5. Naturam Primum Cognoscere Rerum, (“first to learn the nature of things”) is the ANU motto. By using examples, discuss how this motto aligns with your approach to learning, in and/or outside of school. (300 word maximum) For me as a student, understanding the basic fundamentals of everything I do is crucial in achieving success both at school and outside of school. “First to learn the nature of things” is a notable motto because it is actually an approach to learning. Allowing myself to explore topics that are covered in class gives me the advantage of not only broadening my knowledge but clarifying any doubts. Grasping the key ideas of any subject builds a strong foundation for my Year 12 and university studies. Throughout my education …show more content…
Learning the theory of violin makes it easier for me to understand the arrangement of musical pieces so that I can play with more confidence. The same applies for my other hobbies; I first master the basic steps and practise until I am certain I can proceed to the next level. This gives me reassurance, because the fundamental basics of any activity provide essential knowledge that is required for progress in that area. I find that the ANU motto is relevant to every person because learning is a continue process, and success in our learning is dependent on the extent to which we understand the nature of …show more content…
Opti-MINDS encouraged participants to brainstorm for sustainable solutions to problems. The problems had to be interpreted through an image, poem or story which added to the complexity of the situation. I was able to implement my leadership skills in the challenge by allocating tasks for my group members and setting deadlines. In 2014 I was the leader of my group in the Tournament of Minds challenge. The Tournament of Minds was a stimulating problem solving programme and under tight guidelines regarding the use of materials and dimensions, my group created a recyclable sugar distribution device. This challenge encouraged me to develop my leadership skills and work effectively in a team. From 2013-2015 I was an active member of St John Ambulance Queensland. I volunteered as a First Aid Officer at various public events including ANZAC day 100th ceremony. I was offered the opportunity to attend a Youth Leadership Program hosted by St John Ambulance Australia to further my training in First Aid and fulfil the requirements of a Cadet Corporal. I also demonstrated workshop to my peers and attended a CPR and Basic First Aid workshop to receive accreditation to treat patients. At the annual St John Ambulance Presentation night in 2014 I received the award for Most Improved Cadet of the Year and in 2015 I received the award for Pride in the
Learning is important for countless reasons, the most important reason being that it molds a person into who he or she is. What people choose to learn, and also what they choose not to, create the core of their opinions as individuals. Though people do not admit it or openly declare it, it is fair to say almost everyone is self centered. Because of this, and the fact that learning dramatically affects a person, learning is not only thrilling, but also expressive. Furthermore, since learning is expressive, its meaning varies from person to person, therefore making each person’s experiences with learning unique and life changing.

College will require a great degree of self motivation and personal responsibility from the student. It would be great if during the primary stages of the college introduction the student took inventory of several personal traits that can impact their learning. A student should also be able to honestly assess his or her strengths and weaknesses. Awareness of shortcomings will arm the student with the ability to enhance them. Having awareness of strengths can help the student further develop their strong areas. Parallel to becoming aware of strengths and weaknesses, is becoming aware of one’s dominant style of learning. Chapter 2 introduces the concept of different learning styles, but encourages the student take personal responsibility for their education by adjusting to the env...
Independently, within the Australian health care system’. The role of the paramedic is ever changing, but never so much as it is of late. However, there has been little reflection of those changes in either the perception of the discipline as a profession or the manner in which the profession is trained, socialised and educated. Paramedics currently at best are seen as semi-professional and a great deal of discussion about whether the discipline actually wants to achieve full professional status exists. In the past twenty years from 1995 to 2015, paramedics have been the main provider of pre-hospital care, transitioning from ambulance drivers to the current practitioner role. However paramedics are not yet classified as health care professionals, even though they work alongside and in conjunction with other recognised health care services. The paramedic industry therefore works independently from other health care organisations and autonomously and exclusively within their own state organisation. This essay explores the evolution of paramedics and investigates the advancement in the skills and recognition within the ambulance service over the past twenty years, highlighting their present status as a semi profession. Investigation into the state specific capacity of a paramedic and the imminent changes enco...

I will explain the psychology of learning and the theories I use in my practice. Analysing these theories and teaching methods will give rise, to investigating how these will help in teaching and learning ‘In a nutshell, a principle is a value, belief or ethic relating to something you do and the theory is that which explains why it works’.(Wilson 2009:350) In delivering of a lessons, educator must keep in mind SMARTER objectives.
It is my extreme privilege that I have been given an opportunity to express about myself in my very own context. The very fortunate thing ever happened to me was that I had a very good early education which helped me a lot in the following time i.e., during and after my schooling. As I grew up also did my interests, at first Mathematics was the only topic which always dominated my interests but later on my interests made a shift on to the field of sciences mainly Physical Sciences with the introduction of many interesting topics in it. That was the time since which the inception of my interest in the field of sciences begun. Learning had become the key part of my life since then.
Learners need to know- Why am I learning this? What is it that I am learning? How will it help me? How is it important? In summary, if I need it, then I will learn it.
One very important factor in every life is the education received as we mature. Education in all subjects is necessary to become a well-rounded individual. Even so, I feel that my subject area has more significance in one’s future because every person uses mathematics every day. Students need to understand why mathematics is important and why they will need it in the future. The way to do that is integrated into the views of the role of the teacher. Teachers need to be encouraging role models that provide students with safety, nurturing, and support in the classroom, along with providing excellent instruction by allowing students to explore and expand their minds in the content of mathematics. Teachers should set high expectations for all students and persuade the students to live up to those expectations. Along the same lines, teaching and learning are complementary concepts. Students need for the teacher to provide them with the knowledge that will be used not only in that class but also in their future endeavors. ...
I want to teach students more than just the material; I want students to be able to apply skills learned in the classroom, to the real world. An important factor in teaching is to teach life skills as well as giving students the tools to survive in the real world. Teachers are like role models; at least we should look at ourselves in that way. Our job is to aid our students in becoming functional individuals in society and our experiences can be used as a guide. Taking an active part in my students learning is essential to me. Posing questions encourages students to think. This gives the students an opportunity to analyze, discuss, synthesize and apply the material in real life.

My philosophy on education and learning is simple; to teach my future students to the best of my ability to achieve academic success. As well as getting to know my students well. Getting to know a little of their background can help make a difference in our teaching career. As a teacher, we care for our student’s educational needs and to achieve a full potential in their learning ability. I believe that education is an individual, unique experience for every student who enters a classroom. Having a passion for teaching and providing students with a proper education should always be a teacher’s top priority.
