Next Generation Game Consoles
By John Copeland
Next Generation Consoles
In this Paper I will be talking to you about the Next Generation Consoles and about all of their specifics. Next Generation Consoles are the newest and the best consoles and computers out there at this point in time. The consoles that will be my main focus in this paper are the, Xbox One and the PS4. The reason I picked these consoles instead of other consoles or computers is because I wanted to explain to you that these console were just not any other console, but a work of art instead.
The Xbox One is my personal favorite gaming system. The reason the Xbox One is my favorite is because I have been a loyal Xbox user for 5 Years now and I cannot think of using any other system then the Xbox, it would feel like I was cheating on my wife. Enough about me and my personal opinion though, let’s dive into the specifics of the Xbox One! The Xbox One is exactly $400.99 US dollars at your local Best Buy Store. When you buy the Xbox One Don’t only get the console but you also get the Kinect and a controller. We will get more in depth with the Kinect and the controller later but right now I would like to focus on the console. The Exact dimensions of the Xbox One are (LxWxH): 13.1" x 10.8" x 3.1" / 33.3cm x 27.4cm x 7.9cm. If at this moment your like, John I don’t know how to read dimensions, that’s ok let me simplify it for you, it is a very sleek and compact machine. Here are the basic specs of the Xbox One. It has a 8GB DDR3 system memory 5GB’s of that memory you can use toward you games, the other 3GB’s are used for the console’s operating system...

...cial expressions, and can even detect your heart rate. This amazing piece of user interfaces allows you to control you Xbox with your hand motions and your voice! Also you can play games with this amazing device! We have stepped out of the age of just pressing buttons on a remote and now we are on the age of actually using our hands and feet to control our games, amazing right!?!? One amazing thing about the Kinect is that you don’t have to go out and buy it separately from your Xbox; it actually comes in the box with it when you buy the Xbox One! The exact dimensions of this amazing and extraordinary peace of art are, (LxWxH): 9.8" x 2.6" x 2.63" / 24.9cm x 6.6cm x 6.7cm. In the new version of the Kinect there some major improvements, here are the improvements that they made. On the Kinect 2.0 It has a 1080p, HD camera that can capture video at 30 frames per second
Microsoft has been only been in this industry for fourteen years. They’ve only created three consoles so far, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Their huge success with the Xbox 360 put them at the forefront of the battle. Their newest console, the Xbox One, was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in March of 2013 and released later that year in November. They told the world how revolutionary their console was with all of its innovate features. The console, weighing in at 6.3 pounds, is a monster of a device with 5 vents on each side of the console, it runs almost silent and experiences almost no overheating problems. Looking like a retro, 1960’s VCR, many people believe it is an ugly piece of hardware. Personally, I like the design of the console. It is big and heavy which makes it feel like a sturdy piece of technology. Inside the beast is an 8 core 64x AMD processor which runs at1.75GHz and features a Direct X 11.1 graphics card running at 1.2 Teraflops. It also comes with 8 GBs of GDDR3 RAM and a 500 GB H...
The first thing to think about when choosing to buy a console is the type of hardware is used for that console. Both the Xbox One and PlayStation4 both have some similarities in their hardware like their HDD, Audio/Visual output, and Wi-Fi. The differences in hardware of the Xbox One and PlayStation4 are the GPU and CPU. The PlayStation4’s GPU has 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeion Graphics Core Next Engine which is better than the Xbox One, the PlayStation4’s CPU is a Low Power x86-64 AM “Jaguar” , 8 Cores which is slightly better than
Do you or any of your friends play video games on a console? If you ask gamers the question, “gaming console you like the most?” they will probably say Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Xbox and PlayStation are known as the most popular gaming consoles of all the time. These two consoles have been competing for a very long time for the throne of the best game console since 2001 until now. In this article, we are going to find out which console has the best advertisement, We are going to determine this not by the console’s hardware, not by its cool features, and not by what exclusive games they have. It is because to grade the games and features are good or bad is kind of difficult because everyone can has different games
The Xbox One’s features trump those of the Playstation 4. Although many of their features are very similar, Microsoft has taken their gaming system to an entire different league. It not only serves as a gaming device, but also doubles as an entertainment hub for your home. The technological upgrades and new features put the Xbox One ahead of its rival PlayStation 4 in almost every category.
Another feature that is a first in the console industry is Xbox’s internal 8-Gigabyte (Gb) Hard-Drive or Hard Disk Drive (Hdd). This contributes too much of Xbox’s weight, but gives many features. With this you don’t have a need for a memory card to save your game files, you save them right to the hard-drive. This is a very nice feature on the Xbox, because it saves you money.
The video game industry has grown very powerful over the last five decades due to gamming consoles. A new generation of gamming was created, taking games from arcades and putting them in one’s household. Although arcade games were a great hit, there were modifications that needed to be done to them to make them smaller and more compact. In 1967, German born Ralph Baer and some of his coworkers were the first to get an actual prototype to work on a regular home television. After the console, Magnavox Odyssey (1972), was released and made a big impact on the market, more and different companies and corporations released more systems with such specifications. Although the consoles had been a great hit, there was only one playable game in each console. The purpose of creating gaming consoles was mainly to provide families with their own videogame console at their own home. However, the modifications made to these consoles were very small but at that time it took a long time to be able to develop adaptors.
