I am going to discuss and analyse the whole experience of the rehearsal process leading up to the final performance.
Initially, my strengths through the rehearsal process were: choreographing the physical theatre scene; being the leader to support and motivate everyone; showed professionalism in discipline and time management. This all began when we started choreographing the physical theatre scene howl. As soon as I taught my choreography everyone instantly began contributing interesting ideas. This demonstrated professionalism and ownership of running a play.
Secondly, I had several weaknesses throughout the rehearsal process. The first was not giving and receiving enough support from the group. This was because we initially wouldn’t be focused in a rehearsal. For example, there would be jokes made and information that was off task being discussed instead. Another weakness was finding the inspiration to create scenes reflecting AIDS from the monologues. This was because we had not discussed key moments and highlights in the script and music.
From the rehearsal process, I have realised that I have changed to be more directive and supportive whilst also trying to balance out the two. I used to be overly directive and unsupportive when working in a group; however, I have adapted to give support to the people I work with and also give everyone the opportunity to lead a rehearsal lesson. These rehearsals have helped my negotiating skills and support for others, in the sense of their ideas’ and suggestions.
Then, when getting feedback from my team members I responded by taking action immediately. For example, due to the strong language in Nick’s monologue, I had to change certain words for audience aged restrictions; I had only been r...

...ause there needed to be someone taking the role of a leader to help support everyone when they struggle, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Most importantly, the most useful and effective rehearsal techniques were breathing, vocal and physical exercises. The physical exercise benefited everyone because it would help stimulate our thoughts and ideas throughout each rehearsal because our body was physically active and fluid. For example, in the rehearsal period when looking at howl, it prepared our physicality of movement and body posture reminding our muscle memory of everything. This would even include physicality down to our actions of monologue gestures. The second exercise was breathing. We always made sure we were aware of our projection towards an audience by making sure we had correct body posture and breathe control. Finally the most important exercise was vocals.
In addition to this, during a certain part of my monologue, the audience laughed and I did not expect that. As an actor I need to be aware that there will be moments like these and still be able to stay in character and continue on with the same dedication. After my performance, I was surprised by the feedback that I got from the class. The comments lifted my spirits about my performance and prompted me to trust the choices that I make in future performances. Yes, there is definitely room for improvement, but overall, I am pleased with
preparing us for the tragedy. I will be focusing on Act 3 Scene 1 and
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
Performing or public speaking of any kind is difficult, but that difficulty can help to build confidence. Fine arts gives students the ability to perform and build confidence with their own support team of people who do and love the same thing. Not having to perform alone and knowing that everything possible has been done to ensure a good performance helps performers be confident in themselves and in their abilities. “Puneet Jacob, former choristers and current assistant conductor, says kids are often afraid to perform because of fear of failure.” (Lefebvre) The more a person faces their fear, especially when they do well and the fear is disproved, the less afraid he or she will become. When students work on music or a play for months on end, they become much more confident in themselves and what they can do than they were when they first began.
Performing- The performing stage is where everyone is clearly aware on what they’re doing and the purpose of what they’re doing. Everyone is able to share their ideas with others. Confidence is showed among the team members as their able to communicate to other team members without help or assistance from the leader. They can take charge of their own ideas. The team focus on achieving their goals .Although the team can disagreement with...
Being a leader you need to be in tune with your talents, strength’s, and weaknesses. Personally I feel I have many skills and talents. I am a great friend, I’m trustworthy and dependable. I can step up to the plate if needed and I can take control of certain situations without being told to. I love writing and being able to express my feelings or thoughts through writing and poetry. Along with my talents and skills I also have weaknesses. Knowing your weaknesses is twice as important as knowing your strengths in my opinion. One weakness of mine is being motivated. Once I start a task I will finish it and put 150% effort into it, but actually starting the task is my problem. Another weakness of mine is change. I have a problem with drastic change; I have a comfort with familiarity. With every leader there is going to be strengths and weaknesses and I think it’s very
The components can be broken down into the following: dance and movement, character portrayal, masks/puppetry, music, costume design and idealistic process. Each component will be analysed in detail in an attempt to portray how this effectiveness has added to the overall musical vision.
