The purpose of us using the Solid works Program was to design parts such as a propeller for an underwater vehicle. Starting off by making parts such as a wrench helped build the fundamental skills we needed in order to design the propeller. Before actually following through with the steps, our group had to do research on how propellers work and the different of propellers. At the end of this project we will have a fully functional propeller for an underwater vehicle. Procedures
The Modeling of Salt Water Intrusion What is Salt Water Intrusion? Salt water intrusion, or encroachment, is defined by Freeze and Cherry (1979) as the migration of salt water into fresh water aquifers under the influence of groundwater development. Salt water intrusion becomes a problem in coastal areas where fresh water aquifers are hydraulically connected with seawater. When large amounts of fresh water are withdrawn from these aquifers, hydraulic gradients encourage the flow of seawater
The term ‘investment’ refers to ceramic materials used to build hollow shells where the molten metal is to be poured to make a casting. The process was given the name ‘investment’ because of the solid mould process that involves a plaster type material that is poured or ‘invested’ into a container that holds small plastic patterns which happens to be a replica of the casting being produced. After the plaster type material sets, the pattern will be burnt out leaving a hollow cavity where the metal
Object-Oriented Database Management Systems started in the middle 80's, at a prototype building level, and at the beginning of the 90's the first commercial systems appeared. The interest for the development of such systems stems from the need to cover the modeling deficiencies of their predecessors, that is the relational database management systems. They were intended to be used by applications that have to handle big and complex data such as Computer Aided Engineering, Computer Aided Design, and Office Information
was published in Communications of the ACM. This paper introduced the topic of data normalization, so-named because, at the time, President Nixon was normalizing relations with China. Data normalization is a technique used during logical data modeling to ensure that there is only one way to know a fact, by removing all structures that provide more than one way to know the same fact as represented in a database relation (table). The goal of normalization is to control and eliminate redundancy,
subject at hand. UML is the industry acronym for the Universal Modeling Language. The Universal Modeling Language is used for software, business, hardware and organizational object structuring. In 1997, with the help of three men and their teams, UML was created and adopted as an industry standard by the Object Management Group (OMG). The Universal Modeling Language is a collaboration of many different people and numerous modeling approaches put together as one unified standard for the purpose of
Measurement of Density Purpose: To gain an understanding of the physical property of density. To gain skill in measurement of mass and volume, in addition to the construction of graphs and the physical interpretation of slope. Procedure: Part 1 Regular solids 1. Use the metric ruler to determine the length, width, and height of aluminum and iron cubes to the nearest 0.5cm. 2. Use the balance to measure the mass of each item listed above to the nearest 0.1g. Part 2 Water Displacement 1. Obtain a 50.0mL
to avoid foaming-over during fermentation. After all of the must has been poured into the fermentors and the sulfur dioxide has been added, the fermentors should be covered with cheesecloth or plastic to keep out insects. Temperature, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, and the free and total SO2 of the must in each fermentor should be determined and the results recorded. Adding sulfur dioxide Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a chemical compound that has been used in winemaking for more than a century
fabrics available were mostly natural fibers like cotton, silk, linen, and wool. Daywear was most often in shades of white, brown, and black, commonly in a small figured or floral print. Eveningwear consisted of lightweight silks in sometimes brighter solids or light-colored hazy prints. In this particular period, fancy trim meant status. Trim was very excessive as possible on shoulders, waist, and the lower half of the skirt. Items used included were lace, embroidery, jet beading, flowers, ribbon, and
whole. There are four distinct states of matter: solids, liquids, gases, and plasma. There are other states of matter such as Bose-Einstein condesates and neutron degenerate matter, but those states can only be found under extreme conditions. These phases can go from one to another when affected by certain things, which is known as phase changes. To switch from a solid to a liquid, the solid must melt. On the other hand, to switch from a liquid to a solid, freezing must occur. Furthermore, to switch
1.0 Intro:¬¬¬ • Ceramics Engineering is a technology for manufacturing products from inorganic, non-metallic materials and the use of ceramic or ceramic materials. • This is done by heat or at lower temperatures using sedimentation processes of high purity chemical solvents. • Many engineering applications benefit from the characteristics of ceramics as a material. • The special properties of ceramic materials make it suitable for many applications in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering
point is. A freezing point is defined as a temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid. A melting is the opposite of the freezing point. It is defined as a temperature at which a solid, turns into a liquid. That in order to freeze pure water, the water must reach a temperature of less then 0˚Celsius. They also must have knowledge that in order to change pure water (in the solid form) to a liquid, that solid must reach a temperature above 0˚Celsius.
A drone’s frame is its skeleton. Not only does its rigid structure support all the other components of RubiQ’s body, but it also defines how she measures up in the emerging world of drone classification. From insect-sized nano drones that slide snugly inside a shirt pocket to stealth combat drones operated by the military, not all drones all created equal. Because the field of drones is continually expanding, an official class system has yet to emerge — except when it comes to racing. In the world

salt affects the freezing point of ice cream. Background Information Water is made of water and hydrogen molecules, when bonded, they form a crystalline structure called ice (worldofchemicals.com). During the change of water from a liquid to a solid, water molecules move slow so they can’t leave the intermolecular attraction between water molecules. Ion-dipole forces occur between water molecules and a sodium ion. The slightly negative charge of oxygen in water is attracted to the positive charge
"Is the glass half full, or is it half empty?" My fourth-year grade school teacher presented this question one day in class. I remember sitting more towards the rear of the room; I was the problem child. There was a book, Alicen Jones's book actually, and in that book was a picture of a glass of milk. My teacher Ms.Corson was ecstatic to share this page with these developing minds. Is the glass half empty, or is it half full? The class shouted their answers. A majority agreed that the glass was half
This experiment demonstrated how to purify benzoic acid by means of recrystallization. The original benzoic acid solid sample used contained 5% salicylic acid, an impurity. Benzoic acid is of the following structure: Salicylic is of the following structure: For part 1, after boiling and dissolving benzoic acid in water, we allowed the solution to cool and recrystallize, first at air temperature and then on ice. As the solution cooled at air temperature, the benzoic acid started to recrystallize
chemical explaination involve in the answer of question, which is why ice is slippery. İNTRODUCTİON When we talk about phase transition, probably the first thing which comes to our mind is a visible example of transition of water and ice from liquid to solid. It is obvious that many of us have experienced the slipperiness
make up literacy. In order to effectively teach students these components the teacher must model the concept for the students. As teachers, we can't expect or assume that the student already knows what we expect of them. Modeling gives students a basis of what to go by. Modeling is the first and most important step in order for the students to gain mastery of a concept. A teacher must also undergo guided practice with the students. A teacher should always provide as much guided practice that is needed
The effect is that the freezing point lowers it causing the water more time to turn into a solid. In terms of particles, why are some substances more effective than other in lowering the freezing point? Because some substances have a strong dilute than others and dissolve more in the water. When we assessed our products in the test tube project