Today's video games are becoming more and more realistic, and that means that the basic hardware of the console is being better developed to incorporate the changes gamers want so much. The PS4 has a one of a kind CPU, central processing unit, aptly named the 8-core single-chip x 86 AMD “Jaguar”, but in more simple terms it means that the computer chip inside the PS4 is more power efficient and runs more smoothly with less lag. On the other hand, the Xbox One has a 8-core Microsoft custom CPU, and it uses a lot of power, and runs less smoothly which causes a greater lag period between when you press a button on the controller to when the action occurs on the screen. Something that has bothered gamers as far as the console itself is the hard-drive. The PS4 is far more advanced when it comes to its hard-drive, and that is because it has a removable 500gb which can be upgraded when larger hard-drives become available. The Xbox One has a non-removable 500gb hard-drive which is non-upgradeable, and that means that a Xbox One player would have to buy a whole new separate external hard-drive in order to continue saving information, or just completely buy a new Xbox One. Graphics are a vital role when it comes to the hardware of a console. According to some gamers it is sometimes more valuable than the CPU. S...
These three consoles have battled each other for 4 years now, and people a lot of times are confused about which console is the best. This is why I am interested in comparing all three consoles based on these three categories: Game Play (the variety of available games, user friendliness, and user’s age orientation), specifications, and price. I put game play as the first priority because no matter how advanced the console is, if it is not playable, then there is no reason for it to exist.
The Wii was Nintendo’s fifth game console, designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, released as a direct successor of the GameGube. Its original codename was “Revolution”, but was later renamed Wii in order to symbolize the concept of two people playing together (as Wii is a homophone of “we”). The main focus of the Wii was to introduce a revolutionary level of player interaction, instead of paramount graphics or maximum power that drove its competitors (Wii, n.d.; Wii: The Total Story, n.d.). There is no doubt that the Nintendo Wii brought video game playing to the next level, being the first major console that required body motion to play interactive games, which in turn only took “approximately 45 months to reach the ‘30 million units sold’ milestone, making it the fasting selling console of all time” (Purewal, 2010). As of 2010, the Nintendo Wii was the fastest selling console since its launch (Wii, n.d.; Wii: The Total Story, n.d.).
They also have an SSD which helps with the loading time and transition between doing stuff on the Xbox. Xbox: Making gaming so much better and making people love it way more than any other
PlayStation’s main competitors over the past 20 years have been Microsoft and Nintendo, however, initially there were others too. PlayStation’s first release in 1994 was a part of the fifth-generation era, where home consoles began to display 3D graphics. The three main consoles on the market in this era were the Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64 and the first PlayStation console. Before the first PlayStation was released, Nintendo and Sega (as well as Atari) were the primary competitors in the video game console market at the end of the eighties to the beginning of the nineties. The Sega Megadrive (1988) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1991) were wildly popular - the Megadrive sold 20 million units and the SNES sold 49 million units worldwide. The next generation of consoles released by both Sega and Nintendo were far less successful than their predecessors. Both Sega and Sony used optical disc technology - however the Saturn was criticised for being harder to develop for, and third-party developers chose to produce for th...
All console video game players know the two big competitors, PlayStation and Xbox. They are constantly at each other trying to one up the competition. They both just released their newest console, the ps4 and Xbox one. In my humble opinion (backed with facts) I believe one just destroyed the other one. This would be the ps4. It's superior hardware, exclusives , and ability to let you save money gives it a huge lead in front of the Xbox one. For gamers the decision between these two is a huge choice and I'm here to lead you in the right direction.
While playing online you may come across lags or crashes during games. Next is the amount of storage you can fit into one console that separates the two. The following reasons are opinions on why I think ps4 performs better than the Xbox one. My first reason is that I find that ps4 have more convenient prices for of the products, while I got my ps4 at $399, the Xbox one
“The heart of the PS3 is the Cell Broadband Engine, developed jointly by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM (Wildstrom, 2006, p1)”. The PlayStation 3 has a Cell Processor which is essentially nine microprocessors on one chip. This allows the system to perform multiple operations at once. The graphics card, which provides some of the sharpest graphics, was made by Nvidia. There are two different versions of the PS3. One has a 60GB hard drive, WiFi capabilities, and the ability to read various flash ram cards. The other version has a 20GB drive, but does not have WiFi capabilities or the ability to read various flash ram cards. The 60GB PS3 is shiny black with a silver accent plate that protects the Blu-ray drive and the 20GB PS3 is clear black and has no silver plate. The PS3 has a built-in Blue-ray disc player which is High-Definition. It can play Blue-ray movies, PS3 games, CDs, and DVDs.
Owning a gaming computer is one of the best investments a person can make in their life. Having a gaming computer can greatly influence one’s entertainment ranges and personal hobbies. Every gamer or anyone who occasionally games should have a gaming computer instead of a gaming console. A gaming console only provides people with basic programs and simple user interface while a gaming computer can be used for any needs one need. A gaming computer is one’s own cable box but better. Having a gaming computer you can have it fully customized to fit whatever theme you would like it to fit, can run many programs and other applications faster than a console, and can be loaded with a plethora of multiple useful programs one can use.