My communication style tends to float between two very distinct classifications found in the Forbes’ Communication Styles PowerPoint and the DISC Personality Profile descriptions. This assignment has allowed me the opportunity to further reflect upon my own communication styles in varying environments, as well as identify and hopefully minimize the weaknesses that I need to improve upon before I become the sole administrator of a site. To gain respect and build trust as an instructional leader, communication is a two-way street; staff consumption of messages is just as important as administrator distribution of them.
In the beginning, Ms. Geis would quietly sit quietly during entire managerial team meetings, but now she is more confident in her abilities, position, and will speak up. “Now I give my opinion or raise questions to ask. Sometimes, I may raise a concern that gives ...

It’s no secret that actors have many ways of preparing for a role. Some prefer to use techniques specific to major theorists, while others prefer to use a blend of theory and personal techniques. Personally, I prefer to use visual aids, such as photos and videos, to help create a character. Visual aids allow me to create an emotional and visceral connection to the character, which, in turn, creates a stronger, more complex story for the audience. This not only applies to performing, but to choreographing as well. Throughout the process of Godspell, I have incorporated images and video, not only for myself as an actor, but, for my cast mates to understand the direction and vision I have as a choreographer. These visual images help me to remember
... tragedy. I think as a director the acting skills I would use most likely with my actors is to know if they are capable approaching indirect action on stage, I think that’s something that the production will consist of repeatedly. The theme throughout the play is constant illusion of self awareness and others around you. I need an actor who can go on stage and become the place and time. The set would consist of few elements, major obstacles of what I want to get across to the audience, by doing that it won’t take away from the feel of the play and what’s it trying to convey. This is a story of an idealistic son of a corrupt merchant exposes his father’s duplicity, but in the process he destroys the very people he wishes to save. Gregers Werle forces his friends, the Ekdals to confront the truth about their lives, but the truth only serves to wound them further.
After completing the group task of preparing a presentation on, transferring individual facilitation skills into a group work setting I will critically reflect upon my own participation. I will evaluate my self-awareness while working in the group, as well as those around me. The way that I personally dealt with any issues that arose within the group and how that affected the group dynamics. I will also briefly discuss the roles in which each member of the group took and how role allocation affected, the group dynamics and the working relationships. Finally I will evaluate my work having discussed it with my fellow group members.
I’m tired, a little stressed and disappointed with some of the group members this week. This has been the most challenging time in group so far. Everything is usually fine, but something is off this week. Although, we have group chats, our group cohesion is off. After, deciding to do the outline one way, we ended up doing it another way. That was cool until individuals brought the confusion. One person thought this way, the other thought that way. It was a mess. Our group dynamics were all over the place. The impact this had on me was very negative. With your help Mrs. Evans, we eventually decided to keep the outline simple. The other group members picked their duties, while mine were assigned to me. It did not bother me that I was assigned duties. Actually, my absence from the meeting helped to decide what I was to do. When it comes to the norming and forming of this group, I find myself at a loss for words. The norming process is off. There is less cohesion than usual; we have not been as effect this week. Also, relationships do not seem to be strengthening. This makes me angry because it affects us all. Unlike the norming stage, the forming stage is pretty solid. All of us are comfortable (in my opinion) giving our opinions, and we understand what is required of us. There is no need to form rules they are already in place. In my opinion, some of the members did not follow the rules. I for one broke a rule.
In my Learning team, my personal strength is having good people skills. I meet and get involved with new people everyday whether it be work or school related. I enjoy speaking, listening and giving input to my team members so that they are aware that they can count on me to participate as a team player in our Learning Team. Good people skills are very important in a group setting because of all the di...
