Boys, rough, tough, and daring individuals, or are they? Attempting to unearth a better understanding of boys is precisely the reason behind the observations that are to follow. In a typical school setting, students are not grouped according to gender, but rather in accordance with grade levels. This grouping helps teach children to adapt to being in a co-ed environment, as well as how to function in an environment that includes individuals of varying abilities, view points, and genders. What happens when one gender is removed? How will this impact the social learning process? The goal of the observation is to document how boys within the middle childhood developmental stage react in a social setting. The following observations were made in a model car workshop at a YMCA located in Chesapeake Virginia. At two separate times, 12 boys within the middle childhood developmental stage were observed over a 1 hour period.
One-by-one the boys trickled into the model car workshop. The instructor approached each boy and briefly instructed the child to write his name on the name tag and place it in a visible spot on his person. Each child did as was asked and quickly found a place to sit. Children within this developmental group are known for following rules with ease. Conforming to norms helps to generate cohesion with those of similar status, namely peers. One boy walked into the class wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey that was obviously too big, a fitted baseball cap turned to the back, baggy denim shorts extending to his ankles and a pair of gold Nike basketball shoes. After the instructor handed the boy a name tag the boy peeled the backing off the name tag and stuck it in the center of his hat.
At 10:15 AM, the instructor introduced himself and asked the class to do the same. The first boy to introduce himself was Anthony. Anthony was the tallest and most mature looking of all the boys. As he proudly stood in front of his seat and introduced himself, the other boys began to hunch over in their seats, attempting to avoid being the next to stand. After Anthony, Michael stood next. Michael was also a rather mature looking 10-year old. The boys took turns and in the process, less and less attention was paid to child introducing himself that is until it was Brandon’s turn.
“Emotional regulation can lead to more fulfilling social experiences. Children of the same age argue on about the same socio-cognitive and moral level, face the same transitions and life events. These similarities are expected to improve their understanding of their peers’ situation, perhaps to some extent independent of inter-individual differences due to level of development, personality, or upbringing. The second reason follows from the fact that peers form a group. Being together with a group of likeminded peers should intensify some of the emotions children experience.” (Salisch, 2001) The group they formed was a good social experience for them. Brooks argues that male and female brains work and experience things differently. He suggests that this theory is also the reason as to why young girls are surpassing their male counterparts in school settings. He incorrectly assumes that by separating males and females, males will be allowed to break free from gender stereotypes. In many high schools, there is an unspoken social order amongst peer groups; teenagers are either included in the popular group or the unpopular group. These social standings are determined by the popular group whether they will accept certain people based on shared interests and values but mainly on appearance. For example, some groups may isolate a student who does not have clothing considered attractive enough. Teenagers belonging to the popular clique label individuals as outcasts who do not fit the clique’s standards of a perfect appearance. This repression can cause a build up of anger if an outcast seeks to be accepted into that popular group.
The participants in this study included a total of 36 boys and 36 girls ranging in age from 3 years to almost 6 years. The average age of the children was 4 years, and 4 months. The control group consisted of 24 children, who would not be exposed to any model. The rest of the 48 children were divided into two groups: one group was exposed to aggressive models and the other group was exposed to nonaggressive models. These groups were then divided again into males and females. They were then further divided so that half of the children were exposed to same-sex models and opposite-sex models. (Leaving 8 experimental groups and 1 control group.)

This work (repeat the teaching) could make the kids realize and know their genders. The second step, in ages 3-5, when the kids know exactly what their gender, the parents want to let them do activity together. In this step, it is very hard to do that for boys particularly because their stereotypes about the gender are very stronger than the girls. This is back to the learning that they (boys) got from their previous step. In the third phase, we find that Kohlberg believes that children age 6 to 10 years begin to comprehend the gender differences between them. We find that kids at this stage, they begin to develop their skills on this basis. At this stage may not happen without any intervention of the parents, but the children get some confusion; for example, a child who has a tendency to carry out activities of gender, we find the parents are suffering at this stage because the child 's return to its own stereotypes. Also, at this stage, we find that the competition between the sexes is increasing somewhat, so that we see the kids are trying to prove gender personality. In childhood and adolescence, the time during which students go to school, children begin to learn these basic rules of civilization. They socialize with others, learn to respect and become well-rounded individuals. This requires students to not only develop their talents, but also their weaknesses.
The three laws of motion are three rules that explain the motion of an object. The first law is the law of inertia. It states that every object remains at rest unless it is compelled by an external force. The second law is the law of acceleration. This law shows when there is a change in force, it causes a change in velocity. Finally, the third law states that every force in nature has an equal and opposite reaction. His discovery in calculus help confirms his second law of motion. Calculus also gave Isaac Newton powerful ways to solve mathematical problems. Lastly, for the color spectrum, he produced a beam of light from a tiny hole in a window shade. He placed a glass prism in front of the beam of light creating a color spectrum. In Newton’s undergraduate days, Newton was greatly influenced by the Hermetic tradition. After learning about the Hermetic tradition it influenced him to look at a different perspective into his discoveries and theories. One of the myths that followed the discovery is his discovery of universal gravitation. It is said that while Isaac Newton was thinking about the forces of nature, an apple fell on his head and he found the theory of gravity. There is no evidence that an apple fell on Newton’s head, but the evidence is shown that Newton got an idea of the theory of gravity when he saw an apple fall from a tree. During his life; however, Isaac Newton faced many obstacles. When he published some of his ideas in Philosophical Transaction of the Royal Society, some people challenged his ideas such as Robert Hooke and Christiaan Huygens to a point where Newton stopped publishing his work. Society places males in one category and females in another category, although some say it could be detrimental to one if they are not sure what role to identify with or how to be accepted. An article stated by Sara Reese, “Making kids to stick to gender roles can actually be harmful to their health. States a researcher did a study that observed fourteen years old interactions over a three month period. “Usually we think of gender as a natural and biological, but it’s not... we actually construct it in ways that have problems and largely acknowledge health risks.” Several things Pereia found were aspects of what one would consider bullying today. For example, she observed girls who loved to play sports sometimes avoided them all together because it would be “the famine thing to do” Pereia said, “All of the girls were within very healthy weights, but they were all striking their intake of food in some way, so what we 're really talking about is fourteen year old girls who’s bodies are changing and developing, depriving themselves at every meal.” They boys in the study felt they had to prove themselves in some form or fashion. Pereia stated, “All faced intense pressure to demonstrate the extent of their manliness”. Today’s studies give one another a difficult time or poke fun for the smallest thing. Bullying is more prevalent today because of how society’s outlook. Girls and boys both struggle in middle school with their changing in their bodies. The Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) consists of phases used in developing a piece of software. It is the plan of how to develop and maintain software, and when necessary, replace that software. In 2007 during my hospital’s transition to a new software system, I was fortunate enough to be included in the process.
