Many people agree that Sony’s Playstation 4 is better than Microsoft’s Xbox One and vice versa. I have been gaming since I was seven years old and still am today. The first gaming console I ever had was the original Xbox. Throughout the years though, technology has improved vastly. The last generation of game consoles gave the industry a much needed boost and gave the consumer another commodity. With the eighth generation of consoles just arriving, a lot of people are wondering which console to buy. There is, however, more than just the choice of games. There’s differences in processors, graphics cards, hard drives, design, operating systems, ports, versatility, stability, controllers, and, of course, the games.
The following paper analyzes the initial release of Microsoft's XBOX 360 gaming system release into the United States and the changes that occurred with the supply, demand and pricing of the product in the months following its release. The social science of economics tells us that supply, demand and price are closely related to one another and have a significant on how much of a particular good is purchased and the rate at which it is purchased by consumers. The XBOX 360 phenomenon is a solid example of the impact that changes in supply, demand and price have on the marketplace and the rate at which goods are purchased.

Ever experienced a video game with stunning in-game graphics that some games give only in their major event cut scenes? Ever played a game with an excellent mixture of strategy and fast-paced motion? Well if that game is Final Fantasy 13, a single player game developed by Square Enix, you have played a game that Gaming Age calls “one of the most gorgeous games to grace a video game console”. Playing this game was one of the greatest moments of my life. This game has actually influenced me to go full force in wanting to make video games for a living. Final Fantasy 13, in my opinion, has accentuated the great gaming potential of the Xbox 360® and Playstation® 3 consoles.
The Microsoft Xbox has powerful components within that overpower any other console, including its CPU or it’s Central Processing Unit. The Xbox runs an Intel Pentium III 733-megahertz (MHz) processor. This is a lot more powerful than Nintendo Gamecube’s IBM Power PC 485-megahertz Gekko chip processor and even lower the Sony Playstation 2’s 128 bit “Emotion Engine” which is clocked around 294-megahertz. A few more components that make this console far superior to any other is its graphics processor, or GPU, which stands for Graphic Processing Unit. Microsoft had teamed up with Nvidia to create a chip that was made especially for the Xbox. The computer-based company ‘s 250-megahertz chip gives the console an amazing resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and 125 Million Polygons per Second. Sixty four- (64) megabytes (Mb) of DDRam back all this up, for great non-glitch games and smooth running. Nintendo also has a computer-based company teaming up with them to create the 162-megahertz ATI Flipper GPU Chip. This chip can only handle around 6-12 Million polygons a second and is only backed up by 43-megabytes of DDRam.
At this time, video games have made their way into the homes and hearts of many people since their meager beginnings as television novelties and arcade hits. But what goes into the process of creating a video game? Games, especially board games, don’t just happen. Their digital counterparts are not part of the exception either. There are painstaking processes and stages involved in creating and developing a game so that it is ready to be marketed to the public and so it also appeals to a certain fanbase or so it appeals to the masses. There is also the level of immersion and engagement that has to take priority within a game so that the player feels invested enough within the game to continue playing it after a certain period of time. The stages that take place within the creation cycle of a game can vary, but they usually follow three main phases. These phases are the Pre-production, production, then testing phases.

The video gaming industry has come a long way from the first home based gaming system since the Magnavox Odyssey. Through the decades, the video game industry has rapidly improved the technology to home gaming, and made arcades nonexistence. The major video gaming titans of today are Nintendo, Microsoft Xbox, and Sony Playstation. These three have been in war with each other the past ten years, and neither show signs of defeat. However the two leading competitors of high sales in the gaming industry are Microsoft Xbox and Sony Playstation. Both developers have been head to head on technological advancements and consumer marketing. Sony uses their advanced design of game console and their secrecy of their project to entice consumers. Microsoft however tries to direct their marketing strategy towards consumers themselves. With different marketing planning, both companies still show success. Sony and Microsoft’s entire production unit were sold out when they were released at their release date.
The threat of new entrants in the console video games industry is medium. If new game company comes into the market with
Video games have come a long way. They have evolved from the simple game of Pong into a complex, multi-platform, multi-genre, multi-billion dollar industry.
Video Games are a rapidly growing industry; developers have increased along with it. Companies that put their full time and energy into the development and marketing of their games originally held dominion over the video game industry. However, this isn’t true today. Today, video games can be made by a couple of people in a basement of a house. This doesn’t mean that the quality of the game is any less impressive, which can happen obviously, all this means is that making and developing video games is more accessible to the open public and not just to large companies and corporations. Which, in and of itself, is a remarkable achievement. People can now make a game that they would want to see and play, and not have to wait for a company to hopefully make it, or something like it.
Nintendo produced the first console in 1985 and brings in roughly $10 billion a year. While it remains the world’s leading player in video games, Nintendo faces major challenges over 2012-2017. This marketing plan assessment will analyze the company’s prospective responses to the challenge represented by Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles, and considers the possibility of Nintendo’s strategy of producing software completely for its own hardware in light of the rise of mobile gaming.
One of the new exiting up incoming trend, is the advancing in technology in video gaming consoles in three of the major companies, which include Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. All of these companies figure it out that in video games you do not need to sit in the couch and use a controller, it is ok to stand up and interact with the game. We are going to discuss how the client purchase the trend, how the client reacted to the technology advances and final but not least, how in the future it will evolve and may create another trends.
