Below I have made a 5-day meal plan for a group of three-year-old children, I have made sure to include the foods and meals that fall into the CACFP meal patterns (U. S. Department of Agriculture. n.d.). During making this meal plan I had to keep in mind that three-year-old children have a better chance of choking on a food that is bigger than a pea. I made sure I added that there needed to be deiced fruit and soft, appealing foods. Also, being conscious of food allergies that may be present in this group of children. Being mindful of these allergies meant not including peanuts, shellfish, wheat and having dairy free and egg free options for those allergic and those who are vegan. Although a menu is important in a childcare setting it is also
important to follow important safety precautions when serving and handling the children’s food. On page 457 of Health, Safety and Nutrition for the Young Child (Marotz, 2012) it states “The safety of foods and meals prepared for young children is of equal importance to their nutritional value. Food-borne illness is a major public health concern that poses an especially dangerous risk, including death, for young children (Maki, 2009).” To prevent these illnesses, it is important to always keep our hands washed, inspect all raw food for spoilage when it is delivered and before use. Wash all meats, vegetables, and fruits before use, as they may carry bacteria that can cause illness to children and employees if ingested. It is also important for the safety of the children to avoid cross-contamination of foods that could be an allergen to other children. This can be done by not using the same utensils to serve food, or just not carry those allergen foods in your center, for example instead of peanut butter on my menu you will see I substituted wow butter, I also chose to use all gluten-free bread and grains.
After completing my three-day diet analysis, my overall report on food groups and calories showed that I have consumed ½ oz of whole grains, I cup of starchy vegetables, ¼ cup of fruit juice, 5oz of seafood, 2 ½ oz of meat, poultry, and eggs, 287 calories of empty calories, 147 calories of solid fats and 140 calories of add sugars. I noticed that I did not consume the right amount of fruits and vegetables, 0 cups of dairy, and consumed too much empty calories. To make my results appear better, I need to modify my results on how much food I consumed, list the food I have consumed, and list the functions of the nutrient rich food I consumed and what I need to consumed.
In the original three day diet analysis, Susanne Coleman found that she was not eating from all of the food groups recommended by the food pyramid. Particularly, she was not eating the amount of fruits, vegetables and grains recommended. While she felt she made wise food decisions, there was room for improvement. When completing another three day diet analysis, Susanne received different results. After completing the original three day diet analysis, Susanne has been more conscientious of her food choices. Since the first analysis, Susanne has begun to plan meals ahead and to pack her meals for the day to stay on track.
My goal is to consume 1500 calories per day. According to the Super Tracker website, for breakfast I should have 1 ounce of grains, ½ cup of fruit and ½ cup of dairy. I will be able to have a midmorning snack that can include 1 ounce of grains and ½ of fruit. For lunch, I can have 1 ounce of grains, ½ cup of vegetables, ½ cup of fruits, and 2 ½ ounce of protein foods. This meal plans also allows me to have an Afternoon snack, that can include ½ cup of vegetables and ½ cup of dairy. Finally for dinner, I can consume 2 ounces of grains, 1 cup of vegetables, and 1 cup of dairy, and 2 ½ ounces of protein food.
I have learned a lot from this two-day diet analysis assignment. In my two day assessment, I recorded my food intake, quantities, drinks, snacks, condiments, where and who I was with during the meal, the time of day, and the amount of time I spent eating. I was able to analyze my diet to examine what I was eating and what types of nutrients I was getting. I then compared all aspects with my recommended levels of nutrients for my dietary recommended intake. I learned that my eating habits are not the best and could lead to serious health problems in the future that may be detrimental.
The question comes up again; “How is your diet?” Jessica revisited her diet analysis from the first week of class. She noticed that some things have changed and some things, unfortunately, have not changed. She knew that some things would not change because of the hectic and busy semester and summer she had ahead of her but the things that did change surprised her. This class did some good for her, but she still needs some work on her diet and nutrition.
Nutrition, I have learned plays a big part in our life. To be honest I was clueless about how much nutrition affected our everyday lives. I love going to the gym working out, now that I know what should go into my diet I think I will see a lot more improvement. I occasionally follow the latest diet fads because I believed it would be better for my health, but in turn it really hurt more than it helped! This Diet Analysis project has been extremely useful course because I can personally relate to it and can use much of the information learned to my daily routines. The Diet Analysis project was a real eye opener because it let me see what exactly I was putting into my diet.
