In 1893, Simon Pokagon spoke at the Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition. He was a prominent tribal leader who was known for this speech. The Special Olympics date back all the way to the year 1968. Many see these Games as a time to honor someone who is able to “overcome” a task, but author William Peace sees this as an insulting portrayal of people with disabilities. Peace is a multidisciplinary school teacher and scholar that uses a wheel chair and writes about the science behind disabilities and handicaps. As a physically handicapped individual, Peace is able to observe a negative portrayal of disabled persons. In his article titled, “Slippery Slopes: Media, Disability, and Adaptive Sports,” William Peace offers his own personal insight, utilizes several statistics regarding handicaps, as well as numerous rhetorical appeals in order to communicate to the “common man”
In our world, there are people who judge mostly on everything or anyone. Living in a world which people judge on people’s appearance is an unfair judgment towards the person due to the fact of not knowing who that person is. That’s why segregation was a huge part in history during the pasting of the Civil Act of 1964. The definition of segregation is the enforced separation of different racial groups in a country, community, or establishment. During the segregation it was basically a battle between the white people and the black people. This battle made it where at the point blacks had their own school and the whites had their own school, so they wouldn’t have to be near each other during this time. The story “Battle Royal” is a story that can relate towards segregation. In the story “Battle

Ryan Leckey, a morning news anchor, and a Pitt-Johnstown alumnus, has one of the busiest jobs in Luzerne County. Even though Leckey attended Pitt-Johnstown, he spent a majority of his time at WJAC TV, only being on campus during his class periods. “Since I spent most of my time at the TV station, I didn’t really have much of a social life, but it was a lot of fun, and I’m really proud to tell people I went to UPJ.” Leckey said he always knew he wanted to work on television, so he came to Pitt-Johnstown as a communication major, and then received his master’s degree in communication from Marywood University. “I knew (communications) would be a good background in case TV did not work out.”
As a result from extreme hard work and perseverance followed by an unmatchable drive to succeed, Donald J. Trump has earned the right to be known as a multi-billionaire, real estate icon, and President of the United States of America. Reflecting on his life, he has faced many challenges and overcame them all. To understand how he rose to success and his journey to the top of the kingpin, it is important to recognize how he saw the american dream and pursued it. Today, many recognize him as the president but very few can fully grasp all that he has done in his life. From his start as a real estate mogul, to his impact on media, there are many questions as to how he became so recognizable today.
Life presents a wide array of obstacles as well as opportunities, and it is important to be prepared to take on whatever it is that life has to offer. In his Harvard Commencement Address, Will Ferrell reinforces this idea into the 2003 graduating class of the prestigious Harvard University as they prepare to move on to do greater things. His comedic approach is successful due to his ability to evoke feelings of laughter from his audience while also making them realize that they are entering a new stage of life. Although Ferrell is speaking directly to the class of 2003, anyone who listens to or who views his speech will experience humor in an otherwise serious event, and they will reflect on their own life or envision their future. The speech was about promoting a book called “Kentucky African American Encyclopedia” co-edited by the speaker, Dr. John Hardin. However, the chief aim of the speech was to get inside the book and find why it is worth read. The subject was African Americans and the speaker profoundly connected them with the state of Kentucky. He showed how the presence of African Americans was impacting the territory even before it became a state. His interest in making a detailed analysis of the African American experience in the state makes him roam around the state to get any information on the blacks’ experience.

Mr. Griffin begin his speech with ethos by convincing us that receiving this award was "unbelievably believable". He convinces us that it’s unbelievable when your shock as great things happen and believable when you work for it. He says “Baylor we are and Baylor we'll always be, but it's up to us to define what that means, and this Heisman Trophy is only the beginning of that process” which is logos. It’s a logos because he is expressing why he deserve to get the trophy or claims. He mentions a saying that him and his teammates say to each other, "The hotter the heat, the harder the steel. No pressure, no diamonds. We compete, we win. We are Baylor" which is pathos. This pathos because in his speech as he said this it showed motivation and
Patrick Henry was a lawyer, patriot, orator, and an eager participant in about every activity that had to do with the founding of America. He was a founding father and strong advocate for republican principles. With his persuasive and passionate speeches, the famed patriot was an impetus for the American Revolution. Henry was born on May 29, 1736. In 1765, he was elected from Louisa County, VA, to the House of Burgesses. Soon after being sworn in, he introduced the Virginia Stamp Act resolutions, “in language so extreme that some Virginians said it smacked of treason”. It took much debate, but Henry succeeded in getting his proposal passed. He was an early voice of rebelliousness against Britain’s colonial policies. During the debate of the Stamp Act of 1765, he insisted that only the colony itself should be able to tax its citizens. Some said that he was speaking of treason, but Henry did not let them bother him. His proposals were printed and distributed to other colonies, which helped increase discontentedness among the colonies. In 1773, Massachusetts pleaded for committees of correspondence to be made in order to coordinate activities with the British. In response, Henry took the lead in Virginia. In March of 1773, along with Thomas Jefferson and Richard Henry Lee, Henry led the Virginia House
