I would like to change my switch my senior project because last year I did not really have much of an idea of what I wanted to do. My old project was given to me because I didn’t have a complete understanding of what a senior project was. I feel that the new idea that I have chosen will make more of a difference in other people’s lives.
My new proposal for my senior project is to set up a sports clinic for special needs children. My idea is for the group to meet two days a week and two play sports and meet other children like themselves. I thought of this idea because my brother has special needs and sometimes I do not have time to play with him or help him. This group will help him and other children meet each other, make friends, and be
Walking into Walnut Hills High School right now would have anyone thinking the just walked into the middle of a tornado. Everyone you look there are students running in and out of doors, in and out of cars, and most certainly either turning in missing assignments or retaking tests. There is only one way for you to explain all this ciaos, Senior Year, the year that all teens await with so much excitement and ambition and the year that every single hour long study dates pays off. For the class of 2021 this isn’t just their final year at Walnut Hills this is the year that friends separate and head off to their different university to follow their dreams.
As previously mentioned in my planning stage, I had chosen to assist ‘David’ to partake in a group basketball game for completion of my HNC Social Care Graded Unit project. In studying David’s support plan; I had identified his social skills needed slight improvement, with his self-motivation needing most encouragement. I believe the group sports activity we planned and performed met these objectives. Additionally, my placement supervisor has forwarded confirmation of the successful completion of this task via email to my senior lecturer.
What were your goals for this project? Our goals for this project is to raise at least $100 for Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but also to earn a good grade. We decide to choose St. Jude because Manuela personally has a one year old boy and she had commented that she saw a television commercial were a young boy was suffering from this horrible disease, but unfortunately lost his battle against cancer. We want create consciousness that with just donating 63 cents a day and $19 a month we can make a big difference, which you can help save a life of one of these children. Families who kids are receiving treatment, they never receive a bill charging them transportation and other services for example St. Jude pays for the children who
I would inform them so that they could assist me and my mission and also so that they could provide me with possible solutions. I would also call the bank and set up an account just for scholarship awards. I would send my team to contact Re/max to scout for buildings with farmland nearby so that we could start working on the first neighborhood center before building the rest of them. Re/Max has been around for over 40 years and is “is a leader in the commercial and investment arenas”. Although it would cost more, I would get it furnished by local small independent businesses. The centers would focus on making the people independent and teaching core values and ethics to make them a more productive part of society. They could grow and tend to the land and feed themselves and the neighborhood. I would get homedepot to help with the gardening supplies, fruit and vegetable seeds, and sheds for the supplies. I would also reach out to Big Brothers and Big Sisters so that neighborhood kids could have good role models to look up to. It is an organization that “helps children realize their potential and build their futures….nurture children and strengthen communities.” I would have to recruit teachers to help at the facility as well. Whether it be art, music, dance, home
One of these causes, the Miracle League of the South Hills is particularly close to my heart. A friend of my mother has a child who is severely autistic, and all my life my family and I have volunteered for many organizations to help special needs children, of all of these Miracle League has left the greatest impression on me. Ghandi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” and that is exactly what has happened to me during my long term association with the Miracle League. I truly believe my association with this organization has helped me to become a better person, more kind, caring, outgoing, and energetic. Miracle League was founded on the belief that, “Every child deserves a chance to play baseball.” Miracle League operates specially designed fields on which they bring the game of baseball to children who may have never had the opportunity to play on a real field. I volunteer with the Miracle League Buddy program. The Buddy Program pairs volunteers with a Miracle League player to help the player The buddy is there to protect the player from balls, assist the player in batting and running the bases, and to be a friend on and off the field. I began volunteering as a buddy in 2012, and in 2014 I became a Buddy Organizer for my team, the Tigers. As Buddy Organizer I do exactly what it sounds like, I am in charge of pairing up players with a
...d. Some of the parents of children with a disability have suggested talking with the local principal to develop an awareness of how the child with a disability is impacted by lack of adequate funding, housing and resources. I decided that we could find out if the people we intermingle with at business associates meetings know of any personal acquaintances that might have a disability. It would also be a good idea to know your government officials campaign strategies. The lobby group will research information about government officials to see what they are interested in. The group will advocate a leader to approach the local government officials to discuss how they could benefit their campaign by offering their support of the disabled. The lobby group is expressing optimism and are actively engaged in planning and organizing for positive change in their community.
