Three Concepts to Academic Success
Academic success comes in many forms. It varies from each individual depending on their own point of view. Some might believe that "interest" on the subject that they're studying matters the most, being passionate and enthusiastic when studying leads to academic success; while others could argue that stringent management of time is the scientific way to succeed academically. None of those beliefs are wrong, or better than the others, they differ on the people that practice them. A method can work perfectly on one person and reflect terribly on another. We each need to find the right methods that work for ourselves, instead of doing whatever ways that seem functional on other people. To me, the three qualities

I start by dividing my workloads into small doses, so that I don't stifle myself by doing too much at a time and begin to hate a subject. Once discovered that I have no problem handling the work amount of the original plans, I would slowly and gradually add my workloads from time to time. Maybe add a few more pages to read, do some extra math problems, listen to some innovating lectures... Anything that could get me not only to grasp on the knowledge I have now, but work ahead a bit, go deeper into the subjects I'm interested in, and improve the subjects I'm currently struggling with. It all comes down to exactly how much I want to master and excel at my school …show more content…
I know where my mental and physical tipping points are, and as long as I don't endanger myself by pushing me off the limits, there will always be a space left for me to improve. I can understand now just where my destination awaits from the beginning I start to work on it. By keeping a positive attitude along the way through my studies, I would never easily let go of my determination to succeed in learning. Surely I will have to face a lot more depressing stuffs on my future way of studying, but I believe in my heart that though there may be hardships and difficulties along the way, none of it could last forever. All in all, if I may quote from Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth
This includes organizational skills of when to study, when to spend time with family on top of how deal with my own sickness and disability, along with my children’s. My challenges have, also, grown. They include fears of starting new things, fears of whether I can accomplish an A (perfection), and fears of really finishing anything to completion. There is a lot of things I have given up on in my past. However, I forgot the accomplishments I have had. I forgot my Faith that burns so strong. And, I almost forgot, Christ is my ultimate Prize, goal and future even if nothing else materializes. I know I am an achiever and I can do more than what I have been settling for in the
For instance, I can make sure all my questions about my homework are answered before leaving school for the day, and then I can do something like setting an alarm on my phone for after school to do my work, or I can even start writing in a planner to organize my assignments and other activities. The second thing I can do to improve my academic excellence is by completing any extra credit my teachers may offer me. By doing these extra credit assignments I would be going above and beyond my teachers requirements for their class. Not only would this improve my grades, it would allow me to get a better understanding of what I am doing and give me more practice. The third and final thing I can do to improve my academic excellence is to study and work harder for higher quiz and test scores.
The article “How to Be a Success” by Malcom Gladwell speaks about how success is something that can be achieved if you put the time and work into it, and how success is not achieved overnight but rather through long hours of constant practice. His article is targeted to more than one group of individuals. The groups of individuals that his article targets are teenage students, young adults, adults, people who want to become an expert, or want to succeed in something they have an interest in and in general society. Another article also related to the success of an individual “An A+ Student Regrets His Grades” by Afraj Gill describes how in society many schools focus more on students’ grades, rather than their learning, and how a student is
A successful student is always prepared for any planned event which he or she is attending. I think I exemplified this whenever I went to clinicals, because I believe one is not able to have a successful
...ut fun, I'm stressing my mind too much. Austin Dopp and Thomas Parish created an ABC journal about how to succeed in college. They mentioned that students need to study but also take a break and be ready to learn and pay attention (Dopp, Austin, Parish). Powers and Swick mention in tip seven, celebrate small accomplishments along the way, is that you should celebrate your small accomplish like tests, quiz, and finishing you semester.
