A teacher take a hand, opens a mind, Touches a heart (Anonymous). High School and college teachers deserve higher pay than most opposing jobs. Some people may think if you begin to raise the hourly pay then the quality of teachers may go down. Teachers are actively working at school and at home.That is worth more than a 34,000$ annual pay (Alan). Most jobs require you to work during their work hours and get paid for their service. Teachers only get paid for the work they do during school hours and not for the many hours put in at home and after school. Basketball players just have to shoot a ball into a net and they make more than 23,000,000$ (Rovell and Bobby) a year that's more than 600 times what teachers make.Teachers deserve a much higher pay.
Firefighters have to learn how to do their jobs somewhere. Teachers have to teach everyone how to do what their dream occupation is. Yet they

In some cases that could be true. People also believe that education is one of the easier fields to study (Education). Degrees in education can not be equated with any other degree like computer science (Education). That is one of the reasons why teachers get a lower wage. Many people like Douglas Staiger and Jonah Rockoff have found a solution to not higher there pays but still get good quality teachers. Their solution is to allow applicants to have a degree in anything (Education). They also thought it would be a good idea to base their pay off of how hard they work, teachers who don't work that hard don't get as high of a pay, but teachers who work harder and want their kids to do great could receive a higher pay (Education). This method does work in most occasions and there is potential problems in any plan. Nothing is flawless like if you were to raise teacher wages quality of teachers could go down. That is just a minor flaw in an issue that needs to be
Solomon Gursky Was Here is an epic novel spanning nearly a century and a half, from the mid 1800's to 1980's. It is the story of the obsession of Moses Berger, a Rhodes scholar turned alcoholic, with Solomon Gursky, the charismatic son of a poor immigrant. Solomon, with his brother Bernard and Morrie, built the massive liquor empire of McTavish industries. Moses is attempting to write a biography of Solomon, which becomes his life's work. Through his investigations the complex story of five generations of Gurskys is revealed. The eldest is Ephraim, Solomon's criminal, perpetually scheming grandfather. Ephraim, is constantly associated with the raven, he escaped imprisonment in England in the mid 1800's by forging documents, also allowing him to join a crew searching for the Northwest passage, called the Franklin Expedition. The expedition turned into a total disaster, Ephraim, the sole survivor. The youngest Gursky appearing in this story is Isaac, Solomon's grandson. This complex tale unravels, as Moses recalls, all of the events in his life which pertain to it. Ever present in this Canadian cultural satire is the theme of filial relationships and the exploration of Solomon and his re-incarnation as Sir Hyman Kaplansky, in conjunction with his family and their exploits. Every character in this novel is in some way corrupt or failure. Moses is an alcoholic who did not live up to his potential; Bernard is a greedy self-centered bastard;
People think athletes get paid too much, but firefighters put their life on the line and police officers do too.
How does the rising cost of college tuition affect us? Every year thousands of students attend a college or university, usually of their choice, with the goal of achieving a higher education and to better their future. The cost of attending college is too high and it needs to go down; there needs to be more scholarship and grant opportunities. The high cost of attending college is a major reason that students aren’t able to achieve higher education; others take this as a challenge and it is motivation for them to work harder to achieve their goal. One might ask why would someone want to spend money to receive more education and miss out on more years of work that they could’ve performed? For many, it is so they can receive more salary for the jobs that they will have later in life, also so that they can get training for their wanted career. The cost of attending college is high and continues to rise without indications of decreasing. The rising cost has many benefits such as earning more pay, but it also has its disadvantages such as the debt that is accumulated from student loans. Not everyone can afford to drop down thousands of dollars and attend school for a few more years. Students who wish to receive a post-secondary education must decide whether it is the right choice for them depending on their financial standpoint, meaning that they must decide if they have the resources to further their education.
Taylor Mali, an American slam poet and teacher, wrote a poem titled, “What Teachers Make”. In this poem, he rhythmically tells about other professions criticizing teachers based on their choice of occupation. While teachers will never earn six figure incomes, they make a difference. Teachers dedicate their lives to leading, inspiring, and educating future generations, all while earning meager pay. Though teachers form foundation of education, their pay does not accurately represent their skills. Using merit pay systems will properly assess how much a teacher should be paid, based on their teaching ability.
Doctors,farmers, police officers, fire officials, military soldiers, and so many other people deserve so much more pay. All the following people risk lives, save lives, help lives and more have a much more important place in our world. Without some of these people we would be crumbling apart as a society. Not to mention teachers. We would not be here without teachers.
