People think athletes get paid too much, but firefighters put their life on the line and police officers do too. Players get paid too much. Rodriguez's made a deal for 275,000,000 to be on the new York Yankees team. The highest team player made 13 million in 2011. Low set paid bears player made 330,000 in 2011. Yes players do get payed too much. Are regular people payed far. Firefighters put their life on the line to save us but get paid very little. Surgeons should get paid more. Police officers put their life on the line as well to save us from wrecks and people getting killed. Regular people need to get paid more for what they do for us. Would you like to make a lot of money like Le Bron James made last year. Rodgers's made a deal with
But on the other hand, why should a person that hits or kicks a ball be paid as much as someone who saves lives. AFL players may have all this skill and everything else that some other people do not, but do they have the skill of saving lives on a day-to-day basis like a doctor does? Or do they have the skill of teaching children how to read and write like a teacher does? Yes, doctors are paid more but they do more as far as other people’s lives are concerned.
Firefighters, police officers, and military personal should be compensated more than other people because they risk their lives every day to keep citizens safe. It is never right just to view people as dollar signs because when you do this, you do not treat them like a humans and have no regard for their families. Taking both into consideration can account for the lack of resources while also understanding the emotional distress the families will go
Ever watched ESPN and seen a report about a baseball player signing a five year contract worth 150 million dollars? Now, with a little math, one would come to realize that that contract means that baseball player will make a bit less than 30 million dollars in that five year period. That is ridiculous. Why do professional baseball players as well as professional athletes in general make so much money just to play a game that little kids play to stay out of trouble? It is because people pay them to play, athletes unions that, for a large part, are used to force team owners to pay them such a high salary, and businesses pay them to advertise their products.
Do athletes get overpaid? Is it fair that the average NFL player gets paid 1.9 million dollars a year while the average heart surgeon gets paid 533 thousand dollars annually? I think that professional athletes don’t get paid too much. There are multiple reasons that proves that their pay is not excessive. Their careers are short, they risk their body for our entertainment, and they motivate children.
I think sports players should be payed more.I think this because football players can get injured and sometimes can’t play for the rest of his or her life.So they pay them more because when they get injured they will have to pay for the hospital expences. The soldiers dont get paid as much because they might be over seas and wont be able to use he money.
The problem with this is the inflation of players' salaries. When players are drafted young, they demand to be paid what they want; teams pay them millions right out of college.
These are just some of the reasons why athletes are paid so much money. The controversy of athletes being overpaid dates back to 1922, when well-known baseball player George “Babe” Ruth received $50,000 within the first year of his career. Ruth’s extensive wealth was bolstered by dozens of endorsements (Saperecom). As it is shown in figure 1, in the Fortunate 50 Tiger Woods takes the number one spot for highest paid athlete.
These athletes that are constantly hurting their bodies, losing sleep, and doing incredibly hard work don’t get paid a single
A men or woman wearing a helmet and gear to protect the country should be getting paid more than someone who wears a helmet to hit someone in the same country as him or her. (www.debate.org/opinions/should-the-military-get-paid-more-than-athletes). Men and women of the United States of America that serve and protect our country to go overseas and leave there family should get paid more, not that they want millions they just deserve more pay then someone who goes and plays sports. (www.debate.org/opinions/should-the-military-get-paid-more-than-athletes). 85% of this website say yes they should be paid more then what they do
First responders should get paid more if firefighters don't make enough money. Constantly risking their lives for the community and getting very little in return. Having this problem causes less and less fires every year. They cannot support a family of 53,000 dollars a year. This drives potential new recruits away.
I think that national athletes get paid too much because when they play one game they get paid close to 100 grand and that is what an average person makes a year. Which is a lot of money and that could buy a small town house and they make that a week. Witch makes it so that we are paying them with our tax money. This can cause confusion all around which is kind of annoying. This is also a couple things I found on the sites. Your average professional player earns between $1.54 and $5.3 million per year across all four major U.S.
The high pay of professional entertainers and athletes is very controversial. Professional entertainers and athletes are not overpaid for many reasons. The large salaries they receive are a direct reflection of their hard work, dedication and ability to perfect their craft. The vast amounts of money come from the people that pay to watch them play a game, sing at a concert, or act in a movie. Non-entertainment careers have salaries set by the government or supply and demand, not based upon the value of the people who choose to spectate.
There are many different opinions on whether or not professional athletes should get paid as much as they do. Many say that these athletes are extremely overpaid. Others think that they get paid a good amount for what they do. This is an argument that will most likely never end. People will always have their own opinion about this (KS, J. B. n.d.).
Based on performance and skill level you are rewarded with a wage. Professional sports players deserve to be paid this amount of money because they are one in a million, and not everybody can do what they are doing. Some athletes earn more than others because they have a really important role within their team. In order for them to earn more than anyone on the team, they must be talented or crucial to the teams formation. If you look at the kind of money that players
When addressing the value of entertainment, there is without a doubt, that we as a society value entertainment highly. But there is no reason that these athletes, who are here to merely entertain us, get paid higher wages than those that save our lives and teach us such as medical doctors and teachers. I find it ridiculous that players make millions of dollars a year, and yet demand more. The entertainment that these athletes provide is solely entertainment; it is not essential to the function or productivity of society. If I were to become a professional football player I would not complain about my salary for many reasons. I am playing the sport that I love and getting paid for it. The minimum wage for football is well over $100,000 a year, as is for many professional sports. These reasons by their lonesome are enough to warrant that the salary professional athletes are paid is suffice.
