The career I researched was that of a dietician. Someone who wishes to become a dietician must first obtain a bachelor’s degree, which would be considered a minimal requirement. Most dieticians will tell you that it would be within the best interests of a student wishing to become a dietician to get a master’s degree. Dieticians must have a love for science (chemistry in particular) and algebra as these skills are practiced routinely in the profession. It would also be a good idea for someone wishing to become a dietician to take some kind of accounting or book-keeping class, as dieticians must work on and file multiple records for each of their patients.
To become a dietician you must be willing to research every day. New scientific breakthroughs are made on a regular basis that are constantly changing the shape of the practice. Dieticians must also be willing to regularly meet with patients and physicians to accurately determine if their current dietary plan is working or not and what steps they should take to reach their final goal. Hospital dieticians correspond with the kitchen staff to make sure healthy diets are supplied for each patient in the hospital, as well as on an individual level.
In a hospital environment there are typically a group of dieticians to handle all of the inpatient diets. These dieticians in turn answer to their department manager, who works under a chairman. In the dietary department there are also several filing and appointment clerks who help the dieticians to manage their work and keep them on track. These clerks are required because of the high-volume of work a hospital dietician is responsible for. Even though dieticians must regularly meet with patients and physicians, schedules for dieticians are very loose, and they can usually pick their own hours as long as they are at work for a certain amount of time each week.
Dieticians are typically very friendly and social people. In the mornings, a dietary department will usually spend an hour or so casually talking about their current cases or new dietary breakthroughs. In these sessions, dieticians will discuss important new knowledge about their field and about their patients while they drink a cup of coffee.

There are many positive reasons for me to become a dietician. As a dietician I would make a good amount of money, and could find work almost anywhere in the country. I would also be able to feed my love for science and researching skills. The only problem I could find with becoming a dietician is that I am a very mechanical person. This has been proven by the tests, but it is also backed by my own beliefs. Unfortunately, there is little hands-on physical work to be done by dietitians. Perhaps I could volunteer to rearrange the furniture once a week.
Educationally I am on the right path. In several weeks I will graduate high school with almost thirty college credit hours. I will need to take more chemistry, biology, and math classes. I plan on earning a masters degree in nutrition.
Overall, this is a very fitting choice for me. A dietitian has been something I have always wanted to become. After researching the job more and interviewing an actual dietitian, I have decided that it a sure bet for me.
I have been in healthcare for about 6 years now. I started off as a nutritionist in a hospital setting, working with patients of all health statuses. I worked closely with doctors to determine what meal plan would best suit each patient. I went to work day after day to meet a new group of patients who were previously admitted the night before; very rarely did I work long term with one particular patient. Although I enjoyed helping people change their eating habits and educating them on how to better their health, at the end of the day I felt like there was something missing; I wanted more.
Throughout this researched that I investigated I became interested in this field in a way. If I had an option in medical field I would take the option. Knowing that you are helping patients out is an amazing feeling. I would work with infants rather than adults. I would cherish every moment because you would never know if that’s the last time to work with the patient not just because of death but maybe cause they might recover from there sickness.
Since a young age, I always felt inclined towards pursuing a career in the health care field; daydreaming about myself working at a clinic or hospital and making a positive impact on someone’s life. When I started college, I decided to major in Biology and explored the different career options the health field had to offer me by shadowing dietitians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers to find my ideal job.
The NHS choices (2010) states that upholding a balanced diet is important for good health, this can be accomplished by giving the patient a selection of foods from the five major food groups. This indicates that we as professionals need to be giving the patients the right amount of food from each of the food groups. According to Bloomfield J, Pegram A (2012). They explain that there are many factors that can prevent patients within the hospital setting being given enough to eat and drink. It is important that we as professionals identify the factors which prevent the patient from receiving the right amount of food and water. According to Jeffries et al (2011) if we as nurses do not identify the factors it can cause malnutrition and other outcomes from postponed recovery, and also it could cause infections, which will then increases the patient’s time within hospital. Whiteing and Hunter (2008) stated that factors such as disruptions to mealtimes through preparation of investigations, or patients being absent from the ward when meals and drinks are served. We as nurses need take time to make sure that there is meal plan in place for the patients, this then will make sure that the patient is receiving their meals at the same time during the day, also giving the patent a copy of this plan will then therefore explain to them that meal time is a certain time as

Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.

I started studying health and nutrition when I joined Herbalife in August of 2014. I decided to study health and nutrition, because my weight was out of control and I wanted to find a way to live a healthier lifestyle. In 2014 I started making healthier food choices and along with exercising consistently, was able to drop twenty pounds in one month. Losing the weight led me to become a health and wellness trainer and to be a successful trainer I knew I had to increase my knowledge on health and nutrition.
I am inspired to explore the field of dietetics which is very broad and dietitians perform a variety of functions in their jobs. As a dietitian, I can work in a wide variety of positions such as a foodservice manager in commercial or institutional, a community nutritionist, such as the WIC and Headstart, a consultant to major food corporations such as Kelloggs and Kraft or go into sales. I am very interested in working in a position where I can help people develop habits to improve their health. I may eventually go on to graduate school to advance my knowledge of dietetics.
The lessons I have learned in my life from both my parents and life experiences have fully prepared me to excel in college. Being a part of honors classes and taking multiple advanced placement classes I believe I am very ready for the workload to come ahead. After college I hope to fulfill not only my dream, but also my parent’s dream, of seeing myself become a successful dentist or doctor so I could accomplish all of my other life goals. The career i chose is a branch of the medical field. I chose a career in nursing, more specifically the career path of a registered nurse. This career consists of providing care for people of all ages and helping them with managing their conditions. I chose this career because my mother is an rn and my family has a strong presence in the medical field. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills, or talents needed, salary, benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career when making this decision.
Overall, this career is important to our society because nobody wants bad ice cream. And no one by ice cream the company will have to cut back. This then will cause people to loose their jobs. Then the unemployment rate + poverty will rise. Finally our country will fall and become a waste land (that escalated quickly). I think this career would be good for me because I will be making money doing something I love (eating).
The process for nutrition and dietetic practice is a systematic approach which used for completing the nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention and monitoring/evaluation of patient.
