As a student and aspiring artist, I am still discovering who I am and creating who I want to be. Although I am uncertain about my career, I am certain about my passion for art history and the strong likelihood of a future surrounding the arts. My passion and involvement in the arts has developed into a strong desire to learn and grow as a student and artist. I believe this internship will support my goals. I believe this internship will help me take that extra step towards my goals and will offer me an interactive, hands-on experience of the workplace and future I am seeking. Not only will it teach me knowledge beyond what I currently know, but it will also give me valuable working skills and further my understanding of art history as a profession. …show more content…
I consider myself to be a proficient writer, as I have taken higher level language arts courses and currently take Advanced Placement Language and Composition. I perform well in this class and consider writing to be one of my strengths. I believe writing is necessary and valuable in several ways for this internship–whether it be through reports or emails–and is a skill I can contribute. In addition, I am a competent speaker and I am capable of public speaking and oral presentations. As a person who prefers auditory and visual learning myself, I love presenting information and communicating with people. Furthermore, acting has helped me establish confidence and a meaningful presence and voice. I believe that social, speaking, and presentational skills are beneficial in an interactive environment, especially for lectures and gallery talks. However, the most notable skill I believe I can offer for this internship is my knowledge of art history. Currently, I take Advanced Placement Art History, my favorite and strongest academic subject. Besides applying the information and knowledge from this class into this internship, I can also employ the researching and analytical skills I have developed from my history classes. My artistic experience and involvement in the Echoes magazine may also be very useful for formatting, editing, publishing, and designing. I believe that artistic …show more content…
They are attributes I feel deserve to be celebrated more, but lack support in many places. I believe especially in open mindedness and the freedom of individual expression, which is why I am an officer of my school’s Gay–Straight Alliance or Spectrum club. I am a strong supporter and ally of the LGBT community, not only because I have friends who do not identify as heterosexual, but because I believe that anyone, regardless of gender or sexuality, deserves the basic freedom to love and express themselves. This is why I deeply value individuality and the greater need for acceptance of diversity. Furthermore, as a woman of color, I am a strong advocate for both women’s rights and minority rights, especially Asian representation in the media. As an Asian girl in a school with a large Asian population, I am surrounded by competitive STEM students, ingrained stereotypes, and a dwindling artistic community. From my school’s predominantly white cast in theatrical performances to the gradually diminishing band to art classes lacking Asians despite us comprising a majority of the school’s population, I commit myself to the arts to challenge the notion of Asians in STEM only fields and to hopefully encourage the much needed representation of Asians in the arts. However, while I have my own opinions and beliefs, I am also very curious of different perspectives and value communication. I believe that

The DC internship can help me further my skills/abilities in professionalism, because I can learn how everything should be done in the most in the most professional way. When it comes to professionalism I know how to do emails, dress, be on time ect. I believe that the internship can introduce me to new professional rules and norms.
However, Asians are rapidly becoming a greater force in American culture as the proportion of educated Asian-Americans rises. Despite small numbers, they begin to have more and more influence in the business and professional worlds as well as academics. They are an interesting group, however, caught between two extremely different cultures as they seek to strike a balance between the ideals of their parents and the world they live in.
Many Asians feel forced to conform to the stereotype, especially that of Asian working mostly in the scientific and technical fields instead of the humanities and social sciences. To be lumped together in a group leaves little freedom to pursue what one enjoys and finds is his or her strength. I have several Asians friends (not from Northgate High) who wish t...
When I entered my first year of college, I decided to pursue psychology as a major because I was interested in how people’s minds affect how they behave and their personalities. Despite not taking psychology classes in high school, I had a pretty good experience in knowing what was going on around my friends by observing their behavior, the tone in their voice, or actions, and I’ve learned to develop skills in offering good advice to them. It seemed useful to apply my skills to academics. However, I aspired to be more than just a regular psychologist. I wanted to find a deeper, interesting, and creative method that can help people who suffered personal issues, such as relationships and disorders.
Art is something that has been around since humans have roamed the earth. It has been created by millions of different people, and has been influenced by many things. One incredibly big influence on art has been religion. Artists usually create work to express feelings and convey different meanings. It is no surprise that religion plays a significant role in this creation.
From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. In year nine I realized that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. The Chase's art department encouraged me very well and helped me develop my art skills.
Throughout my life, I have loved to draw. Due to my love of drawing, I decided to take a career in something that has to do with art. A few things have happened in my life that has caused me to take this path. Three people that I have interacted in some way, are the reason for my choices.
When you love to do something, you want to do it every day, all the time, till you get sick of it. Even then that excitement and devotion to do it is still there. That is how I feel about art. I have a great passion for it. It is a form where I can express myself in a way words can’t.
Over the learning curve I have gained knowledge on how to animate a character, set up a layout for a scene or even develop effective storytelling ideas for my short film thesis, this gives me the experience and the need to apply for a Production Assistant Internship or a Production Coordinator , since I am presently working as a Resident Assistant for the academy of art university for a year, which has taught me how to manage my time and be organized and maintain self-discipline, as a student who is striving to start contributing towards the industry either by being able to manage a production pipeline, I feel the need to be exposed to the real scenario and this is a gem of an opportunity, to begin with. If given this intern position, my mind will always be open to learning and adapting the teachings from the pioneers in the industry and strive for excellence. I will especially be honored and thankful to work with a team with such unique storytelling methods which will completely revolutionize my level of approach towards setting myself a career in this story telling business. I hope to be considered for this
The Creative Arts play a significant role in early childhood education as it provides children with a diverse range of skills to enhance their learning and development to meet the needs of succeeding in the 21st century. Imagine a painting of your life, what colors would be there? How would you show the different times in your life? Would you shade the areas where you had a hard time or use lines to show that? Being a artist that never truly finishes their work would be hard. When you are young, your enthused about painting. As you start to get older, all you want to do is visit with friends, so you miss that part of your life. Then you get back on track and work like crazy to make up wasted time. But you think to yourself “Will I ever finish my masterpiece or will it end when I do?”
The arts have influenced my life in amazing ways. Throughout my life, art has been the place I run to and my escape from the world. As I’ve grown older, art has become so much more than that. Every piece of art I create is a journey into my soul. It’s a priceless way to deal with my emotions and my struggles. I create art not only because I enjoy it and because I want to, but because I have to. Somewhere deep inside there is a driving force, urging me to put my heart down on paper. I become emotionally attached to each of my pieces because they are like dashes on the wall marking my growth. Each one is the solution to a problem I have dealt with and overcome.
