The employee and employer identify and rework tasks and hours in order to increase employees’ job satisfaction. Correspondingly, this job crafting entail drawbacks. Drawbacks such as; erosion of focus, as well as inefficiency in the workplace. Crafting new tasks can erode the focus of the task; likewise, key elements may be eliminated. The workplace can become inefficient as employees may not be available when needed to complete crucial tasks. This can also have a negative impact of the productivity of the company. In essence, if employees are trying to juggle multiple tasks at once, other important tasks will be affected because one person can only do so much at a time. I believe all possible drawbacks to the job crafting process can be minimized by adding supervision. This will ensure the firm's goals are accomplished while creating a satisfied environment for
This case study is about a man, Miller, who has worked at a factory for 27 years. He is a pocket setter and is able to run two machines in an efficient manner. He is happy with his job as well as happily married to his wife who works at the same factory. He has children but they are raised and moved out of the Miller’s home. He wants to work another ten years before retiring but is rethinking this decision due to the company hiring a consultant firm who has recommend a job enrichment program and his job will be the first to be effected by this program. Right now he just uses the machines and sews but under the new program he will also have to get his own materials, get his own needles, perform routine maintenance on his equipment, and deliver his work to the next station. He believes this will be having him to do three jobs instead of two and that he could go elsewhere and not to have to deal with something like this.
If they would like to get their work done quickly by doing a more challenging job, that is their choice and they are not being made to do so. This also allows people to freely move around with their jobs. They are not locked into one job for the rest of their lives. If they do not like it, they can sign up for a new job tomorrow. This allows you to pursue your interests without inhibitions.
How are the principles of job enrichment applied in this case? By the addition of added tasks on higher levels of skill, with added responsibility and accountability. Doing so eliminated the monotony of the tasks at hand. Although adding levels of work to the process added to the levels of stress on the job. Therefore, these actions may not match every situation. Only adding overload.

Barbara White, author of Women’s Career Development, gives an opportunity for successful women to give advice to other women wanting to pursue a career in the workforce. First, they explained that women need to be single-minded today. They must make their own choices and know what they want. If a woman hopes to achieve her goal of an ‘American Dream’ and live up to it, then she should be persistent and keep working at achieving her objectives. The best advice given in White’s book is that a woman should not underestimate herself (227-229). A woman today can be whatever she pleases. It takes work, dedication and persistence to achieve goals in general, not just in the career aspect of life. As seen through Joan Crawford and Dawn Steel’s stories, a ‘business woman’ has a bright future now and for years to come. Women’s roles have drastically changed throughout the past century along with the actual number of women now working. It is phenomenal to see such an increase in women’s participation, and hopefully this course will continue even higher into the twenty-first century.
The time has changed and the people has changed. Old generations tried to have jobs that got paid high salaries, but today's generations are different. We seek for the jobs that can "impress people," "show our individuality," and "enjoy," but not for the high paid salary jobs anymore. Finding meaningful job is harder than having a high salary job. The reason is that we are not willing to have jobs that gives you high salaries, but something that you can enjoy and satisfy.
A job analysis a great way to analyzed whether or not the individual is fit for the position. By creating a questionnaire that relates to the daily tasks for the position will narrow done the selection process into a smaller portion. The information given from the Job Analysis is also used to create a Job Description and Job Specification. “Job description identifies the tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The “job specification list the KSAOCs that individuals need to posses to perform a job successfully”(Pynes, 2013). After an individual is hired we must train that individual with the proper format in order for them to understand the concept of work. In this process I will develop a training program that includes all the organizations policies, procedures and daily tasks.

Working in today’s society has changed in the last few decades. The economy and technology are the main reasons for this change. The type of job and environment where one works has also changed. The fact that many people work from home via the internet has drastically changed the workforce and the environment surrounding it. With this change have come new demands, expectations, and opportunities for employers. Everyone deals with these demands differently, affecting the employee’s quality of life and job satisfaction. Though the job and office types and locations have changed over the years the need for job satisfaction has not. In today’s economy the job is not as stable as it used to be. But the point here is to understand that career change isn’t always the answer for unhappiness in your job. Just because you are unhappy in your current role, doesn’t mean you should move on to a completely new industry. Don’t be disillusioned in thinking the answer is always career change.
This style often leads to poorly defined job roles and lack of motivation. (Wren, 2013)
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. That is no spending oneÕs time and life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes the job they do then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Information Technology.
