In order for learners to understand the difference between themselves and reality in a classroom there are materials or resources that must be used. Learning and teaching support materials refers to a spectrum of educational material that the teacher use in the classroom to support specific learning objectives, these are all materials that facilitates learning and includes all materials that aid learning and teaching for learners.
The main purpose of this research is find out how learning and teaching support material can act as a bridge between learners and reality.

Media may be a distraction to learners in many ways. Learners may not focus on the purpose of the lesson rather on the media used, e.g. If a teacher uses images in a history class for a certain lesson, learners may concentrate on those images rather than on the purpose or the message behind those pictures. A distraction is defined as, a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. When technology is brought into the classroom distractions are a huge issue. “…Cell phone screens can become walls between students and professors. Students performing multiple tasks (instant messaging, Facebook updating, and so forth) are also blamed for distracting other students from concentrating on the lectures or classroom discussions” (Falk, 2013). Different types of technology, such as cell phones can give students many other ways to learn than just listen to a lecture.
The world’s technology advancements are quickly developing, thus, unquestionably, contributing to the extraordinary benefits obtained by students, parents, and educators. Students are provided an enhanced understanding of diverse subjects due to presentations, use of the Internet, and various programs, assisting them with projects, homework, tests, or merely general interest. Classroom computer use is certainly beneficial to parents as well. If a student does not have computer access at home to complete a project or essay, it could easily be completed on the classroom’s computer. This avoids any conflicts that may arise from families that do not have access to a personal computer. Teachers are able to easily compose a multimedia presentation to, not only help teach the class, but also to assist the pupils while taking notes and ensuring their understanding of the topic.

Due to the enormous impact media plays in the lives of citizens, media literacy must develop into an integral component of school curriculum.
Children can be influenced and impacted in many ways whether it is from their parents, peers, and even strangers. One thing many people don’t realize is that many children, nowadays, are actually being influenced by the media, meaning they are being affected by different media sources, such as television and the internet. The question is whether the sources of media, television and the internet has a positive effect or a negative effect on children, and which source of media has a bigger effect.
Acknowledging and facilitating individual needs with resources that enrich the learning process. This could be attained by taking the classroom and the learning outside, to another classroom either in person or via Skype, inviting community members into the classroom to share information and to participate with children in the activities and learning opportunities (Claiborne, Morrell, Bandy & Bruff, 2014).
Furthermore, the learning process is easily enhanced when technology is used. First, with Internet access in each classroom, it allows the teacher to access massive amounts of information in just a few seconds. This information can be given to the students in a clear, easy to read format as it is projected onto the screen. With such easy access to information, students are able to learn more in a smaller time span, while teachers are able to be more efficient in how they teach. This makes the education a person gets from their school more valuable for their money; and money is important as college costs continue to rise.
Technology has changed many aspects of our lives, so why should we expect less of the classroom atmosphere? Technology in the classroom has changed the way students learn and the way teachers teach. Technology today is integrated into the classroom as a teaching tool rather than being taught as a course. There are many ways that technology is used in today’s classroom such as the World Wide Web, Power Point, and Excel (Starr, 2011). Teachers will continue to be the most important aspect of a child’s education because they teach and technology does not. The use of technology in the classroom can bring advantages to a child’s education but can also bring disadvantages (Cleaver, 2011).
In my teaching practice, as a Health and Social Care Teacher, I try to identify and meet individual learner needs, boost their morale and encourage them using all the necessary available and on target resources. Values and attitudes were influencing the way our students were learning at all times; therefore, they are considered an important part of the curriculum, hence the purpose of teaching and learning resources is mostly to provide a source of learning experience for our students.
Instead, EL students benefit in learning new content knowledge when an instructor methodically produces a lesson with a systematic I do you do approach; while purposely adding visuals whenever possible. Modeling content knowledge can be accomplished when the instructor writes the objective or provides an outline of what the lesson entails in student friendly vocabulary for each lesson where students can visually see. Next, the instructor should discuss what the end goal of the lesson is through hand gestures and changing the speed and tone of the voice to elaborate key concepts. Additionally, teachers should provide visual vocabulary whenever possible. Playing videos, word walls, or showing pictures of key vocabulary in a lesson will help students who struggle with differences in language grasp what is being asked of them more clearly. Lastly, instructor should show examples of projects and essays for reference. This will allow EL students to visualize the end product; allowing them to organize their ideas and
