Pediatric Nurse The nurse is one of the most important of the health team in caring for children. My aunt is going through everything to be a nurse and is almost there to graduate. I saw her love for nursing and everything shes been going through and her love of helping people. It changed my idea of going somewhere in life and choosing what she chose. Becoming a Nurse has been a goal of mine for several years because i love helping people. The history of Pediatric Nurse Pediatric nursing did not develop in the United States until the nineteenth century. Most children were delivered with the help of midwives and cared for by their families, using folk medicine. Only the wealthy were attended by physicians, who were limited in what they could actually do for their patients. (mary) The educational/high school requirements In order to be a pediatric nursing, you must become registered nurse (RN). An Rn education can be achieved in a few ways through hospitals or college, the coursework may be slightly different. Hospitals offer nursing diploma programs which may take two-three years to complete. Anatomy, physiology, and child physiology our the courses you will have to take. Aspiring pediatric nurses may also complete a two year Associate Degree in nursing (ADN) or a four year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Nursing ethics, health assessments, patient management our the courses you will have to take. All working nurses must be licensed and registered. Aspiring pediatric nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN exam. (erin) Some students volunteer at local hospitals or clinics to gain more experience in the health professions. Business ability, self-discipline and the ability to deal with patients are important for success.
