Career cruising is a website to give you ideas of what careers I would be interested in. It gives me the information about the career such as the job description, earnings, education needed and working conditions. The tools I chose to explore careers is a quiz I take. I chose six careers that are baker, animal caretaker, firefighter, zoologist, cook, and crime scene investigator. The career as the animal caretaker looks after animal wherever they are housed, including in kennels, pet shops, and zoos. Caretakers generally earn between $8 to $15 an hour. For those who work full-time this works out to about $16,000 to $31,000 a year. Caretakers earn a median wage of about $9 an hour. This translates to a median income of around $20,000 a year. …show more content…
Baking is one of the world’s oldest trades. However, unlike their counterparts in ancient times, today’s bakers have a lot more tools and ingredients at their disposal. They also make much more than just bread. In general, bakes earn anywhere from about $17,000 to $37,000 a year, although highly skilled speciality bakers can earn more. Median earnings are approximately $23,000 a year. Successful bakery owners can earn upwards of $60,000 a year. Requirements for this career is a high school diploma. One way to become a fully trained baker is to find a position as an apprentice or trainee. This involves training on the job, under the supervision of an experienced baker. The entry- level job is usually that of baker 's assistant. Apprentices are often encouraged to take baking courses at vocational or 2 year colleges during their training period. Bakers employed by wholesales, retail, in store, and franchise bakeries. They may also be hired by institutions that features baked goods on their menus, such as restaurants, hotels, and hospitals. Some bakers, particularly those who specialize in certain products such as wedding cakes, are self employed. Bakers generally work in clean, well-ventilated, and well lit environments. However, some kitchens are small, hot, and …show more content…
Zoology is a branch of biology that focuses on the study animals. It is concerned with all aspects of animal life, including the origins, behaviors, diseases, and genetic makeup of every kind of animal. The work zoologists do involve teaching and research. The national median salary for zoologist is around $57,000 a year, with most earning somewhere between $36,000 and $94,000 a year. Zoologist with a bachelor 's degree earn the lowest salaries, while those who have a masters degree can make significantly more. A zoologist can become the curator of a zoo, or obtain a research position at a 4 year college, where he or she could make upwards of $145,000 a year. High school students interested in a career in zoology should make sure that they have a good understanding of the basic sciences by taking courses in chemistry, biology, and physics. Math, computer and english courses would also be helpful. If you have a bachelor 's degree in biology or zoology you may be able to get a job as a field or lab technician. With a masters degree in biology, zoology, or a related discipline, you may be able to get certain discipline, you may be able to get certain research positions in government or industry, or you could become a research assistant to an academic zoologist. Zoology research is usually done in a lab or in habitat of the creatures being studied. Depending on the job, zoologist may need to spend several weeks, or even
For this project, I decided to take on the career of a veterinarian. As a veterinarian, I would have to examine animals to diagnose their health problems, treat and dress wounds, perform surgery on animals, test for and vaccinate against diseases, operate medical equipment(x-ray machines, etc.), advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments, prescribe medication, and euthanize animals. To get a job in this profession, you have to have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. You also have to have to take many science classes including biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, zoology, microbiology, and animal science. You would have to take about four years of college which adds up to about $100,000 dollars in student
The average annual salary is 93,250 dollars, they work 24 hours for 365 days of the year, they work in equine facilities, horse stables, and pastures. Being an equine vet can be mentally and physically draining of energy so know how to be patient before getting into the practice.
A zoologist is likely to either study animals in a controlled or natural environment, or dissect dead animals for studying (“Zoologists”...Campus para.8). Conducting experiments indoors or outside and on animals are all part of the job (“Zoologists”...Campus para.6). They need to observe and study the characteristics and behaviors of animals and wildlife (“Zoologists”...U.S. para.2). Data of the life processes, diseases, genetics, and the origins of animals is analyzed after being collected (“Zoologist” para.1). Zoologists expand their knowledge of fundamental life processes by doing research (“Zoologists”...Campus para.2). Basic and applied are the two main research categories; basic research is helping people understand the problem and trying to solve a certain problem is applied (“Zoologists”...Campus para.2). Creating new tests, treatments, drugs, biofuels, and increased crop yields using knowledge from basic research is the job of a zoologist in applied research (“Zoologists”...Campus para.5). In applied research, zoologists will have to work with other scientists, business managers, technicians, engineers, and other zoologists (“Zoologists”...Campus para.5). However, zoologists who just use basic research tend to have a job in a lab, government/private industry, or at ...
Veterinarians have many ways to work their way to top, about one in every six veterinarians are self employed in 2016. Others held occupations at federal, state, or local government service industries. Most veterinarians work in private clinics and hospitals, other farm veterinarians travel, work in laboratories or class rooms. 11. There are numerous limiting factors in becoming a veterinarian. For example, you are always in competition with other veterinarians, most upcoming veterinarians seek jobs in companion animal care (Bls.gov). 13. With just being out of college normally vets would make around eighty seven thousand dollars a year. As you grow in your occupation you could easily make around one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars a year. You would make crazy bank if you stayed with your career and continued to grow successfully
In order to become a zoologist you must go through a lot of schooling and training. Schooling also depends on what branch of zoology you’re looking to go into. First of all, you should start by getting a major in zoology or biology as an undergraduate. After that you may want to get into the study of genetics, embryology, or any area in animal science. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree can get more jobs than someone who doesn’t have as much experience in advanced biological technician, but their opportunities for advancement are extremely limited. If you have earned a masters degree in zoology or a related field you are capable of getting a job as a teacher or research assistant. If you are very serious about a full-time career and plan to organize your own research projects, then you might want to get your doctorate. You also n...
