth Sports Teams? Not All See It as a Perk”, Tammy La Gorce explains how much of a burden it is to be on a sports travel team because of the price you pay. These travel teams have been spending a lot of money, but now people are working to help travel teams with all the
costs of going to tournaments.
Travel team arrangements are expensive, but now there are specialized travel agents that help travel teams find the best arrangements possible for tournaments that are further away. La Gorce states that hotels are indignant of sports teams because of the turmoil they cause. When

they are at a hotel, sports teams usually have parents drinking in the hallways, dirty cleats everywhere and sometimes even vandalism. If they want the bookings to be easy and quick, they need to let all these things happen. This is usually a predicament for hotels. Furthermore, there are clubs that get better treatment than the other clubs because of the fact they bring more players. They will give the club advantages like rooms closer to the field because they are getting more money from that club. Therefore, travel teams face many problems when going to tournaments because of their aspirations of being a professional in the future. I feel horrible for all the costs sports teams have to pay for in every tournament because their aspirations are at risk.
Parents could start to have a bad demeanor about their child being on a travel sports team. Parents could potentially feel this way because of how much money is coming out of their pockets when their child goes to tournaments. I feel like no matter what teens that are looking forward to a carrier in sports should be relentless in practicing and competing. I also feel that if hotels do not want the sports teams to do things like vandalism, they should make strict rules about it that can lead to consequences if not followed. It’s great how there are special agents that help sport travel teams with the costs of going to a tournament. It makes their trip way easier knowing that they are getting a great offer. La Gorce states that sports travel teams get agents because it would be a burden for them to handle all the costs. I agree with this because the coaches and parents should focus more on the teams skills and what they need to improve than the costs of going to tournaments. One can see that there are many aspects of being on a travel team that make it expensive but worth
it. Being able to have an agent that can help you with the costs of going to a tournament with a sports team is a relief for many coaches and parents. There are finally agents that work specifically towards helping sports teams with going to a tournament and staying in the budget. The article “Travel Agents for Youth Sports Teams? Not All See It as a Perk” by Tammy La Gorce make it evident that it’s a struggle to organize tournament trips, but with travel agents, it takes the weight off the team's shoulders. In conclusion, this article shows that going to tournaments can be pricey, but now there are people that are dedicated to getting the best offers for your sports travel team
Travel Team by Mike Lupica is an inspirational novel about present day sports lives in the eyes of preteens. As a “New York Times Number One Best Seller,” this story is a realistic fiction novel, using real sports athletes and NBA teams. This story is about a small point guard named Danny Walker. Although he is the only son of the professional “hometown hero,” Richie Walker, the four-eight twelve-year-old is cut from his school’s travel team due to his size. Attempting to be a factor in his child’s life, Richie Walker creates a new travel team, the Middletown Warriors, to plat all the rejected players that tried out for the main team. Throughout the season, the boys (and girl) learn discipline and legendary work tactics
The amount of unnecessary behavior by parents at youth sporting events is increasing rapidly and is ruining the kid's experiences and their passion for the sports. Parents in the United States are becoming more involved in their children's sports than the kids themselves. The reason that so many young American athletes are quitting at such an early age is because their parents are making the sports a joyless experience and are placing too much pressure on the kids to win and to be the best. Parents have become out of control at youth sports and it seems that the kids are showing more civility than the parents these days. Parents need to get back to teaching their kids that sports should be played for fun and not just for showing who's the best.
... us how to value what we have and to show gratitude for being bless. After all, being an athlete is a blessing and if we put money aside it can be a very humbling experience. We should develop our faith in God and know that what is for Caesar will be for Caesar. As the saying goes in my language “what it is meant for you will be your no matter what” and there is northing man can do about it. What God has in plan for you, will truly become your in due time. These are the concepts we want our children to embrace. Patience is the opposite of chaos. The governing boards of these sports should make it a rule that apply to all athlete from all sport, to wait until after their college years before making the decision to become professional. We should be a society that promotes strong standards and up hold the values of good education. Knowledge is power not money.
Funding for high school athletics is very sparse compared to the actual costs to run a promising team. With the most recent recession, travel/showcase teams taking over parent’s wallets, and misunderstanding of the Title IV amendment, funding for high school athletic teams has been dwindling in the past twenty years. Consolidation, taxing, and a well-orchestrated plans are all promising solutions to provide for high school athletics. Athletic facility fundraising groups are turning out to be the most resourceful and efficient source for raising the needed money. Fundraising is a prominent solution; however, the will and want of individual sports teams to improve their status is the ultimate way to get what each specific team needs.
