Leadership starts with the person at hand. There are two types of leaders good or bad is a simple way to view it. Leaders can be characterized as someone with charisma, motivated, helpful. However, that’s not always the case. Leader have to understand that they set examples for their followers. Their number one job is to influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes and outcomes that reflect their shared purpose. Everyday people show how they could be leaders. One is in this time must understand that with the world evolving and growing that the leadership standards have to change. All leaders must have the paradigm concept and be knowledgeable. This stated that the fundamental way of thinking and perceiving the world today. A good leader has to be self-aware and comfortable with self. In order to be a successful leader first you have to evaluate your own flaws and be able to learn and grow from them. A lot of leaders aren`t aware of their flaws this is called a blind spot. The blind spot prevent leaders from perfecting their task. Their mindset have to be open and understanding. However a lot of leaders aren’t this way. One may wonder exactly what it is that qualities a strong leader possesses. A strong leader is determined, and strong willed. They must be of good judgment, and without bias. They cannot easily be persuaded, and they are firm, yet at the same time, a good lead must also empathize with his subordinates, and have the best interest at heart for said subordinates, at all times. However, with that being said, a good leader cannot be afraid to discipline his subordinates when necessary. Unmistakably, being a leader is a very difficult feat – one which not everyone can accomplish. A leader must be an authority, a friend and a counsellor, all at once. They must be responsible, and always take into account the disadvantages of a situation. Not everyone is suitable to be a leader, whereas, just about anybody can be a good role model.
Everyone has their own ideas of what a leader is, what they might look like, act like or maybe what their accomplishments were. They, who are the leaders are the ones who have made a changed in the world and have shown people how true leaders are recognized as. They may have made mistakes in life, but they each take leadership and they each are unique, having their own personalities and an individual quality that makes them a true leader. A leader can portray attributes like courage: having bravery and overcoming fears, confidence: to believe in oneself, and action: to be able to accomplish amazing deeds for the benefit of family, friends and others.
I have had both the pleasure and discomfort of being led by good and bad leaders. The way I simply define leadership is by being able to do as you say. Lead from the front and Set the example.
What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.
In order for a leader to be a leader, he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able to affirmatively influence “on others”. A leader needs to “believe” in himself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, to have some relevance to being in existence.
What makes a good leader? It depends. Most organizations look for individuals that have something to offer when they look at credentials or a great interview but looks can be deceiving does a good manager necessarily mean that a good leader I do not think so.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
A leader is described as a person who guides others and has authority and influence over others. They work to influence others into meeting certain goals. There is no right or wrong definition of a leader and there is no recipe that ensures effective leadership. Successful leaders have a good balance of vision, influence, and power. Leaders gain their authority from their ability to influence others to get the work done; because of this, anyone has the potential to be a leader. (Finkelman. 2012, p15)
Leadership is something nobody is born with, but it is earned with the desire to create something extraordinary. Being a great leader requires qualities such as approachability, acceptance, perseverance, and a open mind. With none of these qualities, many of the great leaders we know today would be unheard of. In Creativity, Inc. Ed Catmull talks about how the Pixar Animation Studios are designed for animators to communicate and collaborate with each other so they can build on each other's ideas instead of having many incomplete ideas. He wants there to be collaboration and not competition so that together, they can persevere as a company and break boundaries for what they can accomplish. Leadership is when a person takes on the objective to lead a group. Within this simple definition, there are more complex concepts that create a leader. A leader is a person who has courage, cooperation, integrity, and motivation to reach the goal that is in mind. Using these four qualities, a leader will be able to stay honest within every obstacle that comes their way, pull everyone together and work efficiently with them at all times, and inspire all members to keep pushing towards their goal. Leadership is needed and used every day, and in any activity, one participates in. Leaders are those who are or choose their position, but that is not all they must do. Leaders must be selfless, honest, and a great listener; without key characteristics, a "leader" would just be someone who enjoyed bossing others around. Selflessness is when your greatest interest is not in yourself, but in the ones around you.

Leadership is something that is heavily prevalent in the workforce and in the world today. Being a leader, in my opinion, takes someone (or a group of people) who is willing and able to lead a few or many people. Not every leader though is successful or leads in a positive way. There definitely exists both good and bad leadership. Many leaders fail while many achieve extraordinary milestones. But everyone, not just leaders, have their pitfalls and rough patches in life. I know that I myself have some weaknesses as a leader, and that is what I want to take some time to reflect on.

To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
