Name? Date? Period? Pediatrician There are many reasons I want to study to become a pediatrician. Some of the biggest ones are the fact that I have always had an interest in medicine, and I am the type of person that adores babies and children. Also, watching out for the wellbeing of children is something I’ve always done. I also think that the job in itself would be very rewarding. There are several steps to be taken and to consider before fully committing to this field of work. These include things like: preparation, the time spent in school, the wages, requirements, etc. Insert a thesis statement here about the direction of your paper. After completing a pediatric residency and passing the board and state certifications, the application process will start with things like a background check and an evaluation. Your potential employer will look at your past work history, interview you, and look to see if you are compatible at the clinic/hospital. The interview will most likely include several board members and even a few doctors. Kristy at Mercy Medical Center said that the hiring crew at the hospital really looks to see if the person applying is genuinely interested by the job. They look for staff that love meeting new people, and are “bubbly”. The hospital never wants to hire someone that is just there to make money, they want people who are there to help others heal. William Osler once said, “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.” Osler also said, “It is much more important to know what sort of a patient has a disease than what sort of a disease a patient has.” William Osler was a physician in Canada and one of the four founding fathers of Johns Hopkins Hospital. What I get from his words is that it is important for you to be a good doctor, but it is also important that you can evaluate what kind of person …show more content…
Approximately 10% of all pediatricians are self employment. There are substantial benefits and drawbacks when deciding whether to join a private practice or a hospital. Working in a hospital gives you other people and doctors to rely or fall back on. You will typically have a wide variety of specialists working around and with you, which would be nice if you are needing to refer a patient to someone. Hospitals give a physician a guaranteed salary, while a private practice offers a salary based on the money left over after receipts have been paid. Hospitals will also generally pay a doctor more if the are upping their patient intake. However, working in a private practice gives a person the opportunity to be more “choosy” with the patients they are willing to care for. Hospital workers have a set guideline of rules that it is very important for them to follow, but working in a private practice gives a person the opportunity to set up their own system of guidelines. Owning a private practice would be nice because you would have more pull over who you work with. You would have the say in who is, and isn’t, hired. This could make for a more relaxed working environment with less tension. Being employed at a hospital means that you aren’t going to have a say in who you are working with. There is a chance that you will work with someone whose personality
PA programs are based on the medical curriculum and clinical achievements. The programs are very competitive to get accepted into (What is a PA? para. 4). By your freshman year, you need to find and apply to PA programs you are interested in. Before you start the PA program you need to have some experience. Most programs require you to have clinical experience before starting the program (Kimberly para. 5). You can get clinical experience at physician or doctor offices, ambulatory clinics, or acute and long term facilities. Clinical experience includes family and internal medicin...

There are few jobs in today’s world that are essential to our society and being a nurse is one of them. Diane Marks Nurse Clinician of Pediatric Allergy at the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba granted me the privilege of sitting down to discuss her career . Through this interview I was able to gain perspective on how being a pediatric nurse encompasses more than what is written in the job description. It is more than just needles and antibiotics, but many times it means being a mother, a sister, a friend, a councillor, and many other roles in the patient’s life.
Kids aren’t like adults, their bodies are growing and changing constantly and require specific knowledge to understand. I find it interesting learning about children’s mindsets and how their bodies are different from adults. I have always had a passion for working with kids and anytime that I have gotten an opportunity to be around kids and working with them I take it. I love being able to help kids feel better and to see them develop physically and mentally throughout time. Seeing a kids’ reaction to learning something new or feeling better is a highlight to my day which is why I chose to pursue my career in pediatrics as a pediatric nurse.
Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. Pediatric nurses must endure many different things to make it into this particular work field, and have many different qualities.
After high school people go to college. College is the step where they will figure out their life-long job. I’ve always have wanted to go into the medical field, but didn’t know what I wanted to do in it. I decided I would like to to be a pediatric oncologist. A pediatric oncologist is a physician that specializes in pediatrics. Pediatric oncologists receive further training in medical oncology. Pediatric oncologists help kids who are fighting cancer.
I have always wanted to work in the medical field since I was a child. Around four, I told my pediatrician during a well- check visit that I wanted to grow up and be just like her. My love of infants and children strongly influenced my career choice because I want to have the ability to help sick children who do not have the ability to help themselves. I have considered many options to enter the healthcare field from nurse, to doctor, and finally came to the conclusion that what I truly wanted out of my future resided in a career as a Physician Assistant. Becoming a PA is not something that I have considered lightly. I did not decide I wanted to become a PA for the convenience factors of tuition, family, or the amount of schooling. I decided
What is a pediatrician? Pediatricians are doctors who specialize and focus in caring for babies to young adults (Career Cruising). They deal with childhood diseases and the care of infants with health and sickness (Elberts). The typical upper age limit of patients is from age twelve to age twenty-one (NetMed Pediatrics). They have to treat their patients as if he or she were going to change the world. Pediatricians complete many tasks in a day’s time. They perform physical exams and order tests that will diagnose diseases and injuries that have occurred. They advise surgery and medications and may also help patients through puberty and family problems (Career Cruising). It is their responsibility to make sure the patients are not only healthy, but also safe and happy. Some pediatricians communicate with social workers, family members, and health care workers to understand the entire situation as best as they can (Career Cruising). If the patient seems to have more personal problems, pediatricians have the opportunity to send them to other doctors like a psychiatrist for treatment. Others work as advocates by educating the community about car safety and the benefits from school breakfast (Career Cruising).
I have known from an early age that I’ve wanted to become a doctor. Helping people has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian. However, after working with young children I have found that I love working with them, and have a connection with children. Currently, I am interested in becoming either a neonatologist or a general pediatrician so I can continue to work with young children.
My goal in pediatrics revolves around determination to provide comprehensive and compassionate care. I want to be a part of pediatric residency program that offers the opportunity to train in a well-structured, well-administered with family like environment, where teachers love to instruct and direct us through their vast amount of knowledge. I know your pediatrics program would be a good fit for my passions and talents. I am confident that my pursuit of this career path is an invitation to an even fuller and more exciting life ahead.
Another good aspect of this job is that they only focus on the health of children, rather than all of the age groups. An adult and a child are so different, they are nearly two different species. If a child is brought to a doctor who specializes in all age groups, the child would not be getting the same kind of attention that he or she would be getting, compared to that from a doctor who specializes only in children. Doctors that specialize in all age groups are used to make quick, rough, and fundamental actions needed for the healing of the patient. One does not simply treat a child the same way an adult would be treated.
In order to achieve their dream job as a pediatrician, individuals studying to become a practitioner of pediatrics must first endure a grueling amount of requirements designed to test their ability and shape the student to
When the interviewee told me this, I was a bit surprised. I figured that the hospital workers pulled up the patient’s file or had it faxed over from their office. I did not even think about the fact that the general pediatrician, who sees the patient more, therefore, knowing their medical background better, would be called in to see the