The cruise industry is under a bit of a makeover. Due to economic conditions and shifting demand, the cruise line industry is looking for new ways to attract cruise vacationers while maintaining the market that already exists. There are numerous ways to go about this. Royal Caribbean is being creative in its methods. Generally, Key West is one of the most frequented ports of call. However, as Phillips (2005) states The Sentry is canceling 26 port calls next year, and the Rhapsody of the Seas normally goes every week while next year it will only go every other week. RCL has had the same schedule for a long time and now they want to try other things. This is a sign of things to come. Royal Caribbean can no longer rely on old methodology to be successful. Where are these ships going to go if they are not going to Key West?
When the average person thinks about zoology, they usually think about a zoo and or animals. As said in General Zoology, many questions come with this topic. “What is life? In what ways are the various kinds of animals alike or unlike in structure, internal processes, and modes of life? How do animals carry on their activities? How are the many kinds related to one another? In what ways does man resemble and differ from other living things? The answers to many of these questions are provided by the science of zoology.” (General Zoology, page 3). While zoology does involve animals, the general study of zoology is far more complicated then one would imagine. Zoology is a branch of biology that studies the classification, origins, habitats and behaviors of organisms. Someone who studies zoology is a zoologist, and has the tasks of learning about new species and their habitats. It is a job that if mastered, can be one of the most fulfilling and knowledgeable careers someone can obtain.
Profession, occupation, calling or dream job. These are the many phrases used to define what a career is. A career is a job done for a long period of time by an individual who has a deep passion for the work that is required. With both the negative and positive aspects taken into consideration, many people struggle to find their ideal career. The career of a Psychologist is most fitting for me, because of my qualifications and possibility of personal growth.
Zoologists and wildlife biologists study wildlife and animals and how they survive in their habitats (“Zoologists” para.1). Zoologist and wildlife biologists study numerous things thing such as: diseases, genetics, origin, how it behaves, and their process of life (“Zoologist/Wildlife” para.1). They also study the interactions with other animals, breeding, movement patterns, population dynamics, and the person...
Introduction: My career of interest is wildlife biology. Wildlife biology is the study of living organisms such as plants and animals through ecology, behavior, physiology, genetics, and biology. The reason this field interests me is because of my love of science and all the animals and plants that make up the world around us. To learn more about my field of study, I interviewed Noah Brady, a researcher in biology, on June 27, 2016.
I would not mind going the extra mile and getting that four year bachelor’s degree to get a higher level job that pays more, if that is really what I wanted to do. I have a lot of experience with all different species of animals from going to camps, zoos, safaris, sanctuaries, and locally owned miniature “zoos”. I am also graduating next year and after that I am planning on going to college for four years to get a bachelor’s degree in biology. This will allow me to get those higher level position such as zookeeper, animal trainer, and marine mammal trainer. Even though I have a good amount of experience working with animals already I am more than ready to do some on-the-job training. This will help me prepare for situations I have never dealt with before and maybe even help me get to a higher level position. My outlook for actually getting a job is pretty high, so I might have a great chance in getting all the experience I need. In getting a job in the animal care or service working area, I would complete my all time goal of getting a job I love and working with many different animals I love. I will work my best to complete these goal to become an animal care and service worker so I can have a job and life that I am so passionate
There are not many options for a steady career in Travel Photography. Don’t let that discourage you. As there are many people who may classify this kind of photography as more of a hobby rather than an “actual” career. Becoming a steady Travel Photographer is a difficult job, some may say even close to “impossible.”
The origins of the cruise industry can be traced to 1818 when Black Ball Line began shuttling its customers between America and Europe, taking note of the comfort of its passengers. (Boyd, n.d.) The introduction of air transportation as a more economic transport alternative forced ocean liners, which ferried people to destinations in comfort, to innovate into a new product for survival. (Boyd, n.d.)
Along with trying to get degrees in biology and veterinary medicine I am starting to think about also getting a degree in zoology. Zoology is a branch of biology that zeroes in on the animal kingdom and the habitats, evolutions, and distributions of living and non- living animals. Zoology is biology just more detailed on the biology of animals instead of all living things as a whole. Getting a degree in zoology as well as the others may be very time consuming seeing how achieving the other two degrees will probably take a good couple of year before I can finally enter the profession. So instead of a degree in zoology I may just take the zoology classes offered here at Valdosta.
My Career Cluster Survey told me what I thought I could go into, I had several things tied for the top such as, Business Management and Administration, Finance, Human Services, Law Public Safety, Corrections, and Security. I had a couple tied for a little below the top such as, Health Science and Education, and Training. All of the careers are something I’m interested in. I’m happy that I got all of these careers, and am really interested in certain ones.
