According to former American Businessman, Henry Ford, he describes working as a team as, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” When working with a group there will always be struggles and roadblocks that could lead your group to any form of success. However, it takes a successful group leader who is able to keep the group working together to reach the common goal as working as one. This paper will demonstrate the integration and understanding of group dynamics and structure. I have selected the Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society to discuss the following five main principles in each group: the purpose of the group, the individuals and their roles of the group, the structure and the norms that …show more content…
The reason why I’ve selected this group for my study is because when starting college, I was very nervous that some of my professors would not understand why I learned in a different style than the other students in the class. But my expectations had surprised me, all of my professors were able to understand that although I would have taken a quiz in a different classroom, have a note taker or record their lectures. From this, the professors had seen the hard work and dedication. By joining the honor society, I learned how to my own advocate, which brought on new challenges because I was in …show more content…
The honors society celebrates students with high academic achievement and seeks to promote disability awareness and combat stigma at Cabrini College.” Who are the individuals who are involved within the group? Maxson and Wagner described the individuals within the group as “about a total of thirty students, whose ages are from 18-24 years old and are mainly Caucasian. Students should be registered with Cabrini College’s Disability who have accumulated more than 30 credits and a cumulative 3.1 GPA. Students must be comfortable publicly identifying as having a disability.” Both had added that within the honor society that when entering into the group it is a fun, loving family who are welcome to all students. Also, Wagner had mentioned to me that in the past couple of meetings this semester that there have been more female students that are underclassman compared to a low number of males within the group. Kathleen mentions, “I advise the group as a staff member and help students formulate ideas and proposals for idea generation that they can adapt and change but I would like students to do the majority of implementation and planning of events. It can be difficult when meetings are not frequent to scheduling conflicts.” The meetings for the honor society normally meet on Thursday nights around 5:30pm
I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity to possibly be a member of this very prestigious organization. Every day I work tremendously hard to be noticed by both other scholars and my teachers. Now that an opportunity has come, I am truly excited to demonstrate and live by the values of The National Junior Honors Society. I hope to further expose and show both my dedication and want to join arms with my community and my peers and I wish to continue to work with passion and fire to shape the world into a brighter place.
I would like to begin with saying that I am honored to be invited into the National Honors Society. I am continually setting high standards for myself and to join a group of like minded people would be a very satisfying reward. I consider this invitation for application an incredible opportunity for forward advancement in my scholarly journey. So, to dive right into why I would like to join this honored society, I will briefly expound on my character and traits for you.
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...

I expect to become more hands on in different charity events that I’m not familiar with. I would like to improvement my personal status and security, and the meeting of the everyday demands of living.
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
Being inducted into the National Honors Society is what I have been waiting for. Becoming a member is nothing more than a dream come true, and I appreciate it greatly. If I am to be chosen as a member I know that I will be a positive and dependable participant in society activities. Due to my abilities and past experiences, I can be considered a valuable candidate because I demonstrate the qualities of leadership, service, and character. I do feel that if I am chosen, I will do nothing detract from the prestige and respectability that is associated with the society.
When I initially received the epistle inviting me to apply for the National Junior Honor Society, my inceptive thought was of gratitude for the recognition. My academic success has been a staple in my life since pre-kindergarten. Whether at school or in any other setting, learning is one of my major objectives. It gives me the self satisfaction of obtaining knowledge and sharing it with others. Maintaining an unweighted GPA of 4.0 for the past 2 1/2 years in middle school has not been without challenges, but those trials will help to develop strength needed to navigate through
I am honored to have the privilege to be an applicant for National Honors Society. Recently I have learned that the four pillars of National Honors Society are Leadership, Service, Character and Scholarship. Based on these characteristics I feel I identify greatly with them. I believe I possess the four characteristics, because no matter what is thrown my way I will strive to work my hardest and accomplish all ta

The dynamics of group behavior is described in many different ways; however, the main point remains the same. According to an article on Group dynamics, a group can be defined as several individuals who come together to accomplish a particular task or goal. Group dynamics refers to the attitudinal and behavioral characteristics of a group and how groups form, their structure and process, and how they function. Group dynamics are relevant in both formal and informal groups of all types. In an organizational setting, groups are a very common organizational entity and the study of groups and group dynamics is an important area of study in organizational behavior. There are five different areas of effective group functioning in which will be recognized
I am interested in the honors community since I am an honors student myself, I believe that I will be able to provide the most help for those students and be able to share my personal experience and be able to help guide them towards success. In addition, I would like to see the study succeed and I believe that I could help achieve this by encouraging study groups within the hall and set up meeting times for those that are in the same classes to encourage study groups. In addition, since I am already apart of the honors college, I think making sure that the residents are informed with the events that the honors college is putting on is very important, to make sure that this is achieved I would contact the honors college to get a calendar of
This week’s report deals with the concept of in and out-groups. As we begin, we will be looking into what exactly makes an in and out-group. We will also study the concepts of in and out-groups. Once we wrap up the first portion of the research we will immediately be going into our second section. The second portion will consist of describing a personal example in which I was part of an in-group situation. Once I divulge my personal example, I will be describing a situation in which a colleague of mine found himself in an out-group situation. Once we study these two situations, the report will navigate into the third portion in which we will be analyzing and explaining some of the differences between my in-group situation and my colleague’s out-group experience. As we move into the fourth section of the report, we will be looking into how in-groups and out-groups affect organizations and their employees. The fifth section of the report will explain how the out-group situation in which my colleague found himself was directly caused by an extend of a non-task related factors. Finally, as we reach the final section of the report, the report will describe some of the implications that can occur when leader’s develop a relationship with their followers.
For a majority of high school students, life is like fresh snow covering the road, simple and a little daunting. My journey, however, has been paved with financial burden, family issues, insane opportunities, and overwhelming achievements thanks to the four National Honor Society pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
A group exists when two or more people define themselves as member of it and when its existence is recognized by at least one other. (Rupert Brown 1988). The group is a collection of individuals they accept the common task and their interdependent in their performance to promote its accomplishment through interaction with one another. On the other hands group behavior originate from the grounds that contribute to the group’s efficiency. Other groups interconnect with groups function they expand their own exclusive set of uniqueness they also develop group structure in which they have cohesiveness, role, norms and process. Group may participate with other groups when groups are work together, and inter group competition which is also built the conflict. Group behavior has been a subject of considerable study in mid 20th century (Alford, 1994; Brown, 2001; Hogg, 2000). We describe the group development we found that group dynamics consists of a set of technique which is related to the internal nature of the group. Significant goals and developing events early in the group’s life is very helpful. Group size should be in-between 5 to 7 members that are the best elements of both small and large groups. Stages of groups development is Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing.
