A Reflection On Procrastination

As I reflect on the group presentation, all that comes to mind is the word procrastination. The preparation process was a little frustrating because not everyone in the group took the project as seriously as the rest of us. The deadline crept up on me kind of quickly because one minute we had a month to prepare and the next we only had two days. It started off as if we would have no problems getting this project finished with time to spare. We set dates to meet, assigned parts, and established deadlines for us to have certain things finished before each meeting.

When you work as a team, it really shows a person’s work ethic and character. It was not all bad, in fact I gained a lot of respect for my group members throughout this process. The most satisfying thing about the entire project was that we whether we wanted to or not, we had to be in it together. Even though we could have been more prepared, we all pulled it off at the end. Procrastination is not something that should be routine, but I do it all of the time. I knew that I didn’t want to be the reason that our group failed, so I made sure to do as much as I could to complete the presentation. I was not sure if everyone had their parts in order and were even going to show up to present. I took the time to meet with who I thought would have an issue before the presentation and offered to go over our parts together, but they still were not prepared. In fact, this group member asked my opinion on changing their entire slide an hour before it was time to present. I thought that it was a little odd and very risky, but they said they already had the information typed up and all they had to do was copy it to the PowerPoint. That was not entirely true because fifteen minutes before the presentation, they were typing up the information. I chose to have a positive attitude about the whole thing and help as much as possible.
When we actually presented, it was nerve racking because I did not know what to really expect from everyone. I already hate public speaking as it is. We did speak well overall, but our lack of preparation showed. My favorite part of the presentation was the activity at the end, I was just a little relieved that we goth through the rough part and felt as though our game livened things up. Procrastination was our main issue and next time, I for one will try harder not to do
