It is very important to be on time because accountability is everything. I suppose no one is ever late but if they are typing an essay will make them never late again. But on topic being on time shows that you are trust worthy and you can be depended upon. If we were actually deployed in a combat zone you would only want people by your side that you trust. You want to be on time because if you’re late it can mess up people’s schedules. If you show up late it makes people think that you don’t care about your career and that you are just shamming to get by. Being late is never acceptable under any circumstances especially when it comes to ones duties and responsibilities. I for one have learned my lesson when it comes to being on time and will use all my past knowledge and abilities to never let it happen again. Being on time is my duty as an American Soldier. As an American Soldier I should be on time to anything my superiors assign me to, whether it is zero six forty-five, or twenty-one hundred. I know, as a mature adult the importance of being on time. I will never lower my self-respect as a person to be late any time again in the future. I will always use all of my resources to make sure tardiness is never an issue again in the future. One of the most important things that most cadets learn in NJROTC is to be well disciplined. Without the discipline instilled in every cadet, there would be total chaos and anarchy. Discipline helps us to march, to be able to sit down and do our homework when it needs to be done, and to keep our mouths shut when someone else has the floor. Because of the two years that I have completed of NJROTC, I have developed discipline because the instructors and the other cadets have pounded it into my brain like a square block going into a round hole, but this time it got through. In the future I will need discipline to not only get a job but also keep it. If, in the future, I do not have the discipline to stay with a single job, my life will never amount to anything. Even though discipline is a large subject, the first thing about being disciplined is being punctual.
Every college student has deadlines, appointments, and possibly a job to balance. If these things are not met at a timely fashion, grades will plummet and they could lose their jobs. First this Tardy Policy deprived us students , we try are best to come to school on time but there's going to be days where we won't be on time due to problems. As a Millikan student I take the city bus at 6:46 everyday and it's hard and stressful, the bus can take long to get to school due to traffic. Also when my parents drive me there's always traffic , I always see students getting dropped off in the middle of the street just to try to make it on time. Hence, the restrictions that apply to the permission of disobedience are extremely narrow in the military. Commanders are aware that the sanctioning of a soldier's laziness one day, and the permission of sloppy work habits on another, distorts the uniformity of the military unit specifically and the military in general. The quality of leadership and followership declines and affects the overall standard of the military as a result. It is therefore of crucial importance to maintain the standards set by the military with regard to following orders and showing one's respect, trustworthiness, honesty and commitment to the work. This is simply not a negotiable aspect of military life.
The importance of being on time in the military (or anywhere at all), is simply a symptom of discipline, which was instilled in new enlisted soldiers during basic training. Being on time shows reliability. We have to show discipline, responsibility, show care through following military rules and regulations. Being on time not only pertains to accountability, but shows respect to our fellow soldiers, our unit, command and organization as a whole.