They’re the one’s who wake up every morning just to teach us something new. Teachers perform endless gestures to make sure we digest what we need to learn...but get paid so little doing so. Although not all teachers are perfect, more times than not, a teacher is someone who helps change another’s life for the better. They work just as hard as we do, maybe even harder, and since it’s their job they should be paid well for it. “They spend hours outside of the classroom designing lessons and correcting your child's work.” In my opinion, if a teacher has been teaching and dedicating their time and effort into a school for a very long time, their pay check should show it. Jenny Davenport, a senior analyst states, “we pay for what we value, and if we value education, we should value educators.” It’s not fair when an educator remains loyal to a school and helps it become better everyday and gets paid the same as a teacher who has only been there for a short amount of time. Not to mention, teachers also stay after school allowing the students extra tutoring hours, with no pay. If they’re putting for their most effort, as they’re supposed to for their students, they should get paid correctly for
Athletes over the world are being paid millions of dollars to play sports. There are firemen and soldiers that risk their lives everyday and do not get paid near as much as them. They play one game and get millions. Teachers work everyday of the week and their pay is way different.
Athletes and entertainers are overly paid. Their job is to just entertain the public, whereas other jobs in our country contribute to our society and freedom. Baseball players are putting on a chest plate to protect themselves from a baseball. Police are putting on a fireproof chest plate to be protected from bullets. Singers hold a microphone so everyone can hear their voice. Surgeons hold tools to do a heart transplant to save someone's life. Athletes wake up early to practice for a game. Teachers wake up early to prepare their day to teach those who are the future of our country. Athletes put on a uniform to show others who they are and to be recognized from others. Firefighters and soldiers put on a uniform to honor our country, risking
The controversy the NCAA has faced over this issue is plentiful and heartfelt, with opposing sides having countless arguments. These arguments are so polarizing, that you cannot be indifferent to the problem at hand, unless you are not a sports fan, in which case this article will not be totally devoid of interesting things. It will contain the argument for basic human decency, giving a person what is fairly owed, and remembering who brought you the fruitfulness of a multimillion dollar business. The NCAA has time and time again given weak arguments in favor of not paying the athletes. These involve saying they cannot afford to pay the athletes to simply not even paying them at all even if the use their likeness. Several current NBA athletes
Public education has been concern over the years. People in the United States generally believe that public education should get more funding. The options were to raise taxes but that was not in the vote of people. The people who can change it the most, the parents of the students, can’t. Studies show that parents are horribly informed about their students education, not even knowing about the new standards, common core adopted 4 years ago.
There is no more critical role in our current society than that of a teacher’s. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow 's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today 's Instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now, and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly however important teachers are in human civilization, they are still drastically understated, unrecognized and under paid. Although some people may argue that performance pay is good, performance/merit pay is bad because it will result in teachers doing much less personalizing of the curriculum, and spending that time doing only what things need to teach in order to keep their student’s
That doesn’t seem to be the case when discussing the salaries of elementary school teachers. To keep effective, quality, and passionate teachers in the school system something must be done to pay teachers a higher salary. One of the easiest ways to
The issue on education debt are bigger than we think it is. The problems has been debated and it’s unsolved. Cities school are facing this problem while some school in suburban area has never heard of these issues. Reading the article on “what school funding debates ignore,” the author argue that problems with education gap cannot be solved with money alone. However funding low performance school at least gives equal resources.
Teachers are what make the doctors, lawyers, policemen and the list goes on, yet many people still do not consider their job a profession. Argumentors ideology is a bit logical because not all students graduate high school; enter college/university, graduate and end up in a profession. Students are the reaped crop and if some are not delivering fruit, how can others tell that the students were taught properly? Also, as seen through Savage Inequalities: Children in American School’s, by Jonathan Kozol, some teachers should not be allowed in that field. Teachers are supposed to instruct, engage, and place attention to the students, but if they do not have a passion to educate the students, they will receive that negative atmosphere in the classroom and decide no to learn. In the beginning, teachers were mainly women because the government did not have to pay them too much. Currently, we have both male and female instructors doing the job. Teachers are educating the future, so they should receive proper education and tools, like a lot of other professions, teachers should undergo a series of lessons and tests every two years, so they can be kept up to date on the methodologies of teaching. Furthermore, in order to teach the children properly, teachers need the right materials for that peculiar subject. Lastly, teachers should receive multicultural training, so they know what types of students they are dealing with.
Every level of education passed minimizes one’s possibility of unemployment and increases personal income, which helps strengthen our economy. However, within President Donald Trump’s first one hundred days, he and his administration have already planned to shave off billions of dollars from the Department of Education’s budget. Not only is President Trump removing a considerable portion of federal funds from the nation’s education system, he is also transferring the majority of the education budget towards private-school vouchers and charter schools. If the bulk of the money is funneling into alternatives for traditional public schools, public education will continue to receive insufficient funding as a result of more and more budget cuts. The individual states are then expected to bear the brunt of subsidizing public education.