Our organization is needed to help counteract the stigma placed upon black girls and help support them and guide them through the world through mentorship teaching them along the way the beauty of being a black girl. Our organization works closely with young girls ages 4-16 in the Washtenaw and Wayne county community where we hold bi-weekly meetings with our young girls and well as weekend activities. Our meeting consist of homework time in the first hour where we help the little girls with their school work whether that be math, literature, science and etc. This time also gives us one on one time with our mentees where we discuss with them about what has been happening in their life and catch up on everything since our last meeting time. For the rest of our meeting time we would dialogue discussion about things we see on the media, about what it means to be a women of color, share our experience and methods to combat racial discrimination and etc. We also use this time to have a moment of silence and write and reflect in our dream
The project ended up not being particularly valuable for me in the sense that the change was never really able to become permanent. This is most likely directly because I did not strictly adhere to my change plan either by choice or by extenuating circumstance. The project has shown me that in order for a difficult change to be made it has to be an incredibly high priority. My change ended up not being as high on my priority list as studying for exams or going out with friends when I had limited time around exams which was ultimately the downfall of my change.
have focused on sports in an organized setting, for younger age groups, and have involved
I have set up to have two separate meetings, one for teachers and one for students. I want to be able to open up my program to students of every age, gender and ethnicity. The more students I am able to educate that is one less student who can possibly suffer from back pain. I would conduct these weekly meetings in the sports medicine lab where I will have the team member of the club lead the activities. I will also ask speakers from different backgrounds with knowledge on back pain come visit. Because of the young population I want the weekly meetings to be informative but fun. That being said there would be different things throughout a whole year that I would want to address. These include, sports in relation to back pain, how to use correct posture in sports and at school, exercises and stretches to reduce back pain, and why use of good posture is important. The meetings will only be 30 minutes long and I will set up to have a school bus that could come pick up the students to take them home if needed. The meetings for teachers would be very similar in nature but would bring in professionals to help teachers come up with teaching plans that include stretching breaks and different activities that will allow students to move and understand material teacher is
The advantages of this project is that I have some understanding of the sport, because my sister is the coach. Also, with her being the coach it would allow me access to practices, interviews with the girls, and also learning about something new about my sister seeing her coach rather than play. It would allow me to research the difference on being on a school team verses being on a traveling team.
Before applying a solution for a specific problem you got to make sure that it fits the region's culture and traditions in order to make it successful. Social/cultural considerations are all about the cultural acceptance, conformity with traditions and the social impact .As for the cultural acceptance this project will increase the awareness of the importance of self-confidence. Also when it's widely known, it will change a lot of people's lives. Social impact is also something that has to be but in consideration. First it will help the people specially the youth to be more confident Secondly they will be productive and less negative. It's now obvious after presenting the social and cultural consideration that this project would be applicable and easy to apply in
I would like to propose a plan to add the following things to our school building. First of all I feel that we need an auditorium to the area where the basketball courts used to be. The project will cost 15,000$ and will take up the area where the old basketball courts used to be. I believe that the benefits of adding an auditorium would heavily outweigh the costs because the students will have a place to rehearse, a place to hold large assemblies and a place to put on performances, rather then using someone else’s facility’’s. We would be able to put on our concerts without paying money to rent out space to use.
I would plan an Olympic themed rally. This Rally could appeal to all students, grades, interests and genders because we could use more than just sports. We would definitely use sports in games but we can add technology and academics. We would also be able to include something very important to me, the special olympics. As far as decorations go you would be able to use the five rings that make up the olympic symbol and You could make the rings out of hoola hoops and each class and the faculty could be its own team withs its own colored ring. When it comes to activities you could set up an obstacle course but as a twist athletes would have to be dresses in multiple layers of clothing or with ski jackets/pants, this represents the winter
For hundreds of years it has been recognized that not all learning takes place in the classroom. Students mental and social development also occurs outside the classroom in athletics, music, and clubs. No matter what club the student is involved in, he/she fosters organizational, interpersonal, communication, planning, critical thinking, financing, and evaluation skills. A club gives students the opportunity to combine components of their mental and social development into personal action. These students have opportunities to test their skills and talents in different situations. Students will always work together to set goals, develop action plans for achieving those goals and implement those plans. Doing so, students could develop and maintain working relationships and friendships. The soul of a club is the students, but it also consists of many things that happen behind the scenes.
