Many people agree that Sony’s Playstation 4 is better than Microsoft’s Xbox One and vice versa. I have been gaming since I was seven years old and still am today. The first gaming console I ever had was the original Xbox. Throughout the years though, technology has improved vastly. The last generation of game consoles gave the industry a much needed boost and gave the consumer another commodity. With the eighth generation of consoles just arriving, a lot of people are wondering which console to buy. There is, however, more than just the choice of games. There’s differences in processors, graphics cards, hard drives, design, operating systems, ports, versatility, stability, controllers, and, of course, the games.
Microsoft has been only been in this industry for fourteen years. They’ve only created three consoles so far, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Their huge success with the Xbox 360 put them at the forefront of the battle. Their newest console, the Xbox One, was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in March of 2013 and released later that year in November. They told the world how revolutionary their console was with all of its innovate features. The console, weighing in at 6.3 pounds, is a monster of a device with 5 vents on each side of the console, it runs almost silent and experiences almost no overheating problems. Looking like a retro, 1960’s VCR, many people believe it is an ugly piece of hardware. Personally, I like the design of the console. It is big and heavy which makes it feel like a sturdy piece of technology. Inside the beast is an 8 core 64x AMD processor which runs at1.75GHz and features a Direct X 11.1 graphics card running at 1.2 Teraflops. It also comes with 8 GBs of GDDR3 RAM and a 500 GB H...

...ware. From their powerful cores to their incredible game experiences, they more than just meet my needs for a console but I have to make a choice. The Xbox One has the better games of the two and has a faster processor exceeding the PS4’s by 1 GHz. It has a better camera, is more structurally stable than the Playstation 4 and runs marginally quieter. On the other hand the Playstation 4 has a slimmer design and had a stronger GPU but a slower CPU. It doesn’t feature the games that I want but most of my friends are buying it. I would like to own both consoles but would not have time to play both so I will have to make a decision. I have decided to get the Playstation 4 due to its greater versatility and because of the greater amount of Indie games. The main reason though is that most of my friends are getting this console. Although I hope to someday own both consoles.
Atari was the first commercial video game company with hits like ‘break out” and “pong”. For many people pong was the first video game they have ever played. The idea of pong is that there is two rectangles that only move up and down and a little square that bounces around the screen until one of the rectangles miss, once the rectangle miss’ the game is over. This game may seem simple now but it sold 19,000 units so you can say what you want but back then this was the greatest game ever.
The Xbox One is considerably bulkier than the PlayStation 4, coming in at 13.5 inches wide, 10.4 inches front to back, and 3.2 inches tall and weighing 3.5 kg, making the Xbox One approximately 30% larger than the PlayStation 4. The Xbox One console comes in black, but different themes and colors are available. The left half of the

...lah S.). The PlayStation 4 released November 15 of 2013 and had preorders larger than launch sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 at one million orders. The people have waited almost 7 years for a brand new gaming console. That 7 year wait has tremendously increased the demand for the new console.
Do you or any of your friends play video games on a console? If you ask gamers the question, “gaming console you like the most?” they will probably say Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Xbox and PlayStation are known as the most popular gaming consoles of all the time. These two consoles have been competing for a very long time for the throne of the best game console since 2001 until now. In this article, we are going to find out which console has the best advertisement, We are going to determine this not by the console’s hardware, not by its cool features, and not by what exclusive games they have. It is because to grade the games and features are good or bad is kind of difficult because everyone can has different games
I chose the PlayStation 4 as my artifact because it is the computer that provides media and entertainment to the largest screen in a living space: the television. Having a beautiful eighty inch flat screen is useless without a device to play media. The PlayStation 4 is my device of choice to have connected to my TV. It is the jack of all trades, gaming on it is phenomenal, there is a Blu-ray player built in, and it has hundreds, if not thousands, of apps including Netflix. With a PlayStation 4 plugged into my TV I have access to endless amounts of content; A fundamental need to the college life.
The Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) is the most recent game consoles by Sony Inc. to come out. Becoming the trilogy of the Playstation series, the PS3 packs many of the same or similar characteristics as the Playstation 2 (PS2). But it also has its own characteristics which places it on another level. Being a highly priced console (ranging from $400-$600), there is a lot offered from the PS3 console. It includes high-definition graphics (HDTV compatible), a Blu-ray disc hard drive, wireless controllers, Gigabit Ethernet, and a built-in Bluetooth. There is also plenty of memory space available on the console. Sony has generated four versions of the PS3; there is a 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB PS3 game system. The PS3 has many wonderful features available, much worth the cost of an upgrade from the PS2. So get ready for an experience of a life time; like nothing you’ve experienced with the PS2; as there is plenty to explore while playing the PS3 game console.
The structure of the Video Gaming Industry is comprised of several stages. The first stage is the Development Stage. (3) Currently there are three giants in the gaming world. Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and, Nintendo’s Wii. For these consoles, there are companies that make agreements to release exclusive games. For example, one company can make games solely for Xbox 360. Another company can make games for a particular series offered by the Platform, such as Mario for the Wii. The most common companies are the ones that create games for all consoles, and have no agreement with any particular console.
In the console-gaming world people know Sony and Nintendo. Microsoft may be the largest and richest software company in the world, but it’s unknown when it comes to console gaming. Microsoft is counting on the Xbox to change that perception. Gamers may not be willing to take a chance with the Microsoft Xbox, even if it is far superior to any console ever made. Nintendo Gamecube is nothing if charismatic. Nintendo’s new machine is half the size of any other console and looks like a toy with its brightly colored plastic shell and handle. It’s destined to be home of such popular games as Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Kirby. Nintendo Gamecube seems mismatched as it goes up against the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony Playstation 2 (a multimedia mayhem that Sony says it’s supposed to be “The Future Of Entertainment”). All this makes you think; what makes Nintendo believe it can possibly go up against the ultra-sophisticated Xbox.
With further technological advancements which paved the way for high-speed internet connections, high-definition video rendering capabilities, it was not long before these organizations conceptualized their video game consoles as ground-breaking home entertainment systems. The incorporation of a Blu-ray player in the Sony’s PS3 console, the ...