To be healthy you must have four unsettles ingredients. These four things are eating healthy and the right amount, exercising regularly, sleeping well, and getting the right nutritious vitamins. A child two to eight years old need the same four unsettles to be healthy. The only difference is that they need a different amount of each that an adult. They must eat the recommended intake in each food group corresponding with their age and sex stated in the Canada’s food guide. They must also get daily excurses, with lots of sleep. The National sleep foundation recommends that children one to five years old should get 11 to 14 hours of sleep each night (National sleep foundation, n.d.) They must also get the right nutritious vitamins to help them grow. A good way to achieve this is with a child baste motley vitamin. I will be inspecting the intake of food a child in daycare consumes each day to see if them meet the recommendations set by The Canada food guide. Studying their strengths and weaknesses and how thy can be improved.

I sustain that belief for a few reasons. For starters, I like the food plan because it is different every day. One day the children can eat peaches with their lunch, but another day they may have green beans. On Tuesday the children have cookies for a snack, but the following day, they have wafers. Secondly, each lunch offers a fruit and a vegetable with some type of protein and grain. In class we discussed a theme called, “my plate”. According to the discussion in class, and www.choosemyplate.gov, the daycare is following the “my plate” guidelines. Lastly, I feel the menu is easily balanced and nutritious because the children get water or milk with every snack and meal. On this one website, it states, “milk is an excellent source of calcium and other essential nutrients” (https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/milk). That statement convinces me that the children are drinking healthy drinks every day. I one hundred percent feel that “Don’t Worry Childcare” offers a nutritious, well balanced
Money—in the form of gold bars or paper faces, currency has been a system used in almost every modern society to regulate exchange and to represent wealth. While it is an effective bureaucratic system, money creates inevitable social divides. In the vein of philosopher and sociologist Karl Marx in his famous work, The Communist Manifesto, the haves and have-nots are in a constant struggle between oppressor and oppressed. The Dinner, a novel by Herman Koch, chronicles a brief encounter between the narrator and main character, Paul, Claire, Serge, and Babette, his wife, brother, and his sister-in-law, respectively. his wife, his brother, Serge, and his sister-in-law, Babette. The four must meet to discuss the fate of their children after they
The 7-days nutritional meal plan project was very helpful. It helped me to stay focus, and it kept me on track with maintaining a healthy nutritional intake. The majority of my meals were a little over the average for the protein intake. The vegetables, fruits, and grains were within normal limits. The fat intake was very low, which is a good thing, but my sodium intake was higher than the recommended allowance on most days. I tried to stick to the recommended allowance for the four food groups. I also sought to minimize the fat and sodium intake. I went over my budget by one cent. The total cost for seven days were $42.01. The cost per day ranged from $4.22 to $4.69.
A child’s proper growth depends greatly on their nutrition and health. A healthy diet is essential to the developing child. Food should never be used to reward, punish, or bribe a child. Instead children should have three healthy meals with snacks in between. It is also important for children to have good self care behaviors (including bathing, washing hands, brushing teeth), and adequate sleep.
I believe that parents, caregivers, or anyone that has contact with a toddler should know about what nutrition they need and why local produce is better for the toddler. I choose toddler’s nutrition because in psychology class, we are studying their development, so something as simple as what fruits and vegetables they eat can affect all points throughout the toddler’s life. In addition, my sister is pregnant so as the aunt of the child, I feel I have the responsibility in helping my younger sister and teaching her nutrition for her baby. After researching, I know that feeding local produce to my niece or nephew when they become toddlers is vital and can, enhance their development. So let’s learn about toddle...
many children take for granted the fact that they eat three meals a day, while
I recorded my food intake for two seperate days during the week. I kept track of my food intake for Wednesday the 21st of March along with that Saturday, the 24th of March. There were a couple differences when comparing the two days after recording them and looking at my Meal Summary. I ate a variety of foods both days when looking through my Meal Summary. I ate plenty of protein and grains during those two days along with fruits. When looking at both Wednesday and Saturday I noticed that I ate more on a weekday rather than on a weekend day. I came to the conclusion that it is because I am much more busy during the week verse the weekend.
