The food might be okay but if the service was bad then who would want to go back? Chick-Fil-A has many guidelines and procedures in place to ensure each guest has a remarkable experience. If a Team Member takes an order a parent with a young child, that Team Member ensures that that the beverages are brought out to the table as well as the food. On the way to the table, a Team Member will pick up straws, placemats for the young child, and dining utensils so the guest can remain with their family and avoid having to make extra trips before they can enjoy their meal. During peak sales time, employees go out with an I-Pad and take orders in the drive-thru. This speeds up the time each customer has to spend in the drive-thru and allows for personal connections to be made. McDonald’s is not particularly known for great service. Usually employees are not seen going above and beyond for a customer. It might occur but it definitely goes unnoticed. McDonald’s is more known for food rather than remarkable experiences. Overall, In the fast food industry, Chick-Fil-A and McDonald’s do seem to be on the opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to the cost of the food, the quality and nutritional value of the food, and the service each customer receives when visiting. It seems that Chick-Fil-A comes out on top in all three categories because they go above and beyond in everything they do no matter if it is the cost of the food or the great service they are providing to their guests. That is why Chick-Fil-A is growing around the Quad City area and is becoming number one in fast
Chick-fil-A recognizes that their brand promise starts the minute the customer enters the premises. When a store opens for the first time, the franchised operator doesn’t just see an opportunity to sell his food product, but rather a “chance to interact, build community, and engage with customers and the community at large. We do this in a variety of ways. First and foremost, we strive to provide 2nd Mile Service to each customer. As we work to continuously improve, we want customers to experience something unique. We want to build community and create relationships between our customers and our food, people and restaurants” [3].
In 1946 two brothers, Ben and Truitt Cathy, opened a diner in Atlanta Georgia called the Dwarf House Grill. The Dwarf House served a variety of typical grill food that included everything from burgers to hot dogs. All of that changed in 1961 when a poultry supplier stopped buy and sold Mr. Cathy chicken breast that were too large for the trays that they typically cooked the chicken on. Truitt Cathy decided that he did not want to throw out the chicken so he breaded the chicken and put it in the pressure fryer. He realized that he could cook the chicken in the same amount of time that it took to cook a hamburger and it tasted great. He had hamburger buns and pickles in the restaurant already and this is how the first chicken sandwich was made. In 1967 the first Chick-Fil-A store was opened in Atlanta’s Greenbrier Shopping Center and in 1986 the first freestanding franchise was opened. Today there are more than one thousand seven hundred Chick-Fil-A restaurants in thirty nine states. One of the ways that Chick-Fil-A has been able to make their company a success is through their unique approach to customer service. They are able to provide excellent customer service by turning individuals into team players. Teams can be seen in the hiring process, community involvement, national sponsorship, knowing what customers want, and cooperate culture. All of these different teams lead to excellence in customer service.
Chicken nuggets is a popular food to many people. Many may ask who makes the best fast- food chicken nuggets ? This question is probably the most opinionated question ever ? There are many fast foods restaurants that sell chicken nuggets such as: Wendy’s , Mcdonald’s ,Burger King and Chick- fil-a.These four different restaurants all have different tastes to their nuggets. Now in my opinion ,chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-a are the best . They have great chicken and that is more flavorful. One other difference from chick-fil -a and these other fast foods restaurants is there chicken isn’t processed. The chicken is seasoned and cooked to perfection in the restaurant. According to Johnson , Chick-fil-A takes the title. The classic McNuggets are second, followed by Burger King and Wendy's.
The fast food restaurant industry, which includes quick-service and fast-casual restaurants, is highly segmented with the top 50 companies accounting for only 25% of the industry’s sales. The $120 billion industry includes over 200,000 restaurants with 50% of those specializing in hamburger entrees. (hoovers.com 2008) The major competitors in the industry include McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, and KFC – Chick-fil-A’s major competitor in chicken sales. Chick-fil-A’s unique position in the market, specializing in chicken-based entrées, has lead to a competitive advantage which the company has been able to capitalize on. Recently, many competitors have added chicken entrees in order to compete in the market segment. Through marketing strategies and company initiatives, Chick-fil-A has tried to stay distant from competitors, offering a fresh alternative to the ordinary fast food restaurant.
When Chipotle first opened in 1993, the goal was to serve quality food fast, but not be considered “fast food.” To avoid falling under the fast food stigma, Chipotle strives to find the best ingredients with respect to animals, farmers, and the environment. In order to achieve these goals, Chipotle has created a matrix organizational structure that is divisional by location and functional by authority. Chipotle recently expanded internationally to the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, each following strict guidelines assigned by corporate employees from their headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Similarly, each location is functionally organized according to authority: regional manager, district manager, store manager, assistant manager, and
In today’s society Americans want everything quick and cheap, so the question stands what is a quick lunch and what is available for an economical price? Americans live in a world that surrounds us with fast food restaurants. Two of the most well known restaurants for fast food restaurants is McDonald 's and Checkers. Far from what we imagined, McDonald 's and Checkers have huge differences. Most people perceive them just as the same fast food restaurant with different names. For this reason, they create debates on which one of them is the superior restaurant and which one is the more economical price. Though neither of these companies provides the healthiest foods for Americans the question stands, which one is for lunch today? Even though,
“Fast food is popular because it's convenient, it's cheap, and it tastes good. But the real cost of eating fast food never appears on the menu.” – Eric Schlosser --
The American life has been transformed by the fast food industry not just changing the American diet but also the culture, workplace, economy, and the landscape. “Today about half of the money used to buy food is spent at restaurants-mainly fast food restaurants.” (Schlosser) This could be due to the fact that about two-thirds of working women are mothers. The impact of fast food on the American culture is transparent when just looking at McDonald’s. McDonald’s has become the world’s most famous brand; the golden arches are more known than the Christian cross. “A survey of American schoolchildren found that 96 percent could identify Ronald McDonald.” (Schlosser) McDonald’s is responsible for 90 percent of new jobs in The United States. The landscape has changed due to the fast food ...
In conclusion both fast-food restaurants give their customers value, but at different levels, for different target population. Out of the two McDonald’s seems to give their customers a better value for their money.

McDonald’s is known to satisfy your taste buds without breaking your bank account. Since 1930 when the first drive thru fast food place was opened the workers actually cared about how they were preparing their food. Now with the demand of people wanting to get a full meal but for very cheap, McDonald’s would be the best place for that. When approaching McDonald’s, you may think you are getting a cheeseburger for a great price, but really we have no idea what we are eating. It is a known fact that you can leave a cheeseburger and an order of French fries out for years, and nothing will look old or mold, just cold. McDonald’s food is so pumped with fillers and products that we should not be eating. This study was done on several occasions that the food does not age at all. You sometimes question when you visit a fast food restaurant how they make any money and stay in business with employees. But the reality is the food you are eating is not what you think it is. If we knew what boneless meats were made of we wouldn’t eat any of them. I can’t even imagine what the chicken nuggets are really made of, and why the meat in them really is “dark”. Even the burgers look like patties, not the ground up ground beef burgers. The dollar menu is designed for a cheap dinner and smaller portions. But the truth behind the dollar menu is that there is too many calories vs. income for the employees. That food that they are