The first is that the video game consol industry is an oligopoly and has to deal with the game theory. It is an oligopoly because it has high barriers to entry such as hardware subsidies and very fierce competition amongst already established firms (Scevek, 2001) Also there are only three major producers of video game consoles: Sony, Nintendo, and the recently Microsoft. Because these three all have personal interests the game theory applies quickly. The most recent example is the releases of the Playstaion 2 by Sony, the Nintendo GameCube, and Microsoft’s X-box. Early in the year of 2001 Sony released its latest Playstation 2 and its profits surged. They had increased 3.1% to 24.8 billion Yen, and 22.t million units sent world wide in the first fiscal year (IGN, 2002). Microsoft and Nintendo however had a different story. They decided to hold off sending of their product until the holiday season of 2001, a well-known purchasing time for consumers. However this induced competition for personal interests and both ended up worse off. While the Xbox had sold 1.4 million units, and Gamecube 1.3 million, Sony had 1.4 million units sold in its fourth quarter (Weintraub, 2002). That 1.4 million was in addition to the millions sold before hand. This unwise release is catching up with Microsoft as the profits for the X-box had halved to 190 million in 2003 compared to the loss of 60 million the year before (Yabedo, 2003), and it may soon be forced to leave the gaming industry. As it stands now the current owning of systems in households is 75% own a Playstation 2, 12% own a X-box, and13% own a Gamecube (yabedo, 2003). While the figures may be small Nintendo is building up slow but steady steam with its big name titles, and domination of the hand-held industry. Its recent release the Gameboy Advance has caused a make up for the loss by GameCube. It had so...
The first console was the Magnavox Odyssey. This console played games like Pong and were not very high tech but, were revolutionary since it was the start of a new age of home entertainment. After a few years or so consoles enter a new generation ending up at the eighth generation of consoles entered less than five months ago. Many companies have risen and faded trying to play the console game and only three now stand with a possible fourth coming to play. The altercations that have come along are incredible. Consoles brought gaming out of the arcades and brought it home in a compact size.
Owning a gaming computer is one of the best investments a person can make in their life. Having a gaming computer can greatly influence one’s entertainment ranges and personal hobbies. Every gamer or anyone who occasionally games should have a gaming computer instead of a gaming console. A gaming console only provides people with basic programs and simple user interface while a gaming computer can be used for any needs one need. A gaming computer is one’s own cable box but better. Having a gaming computer you can have it fully customized to fit whatever theme you would like it to fit, can run many programs and other applications faster than a console, and can be loaded with a plethora of multiple useful programs one can use.
Microsoft made a wise decision by choosing to outsource the manufacturing of Xbox to Flextronics. They are not as competent in making the components for Xbox as they are in constructing software. Flextronics, on the other hand, is a large enough company with ample funds and experience in the manufacturing of hardware, like Xbox. They have the expertise and logistics to produce efficiently and cost effectively, while maintaining the level of quality that Microsoft demands as a well-known brand.
