The Road to Becoming a Great Teacher
Every teacher has their strong points as well as weak points. Teaching is very hard work and some of them never grow to be anything better than mediocre. They do the bare minimum and very little over and above the call of duty. There are several ways to become a great teacher. Teachers are truly dedicated workers who put a lot of time and schooling into being able to teach for the rest of their lives.

Her communication skills are very important, whether she is speaking with an administrator, one of her students or an experienced colleague(Orlando,Web). The respect that the great teacher receives because of her professional manner is obvious to those around her. Professionalism is keeping whatever it is, inside the classroom or work environment. Keeping your cool and not bringing unnecessary things into the classroom that do not belong there. While teaching is a gift that seems to come quite naturally for some, others have to work overtime to achieve great teacher status(Orlando,Web). The payoff, is huge. However, it is a day and night grind to get to the top. All high school teachers have their own requirements they have to reach in order to be a licensed teacher. All states require public high school teachers to have at least a bachelor’s degree(BLS.gov,Web). Most states require high school teachers to have majored in that subjected area, such as chemistry, music or mathematics. While majoring in a subject area, future teachers typically enroll in their higher education’s teacher preparation program and take classes in education and child psychology as well(BLS.gov,Web). Requirements for certification will change by what state you are in. However, all states require that teachers have at least a bachelor’s degree. States require completing a teacher preparation program and supervised experience in teaching, typically gained through student teaching(BLS.gov). States usually require candidates to pass a teaching certification test, on top of test that shows their knowledge in the subject they will teach later
As I read these articles, I agreed with almost everything that was said. The Great Teacher Question: Beyond Competencies, by Edward R. Ducharme begins with a sentence that basically sums up my reason for teaching, “I begin this essay by defining a great teacher as one who influences others in positive ways so that their lives are forever altered” (Ducharme, 1991 p. 2). Over the course of a student’s education they will have many teachers, but there are maybe only one or two who are THE teacher. The teacher who impacts this child’s life in a positive way forever. The rest of the articles follow this same theme, suggesting ways that teachers can become THE teacher. One of the most important qualities I found in these articles (and one I

To become a teacher, a person must be substantially educated. In most cases, a Bachelor’s degree is required for the teacher to be employed. The Bachelor’s degree is in the field they plan to teach with a specialty in Secondary Education. Although only a bachelor’s degree is required, a Master in their field or a Doctorate in their field is more employable (High School Teachers). As well as a degree, a teacher
Successful teachers develop the whole child by making integrated efforts to promote their student’s academic, social and emotional learning. Children need to be aware of themselves and others; make responsible decisions, and be ethical and respectful of the people around them.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
Becoming a teacher takes more work than one may think. Each state holds extremely different rules in order to obtain a teaching license. When graduating from an education program there is a test that is needed to be taken that is called the praxis. When passing the test a teaching license is then received. Every state is
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
One must obtain a Bachelor’s degree, preferably within the course planned to teach; biology, chemistry, or any of the natural sciences. Once that is complete state’s licensure and certification requirements must then be met. Here in Texas you must take and pass the appropriate certification exams for the subject and grade level you intend to teach and then commit to a long life of continuous learning. It is recorded that people who fit the bill of a teacher possess some common personalities such as outgoing, sensible, logical (science) and organized. Some of their qualities consists of great communication skills, resourcefulness, public speaking abilities, and patience.
There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined. However i`ve always considered several of them essential. In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying, doesn`t underestimate the children, has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
A good teacher is able to form a professional yet caring relationship with his or her students. If a teacher has one on one meeting with his or her students, the teacher manifests a clear commitment to each student and shows that he or she invests in their academic development. A good teacher is one who is able to share certain life experiences with students to help them understand the teacher as a person. Teachers should not present themselves as perfect and omniscient. Being able to share jokes or maybe a funny scenario will keep the classroom interesting and keep the atmosphere more
Different types of licenses may be needed depending on what grade level is chosen. Licensing eligibility varies from state to state; however most states require the minimum grade point average (GPA) with the completion of a four year college degree. There is a saying that asserts that “anyone can teach” and I suppose in a way that it is true, but not just anyone can be a teacher. It takes a certain kind of individual to be a teacher and only a subset of them will choose to devote their lives to the education system. With its rigorous testing for both students and teachers alike and constant observations, the teaching profession is not for the faint-hearted or every Joe Schmoe you meet. To be a worthwhile teacher, it takes skills that not everyone has and a strong foundation because teaching is not only about what you have, but what you can give. These skills and areas of focus for teachers are commonly referred to as pedagogical competencies.
Future teachers will all have to reach a certain level of education and certification. Educational requirements can vary greatly depending on the state, but all states require completion of an approved teacher training program and a bachelor’s degree. Many states may require a minimal GPA and additional technology training including, a set number of education and subject credits. A small number of sates necessitate a master’s degree taking up to two years more of schooling than a bachelor’s degree. Other requirements could be student teaching which a lot of colleges offer. Usually for a semester student teachers will work beside an experienced teacher by observing and helping children in ...
First, I realized that, teachers carry a lot of weight on their shoulders and have great responsibilities. They have to balance the curriculum, students, parents, lesson plans, common core, and upper management and still maintain a professional demeanor. Second, educators must follow a strong code of ethics. They must be professional at all times with students and colleagues, keep confidentiality, not have or show any prejudice or bias, maintain safe and positive learning environments, help students with problems, and hand out disciplines accordingly. Lastly, I found that when you’re a teacher, your education never stops. Teachers are always trying to improve their own education and professional growth, both for the benefit of their students and for the benefit of themselves.
My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. Education is for everyone and it’s a right by low for all; teachers, on the other hand, should do their jobs very honestly and effectively.
