Annotated bibliographies are used to question and test the strength of your sources. Researchers use them to find out whether or not the source they plan to use is worth using. While using an annotated bibliography you first summarize the source. Second, you assess the sources; credibility, why it's useful, and why it was chosen over another source. Finally, you reflect back and ask; whether or not it relates to your topic or not, how you can use it in your paper, and if it has changed your mind on the the topic.
Powerpoints are meant to be used any way you desire, but when you create a professional one, and you want to get your point across better it's best to follow certain guidelines. Such as: one message per slide, avoid long sentences/paragraphs,
It is vital for any presentation a well develop organization, is important to communicate with efficiency and clarity, a bad communication can turn out to be an unrealized business, or a misunderstood task. Although knowledgeable speakers, need to be prepare before giving a speech. When speakers rehearsed their presentations, they will deliver a good speech because they will look secured, prepared, and knowledge about the topic they are talking about. This will engage the audience, allowing the speakers to achieve the result desired which is persuade the listener to be involved in their projects. On the other hand,
In this book, Bauerlein argues that technology as a whole has had the opposite of its intended effect on American youth. According to his argument, young adults in the United States are now entirely focused on relational interactions and, in his view, pointless discussions concerning purely social matters, and have entirely neglected intellectual pursuits that technology should be making much simpler. He calls on various forms of data in order to prove that the decline is very significant and quite real. This book is meant to be a thorough and compelling study on the reality of what technology has caused in the U.S.
I have improved most in the WOVE area of visual communication this semester. Beginning the course, I did not know the correct way to create a powerpoint presentation that supports the speaker without being a distraction. This semester, I learned that only minimal wording is required on the slides to deliver the main points. The majority of the slideshow can be pictures, charts, or graphs, so long as it remains relevant to the topic. I specifically remember using this new technique for my part of the visual analysis presentation, keeping my bullet points to under five words, if possible.
“In fact, some corporations, like 3M, are banning PowerPoint from their offices” (Wahl, 2003). Employees can learn through analyzing, interacting with others, and discussing. However, PowerPoint encourages presentation, not conversation. Bullet points summarize everything into a few words, leaving no area to analyze or discuss the information further. According to Julia Keller (2003) PowerPoint condenses information into a “preconceived format” (para. 8) that is one-sided based on the presenter’s view of the information. A case study of three PowerPoint presentations directed to NASA officials was conducted by Edward Tufte (2003), an American statistician and professor emeritus of political science, statistics, and computer science at Yale University, to provide evidence of the dangers in using bulleted outlines. The case study was summarized by the
This article argues that there is a clear understanding of what crimes the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) measures. Citizens and the police are both in general agreement about what a serious crime is as it involves many different factors that make it a serious crime. The police and citizens are both part of the decision making process when classifying an incident as an index crime. The decision making process involves the following steps that are taken: defined by the victim, determined by the police, obvious accounts for most of the changes in whether a crime should be reported and officially recorded, personal characteristics of the offender, and the effects suffered by the victim. Studies show that crimes are reported to the police because the victim was greatly affected by the crime committed. Studies even show that not all crimes are reported to the police because the victim has a reason not to. I intend to use this article for my research to for my research project to explain why victims would report or not report a crime to the police.

We are able to use our annotated bibliography to reference and track all the sources. For instance, in the summary helps us to recall why it was selected and its relevance.

There are main features to annotated bibliographies such as, a statement of the scope, complete bibliographic information, a concise description of the work, relevant commentary, and consistent presentation. A statement of scope that specifies a short preliminary account to clarify what you’re talking about and this determines a setting for the bibliography and reveals a drive for composing it. Complete bibliographic information gives all the details about using the MLA, APA, or others that your readers or researchers will have the ability to locate simply. A concise description of the work is cautiously and impartially offering the right information and exhibiting recognition of the basis and as a writer this gives you influence. Relevant commentary is when you reflect on inquiries a possible reader would require and center on the appropriate foundation for your writing. Consistent presentation should follow a certain outline if it’s written in complete sentences or by a particular phrase this is called portraying the work.
RE: Microsoft PowerPoint 8/25/2015 7:13:01 AM Alexia, I like your post. It is a more informative than mine on Excel and Powerpoint. It should have came easy to me, but I could not think of all the uses

The presentation style of pecha kucha was a very unique and challenging one for me. In this type of presentation, I only had 20 seconds to talk about the content covered in each of the 20 slides. In most presentations, even if there was a time limitation, it would be an overall time limit. The first challenge was to divide all the things that I had to cover into exactly 20 slides and each slide has to cover similar amount of content. Usually in my presentation, the introduction slide and the conclusion slide will be shorter than the main body, yet in pecha kucha presentation, the first slide should be equally long as the rest of the slides, so I chose to state the main point right at the beginning and also to mention the flow of my presentation. Another challenge was that I did not know how much time I had used in presenting on each slides so I had to practise for many times in order to know how fast or slow I should speak in each slide and to ensure that the presentation would be
