Educational Biography
My educational experience has been filled with many positive and negative experiences, which have all shaped the type of student I am and the way I view my education. The type of experiences and individual encounters sets the tone for the rest of heir educational career. These experiences shape the view and attitudes of the individual.
In high school I had some very good teachers that helped prepare me for my college experience. One of my most positive experiences was with a math teacher who asked if I would stay late after class so she could help me understand all of the concepts to prepare for the upcoming test. Not only did she make me feel valued and cared about, but it also helped give me a foundation for the

It can be very challenging coming to a new country to attend a major college. Once I began attending classes, I had to learn the language and the culture in order to be successful. As I was learning the language, I had an English tutor who assisted me with my language acquisition. She would spend two hours at a time teaching me both academic and conversational English. This experience laid the foundation for the rest of my college success. I could not have been successful in an American college without learning how to read, write and speak using academic English. This experience was probably the most influential of all the academic experiences I have had. It created a very positive association for me with Americans and allowed me to view Americans and friendly and helpful as opposed to intimidating and foreign. I have also had negative experiences at the college level. In one of my first academic classes I had a fellow student who would constantly stare at me for wearing my hijab. I could not help but notice the unwanted attention that I received in my class as a result of my hijab. It hurt my feelings and made me question if I was wise to come to American to study. It affected my ability to focus on the course content due to the fact that I felt insecure and scrutinized while in class. I ended up with the lowest grade I had ever received in this class, I am confident that it had a lot to do with my inability to focus in the
Close to the entire education process teachers have had a very major role in idea generation and teaching me different education concepts which are later brought in as tests. The larger parts of the test that I have participated in come from what the teachers have mentioned directly or indirectly. Most if not all of the teachers are very inspiring and encouraging. I always appreciate the many times a teacher has called me aside to discuss a matter that positively mentors me personally even if it’s not directly related to the subject the
Throughout the years that I have been attending school, I have had many teachers be very generous to me. For the rest of my essay, I 'm going to be talking about how one
College is a different experience than high school. A large difference between high school and college is the people you will meet while attending college. An interesting group you will meet in college are international students. These international students come from all over the world and have their own unique story to tell. For my project I interviewed Jholdi Brooks, a native of the Dominican Republic, who has spent half his life in the Dominican and the other half in the United States.
The stereotypical version of the normal life of a teenager proceeding to college would include high academic standards met throughout their high school career and outstanding outside testing scores resulting in automatic entry into the institution of their choice. Many of these individuals have the support of their accomplished family members in the form of financial support. There are those who have not had the luxuries of any easy upbringing but forced to decide between a life with a college degree or full-time employment. For myself I want to have it all and to achieve that I have taken on both.
In the Dominican Republic, I had the opportunity to teach students English. It was uplifting to see the children rush to make it on time to class. Despite the storm and pouring rain, the students were always eager to learn. Not only did I teach students English, but they also
When I came to America, I had just finished 5th grade and I barely knew any English. I spend the whole summer practicing english, studying the American fashion, watching movies and traveling to amazing places. Then there was the first day of school in a totally different country. This was just the beginning.
Throughout our lives we start to perceive ourselves, or become aware of something. One of the many things that we start to notice is the many different ways we understand things. There are many different ways of learning, and one must find what preference fit their personality best. To be able to pin point the best learning methods could dramatically change ones own understanding of the subject one is learning about. One way to find out is to answer the MBTI, (Myer-Briggs Type Indicator), questionnaire. Another method of finding your personality type is using the Temperament Theory. At each point in my life, I had fabulous teachers that helped open my mind to the bigger world outside. But the person who taught me the most was my mother.
First and foremost, this class brings a sign of releaif. The thought of graduating in a mere five weeks amazing. I have being on my education journey at King University since the beginning of 2015. Thus, having a family of 7, working full-time, tend to make college a challenge that I can almost say, I have conquered. To be honest, I have enjoyed every minute.
One of the main reasons I became a good student was my teachers back in high school, they had always respected and loved a good student, and you don’t have be a genius, just as long as you participating in their classes, they liked you, so I always fought for that sense of respect and love, also after I graduated, they were still giving credit of my dedication in the school, and that’s what I thrive for in life, to leave a good reputation behind me, and to always be remembered for my good
Do you remember the teacher that inspired you to do your best? Or maybe the teacher who believed in you when the rest of the world had turned against you? Teachers have a way of touching students’ lives, whether in a large or very minute way. I can think of numerous times that a teacher made a difference in my life. I am so appreciative of them, and I want to do for other students what many of my teachers have done for me. That is why, after I obtain, both, my Bachelor and Master degrees, I plan to enter the teaching profession.
Throughout my educational journey through secondary school and college, different personal learning experiences have shaped and developed who I am as a student by gaining many important academic skills that I believe will be invaluable at university and beyond in my future career. At secondary school, my favourite subject was English Language and 10% of my GCSE grade came from my Speaking and Listening presentation. One academic skill that I developed was researching. I researched many different interesting topics, using a variety of different sources; for example, the internet and also the books and facilities at my local library.
“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family” (Strong n.p.). Anywhere a person goes, there are people demanding that people have a certain level of education. This makes wanting to get into a certain profession hard to do. By going to schooling you can get yourself and education, but by no means necessary do you get an education by going to school. But the question lies in how you go about achieving both them, and increase in learning. There are times when you can get some school, but the education does not fully come. This could be from the lack of teachers, or the encouragement that you get. It also lies in how much enthusiasm that you put
My educational journey has been like a roller coaster. I have been in the worst spot of my life time. Where I hate going to school but, also think about my father education. My career goal is one of my most important in my life to better myself than I am today tomorrow I will better than yesterdays.
My journey as a student has always been focused on the path to college and success. Before I even set foot in kindergarten my mother, a college dropout, always told me that “honor roll wasn’t an option” and that I would be attending college in the future and achieving a degree. Most of the time I made these requirements. Most of the time I was awarded honor roll or had a newly edited list of colleges to attend, but sometimes life got in the way of my dreams of achieving success.
