Fatima would love to explore the aspect of marketing through social media, but it is impossible to pursue it due to the stiff job description. Becoming a part of job crafting, Fatima could enhance her innovative side and instill it into her job. She developed new marketing strategies and engaged in more activities, which in turn will boost the business productivity. The employee and employer identify and rework tasks and hours in order to increase employees’ job satisfaction. Correspondingly, this job crafting entail drawbacks. Drawbacks such as; erosion of focus, as well as inefficiency in the workplace. Crafting new tasks can erode the focus of the task; likewise, key elements may be eliminated. The workplace can become inefficient as employees may not be available when needed to complete crucial tasks. This can also have a negative impact of the productivity of the company. In essence, if employees are trying to juggle multiple tasks at once, other important tasks will be affected because one person can only do so much at a time. I believe all possible drawbacks to the job crafting process can be minimized by adding supervision. This will ensure the firm's goals are accomplished while creating a satisfied environment for
It is a fundamental HRM activity and plays the key role in deciding on the actual job structure which is, “identifying the relevant tasks and activities and allocating them across employees in a way that allows the organization to reap benefits from specialization”, but also bundle job tasks in order to use possible synergies between the different tasks (Foss, Minbaeva, Pedersen & Reinholt, 2009, p.873). There are two major approaches to job design, these are the job enrichment approach “which attempts to make the job more interesting, challenging, and significant by adding dimensions such as variety, autonomy, feedback, and control” and the job engineering approach “which attempts to make jobs more efficient by improving work methods, tools, and task-goal structure through activities such as time-and-motion studies and goal setting” (Umstot, Bell & Mitchell, 1976,

How are the principles of job enrichment applied in this case? By the addition of added tasks on higher levels of skill, with added responsibility and accountability. Doing so eliminated the monotony of the tasks at hand. Although adding levels of work to the process added to the levels of stress on the job. Therefore, these actions may not match every situation. Barbara White, author of Women’s Career Development, gives an opportunity for successful women to give advice to other women wanting to pursue a career in the workforce. First, they explained that women need to be single-minded today. They must make their own choices and know what they want. If a woman hopes to achieve her goal of an ‘American Dream’ and live up to it, then she should be persistent and keep working at achieving her objectives. The best advice given in White’s book is that a woman should not underestimate herself (227-229). A woman today can be whatever she pleases. It takes work, dedication and persistence to achieve goals in general, not just in the career aspect of life. As seen through Joan Crawford and Dawn Steel’s stories, a ‘business woman’ has a bright future now and for years to come. Women’s roles have drastically changed throughout the past century along with the actual number of women now working. It is phenomenal to see such an increase in women’s participation, and hopefully this course will continue even higher into the twenty-first century.
A job analysis a great way to analyzed whether or not the individual is fit for the position. By creating a questionnaire that relates to the daily tasks for the position will narrow done the selection process into a smaller portion. The information given from the Job Analysis is also used to create a Job Description and Job Specification. “Job description identifies the tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The “job specification list the KSAOCs that individuals need to posses to perform a job successfully”(Pynes, 2013). After an individual is hired we must train that individual with the proper format in order for them to understand the concept of work. In this process I will develop a training program that includes all the organizations policies, procedures and daily tasks.
Some of the things that companies could do to improve job satisfaction for example, would be to identify when an employee is bored on the job, address it, obtain feedback from the employee for ideas to make their job more interesting and challenging. This would allow a leader to assist this individual in designing different ways to perform duties or depending on individual’s future career goals and performance level, may need more responsibility or promotion in order for the employee to maintain job satisfaction and retention with t...

But the point here is to understand that career change isn’t always the answer for unhappiness in your job. Just because you are unhappy in your current role, doesn’t mean you should move on to a completely new industry. Don’t be disillusioned in thinking the answer is always career change.
According to Rush (1971), the main motive of job design is to increase the level of motivation among employees as well as overall productivity. Aswathappa (2006) describe various approaches of job design named asw job enrichment, job enlargement and job rotation. These are the approaches that motivate the employees to perform their job tasks competently.
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. That is no spending oneÕs time and life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes the job they do then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Information Technology.
It was found that these employees had lesser tendency to quit their job, remain less absent from their work and suffered from lesser role ambiguity. They have also pointed to the downside of increased control which is the increased responsibility