Health care is an integrated, multifaceted discipline that relies on ‘teamwork between different types of health workers with different skills and training’ (Alperstein, 2009: 7) in order to provide the most comprehensive health care. In this essay I will discuss the meaning of comprehensive care and multi-professional teams. I will then look at my role and the role of two other professions in a multi-professional team, while using Barr’s competencies. From this I will discuss my thoughts and feelings pertaining to the task and how this will aid me becoming an Integrated Health Professional.
Participating in a sport at an early age can be essential to the overall growth process during a child’s upbringing. Whether the participation is through some sort of organized league or just getting together amongst friends and playing, the lessons learned from this can help teach these kids and provide a positive message to them as they develop. There is a certain point, however, when organized sports can hinder progress, which is when adults get too involved and forget about the underlying reason to why they are helping. While adult involvement is necessary, adult involvement can sometimes send the wrong message to children when they try to make participation become more than just about fun and learning. According to Coakley (2009), “organized sports are worth the effort put forth by adults, as long as they do what is in the best interest of their children and put that thought ahead of their own agenda” (Coakley, p. 151). This is a valid argument because once adults put themselves in front of the children and their values, it needs to be re-evaluated as to why they first got involved in the beginning. Partaking in organized sport and activity from a young age can be beneficial to the overall development of children, as long as decisions actions are made in the best interest of the children and not stemming from ulterior motives of adults.
Everyone agrees that parent involvement is a good thing. But when the parent behaves inappropriately, it creates a poor environment for the children to learn and enjoy themselves. "Sideline rage" with parents behaving badly at youth sports events is such an epidemic, that 76% of respondents from 60 high school athletic associations said increased spectator interference is causing many officials to quit (Associated Press, 6/3/01). Parents are supposed to be role models, and the lessons they teach will determine their values and actions in the future. These days violence in children's sports is not limited to the playing field; overbearing parents are creating dangerous situations on the field.
... room for adults to be playing a child’s game instead of going to school. If athletes want to play that bad because they feel that they are good enough then they have to make sacrifices. I am not against talented individuals playing professional sports but I am against those who do not obtain a degree and actually get something out of college before doing so. Written in an article published by USA Today “in 2009 that 78 percent of NFL players are bankrupt or facing serious financial stress within two years of ending their playing careers and that 60percent of NBA players are broke within five years of retiring from the game” (Wiles, 2012). Professional athletics is not all about fame and being filthy rich and this is something that young college students don’t understand. It is essential to better yourself and obtain a degree, there is more to life than just sports.
These days, there is too much pressure on children who participate in organized sports because of the unnecessary parental involvement they experience. A growing concern amongst those involved in youth sports is that certain aspects of parental involvement become detrimental to the development and experiences of young athletes. Early emphasis on winning, making money, and the disruption of education can exceedingly affect ones desire to further participate in a sport later on in his/her life.
College athletes are not forced into playing the sport that they have devoted their time to during their years in secondary education. They continue to play into the college level for their love of the game. And for this, many college athletes are offered full scholarships. Today’s tuition for many schools are so expensive that without the scholarships that some of the students receive, they would not be able to attend college at all. For these students, college sports offer a great avenue to obtain an education that otherwise would not have been available for them. This allows them opportunity to study something that they can use to build a better life for themselves and their families.
What do you think of when you watch Michael Jordan play basketball? What do you think of when you watch Cristiano Ronaldo or Pele play soccer? Are they remembered as great individual players or as great team players? In sports today, fans often forget the term team player. A lot of the time, the star player will forget what it means to be a team player, but what does it actually mean? Many believe that the definition of a team player is the person that does all of the hard work for the great players on the team. I feel that the real definition of a team player is one who is determined to make the team succeed, from practicing, learning the game, and from having great individual performance.
Many parents put their children into sports for the wrong reason. They try to live their past dreams of sports glory through their kid. They can push and dem...
Sport Tourism is is defined as: sport-based travel away from the home environment for a limited time, where sport is characterised by unique rule sets, competition related to physical prowess, and a playful nature (Hinch and Higham 2004)