To give my personal philosophy of success I would first have to define “success”. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. My success philosophy that I plan on implementing from now on is accepting personal responsibility for the good and bad choices I make. There will be time when I need to focus on school and worry less about my free time. If I have a test to take I have to study for that test to get a good grade and continuous good grades will help me pass the course. I can’t depend on anyone else to do my work for me I’m personally responsible for completing my assignments and turning them in on time. When the weekend comes around and all I do is procrastinate by telling myself I’ll study later. The smart thing to do about this situation would be to think wise and use my time-management strategies. I’ll always have time for myself, so sacrificing some free time now is well worth it. This helps me to be a creator and not the victim about things and keeping up with the self-management strategy. The success strategies that I will use will help my learning style, self-management and self-responsibility. Most people believe success is just having lots of money, cars, and women but I believe success is an individual sport and I have to be ready to play because the outcome of my performance is based on the work I put into it.
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.

What contributing factors affect student motivation towards success in college? Motivation is a force that helps people to achieve what they yearn to be, which helps people conquer obstacles to reach a goal. Students can be physically present in the classroom, but mentally absent. Many things can play a factor in student academic success from the quality of the professors’ lecture, to sufficient and modern facilities or the effective engagement between student and professors. In many researches including the books Lives on the Boundary by Mike Ross and Academically Adrift by Richard Arum and Josipa Roksa it demonstrates factors that students face in the achievement of academic success. Those factors that coincide on student academic success are motivation, life responsibilities, and preparation.
...tivation, master self-management, adopt lifelong learning, and accept personal responsibility as my own. Keeping these all in my mind to will be guaranteed a bright future. Putting my mind to it will help motivate me on my journey to success. Knowing motivation will help me have the energy to overcome the obstacles of life, being organized and knowing what I have to do to succeed, finding the positive in every situation to gain wisdom for the future, and openly understand that it is only my responsibility to take care of my success and nobody else’s. Doing all four of these strategies through my voyage will give me the assurance that my mind needs to get through it. Being positively sure that I will and can get through this.
Being a successful student and achieving continued academic success is fundamental in order to complete an associate degree and become a successful professional. College is challenging, but it can be a rewarding growth experience and easier when setting up goals. Having educational and career goals helps students keep the focus and motivation. Besides, having knowledge of different learning styles can help students learn about themselves and increase efficiency while studying. Writing skills learned in college are also a powerful tool for both academic and career success. The campus is a great place to find tools to succeed and achieve continued academic success. It is also important to keep academic honesty as a good habit and as a value of integrity throughout college and later on in the professional environment.
Academic excellence is thought to be a very high-prioritized achievement in today’s society, and in order to reach many goals of success knowledge is the key. Although knowledge is very helpful, without grit you will never achieve great things.
The academic journey from my childhood up to my ongoing college experience was an important role in defining who I am as an individual. Like any other person, I eventually gained the understanding and importance of essential qualities like time management, work ethic, developing strong mental mindset, and many other things throughout my years of education. Fortunately for me, I became aware of these things much earlier than my peers around me. However, being aware of these things was only a fraction towards success. Over time I’ve realized that the most critical part of success was gaining the discipline and willpower to apply these lessons and concepts.
Academic study is necessary to help an individual to adjust themselves to the society .It combines certain values in individuals which could serve them in life, in events that goes beyond institutional boundaries. For example, a person who has received formal education will be able to distinguish between what is right for them and what is not. Others, they learn only through their own experience. It provides an academic body of values which can be used to carry out practical work. It is used to encourage stability in individuals. While in grade school, I had many dreams of what my intended profession was going to be. Examples of a few include; meteorologist, storm chaser, respiratory therapist, fashion designer, and dental hygienist. While I had many great influential people in my life time, I was greatly influenced while I was in high school by my family and consumer science teacher Mrs. Pompy Womplebottom. While I was never a student who made the highest of grades, I was a student who was willing to learn and accept the things that I could not change. After graduation from high school I knew which college I was go...
In academic life, skill and effort are not synonymous; the effort does not guarantee a success, and the ability starts to become more important. This is due to some cognitive ability that allows the student make a mental preparation of the causal implications the management of identities of skill and effort. Such self-perceptions, even though they are complementary, they do not present the same weight for the student; According to the model, perceived how adeptable is the central element. In this sense, in the school context teachers value more effort than the skill. In other words, while a student waiting to be recognized by their ability (which is important for your esteem), the classroom acknowledged their effort. Accordingly, three types
