Give Peace a Chance Since the horrible tragedy that occurred on September 11th, Americans are brainstorming for ideas on how to fight terrorism. Minds are collaborating on what can be done to reconcile the West in the minds of Islamic nations. Many strategies for attaining peace have been introduced, and steps are being made toward the appeasement of differences. The ideas for peacemaking that have already been set in motion will be discussed in Section 1, and new suggestions for reconciliation
Fathers every year in Washington go to jail for nothing more than being broke (Deadbeat). They are called “dead beat dads” by their peers, scorn by society, and treated as subclass citizens (THE, ASSOCIATED). This is a very grim reality that men of every age range face daily. Both men and women make the choices which result in babies. However, women are given a choice at every stage of the child’s development to adopt out, abort, or even use contraception (Why). Thus, men and women share equal responsibility

On January 31, 2000 Alaska Airlines Flight 261 was in route from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to Seattle, Washington with a stop planned for San Francisco, California. Things went catastrophically wrong, even with the subtle hints of disaster that could be seen lurking in the shadows from takeoff. All 83 passengers and 5 crewmembers aboard the MD-83 (N963AS) ultimately paid the price for simple oversights. This paper will try to shed light into the underlying circumstances that led up to the uncontrollable
The issue of animal testing has been a hot topic for many years. People who believe it is necessary to use animals in scientific and commercial research most likely argue that the practice has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments and that testing on them is similar to a human therefore results are more accurate. Those who oppose animal testing believe that alternatives are far more efficient and that animal experimentation is not reliable to its results. These people fight animal
Although the Kingdome was starting to fall apart, it was decades away from its useful life ("Walls Come", 2). In fact, in 1994 tiles fell from the ceiling and the cost to fix was 70 million, which was done. It is possible that one could argue that Seattle was in need of a new stadium. To build a stadium and have an estimated price is one thing, but having tons of extras added on that are going to have the cost overrun by 100 million dollars is a little ridiculous. Many other cities are also
Cobain, lead singer of the infamous band Nirvana was discovered outside of his Seattle home three days after his death by Garry Smith on April 8, 1994. While Cobain’s official death certificate reads suicide, many theories have cropped up over the years that claim to explain neglected attributes to the original case. Suicide is the most accepted theory to Kurt Cobain’s death, gaining support from not only the Seattle Police Department but Cobain’s own family at the time of death. Cobain was reported
However, the plans are not cohesive and may not give the Puget Sound the return on their huge investment. Both Houston and Washington D.C. have a few ideas that Seattle could benefit from. In Seattle, most of the Sounder trains are on a separate infrastructure than roads. With the looming expansion though, the Eastside will be getting light rail in addition the south end on some roads. Houston implemented their relatively small
Sports is a powerful force in society today. People of all ages and both sexes watch and participate in different sports in increasing numbers. Equal opportunity to participate in sports seems like a right that is natural and would be a common sense issue, but unfortunately this has not always been the case. In 1972 Congress enacted the Education Amendments of 1972, this contains Title IX which was intended to ensure that discrimination based on sex was eliminated. The area that this has had
Comparison and Contrasting Experience of Drama Everyone has a preference when entertaining one’s self with a drama. Live theatrical performances, video production, and reading novels or poems are a few examples of how an individual may want to expand the mind. Personally, I feel that reading a drama is the best way to experience a story, depending on the author. The mind can produce extraordinary images that a live performance or video productions are limited to. In this essay, I will be discussing
Can People Lie With Statistics? Although numerical presentations have the potential to be useful tools towards assessing complex situations, they can also be misleading. With this in mind, why are people so susceptible to believe statistical information as truth? One plausible theory is that the data contained in such a report agrees with the thoughts and beliefs of the person studying them, meaning a person may tentatively believe what they want to believe. Another possibility is lack of knowledge

captivating. I also wanted to learn more about Ted Bundy and why serial killers are the way they are. This book does exactly that. The novel explores Ann Rule’s friendship with Ted Bundy when they met in 1971 while working for a Crisis Clinic in Seattle, Washington. It travels through the confusing journey of trying to figure out that this charismatic man had a murderous, scandalous double life. Ann Rule is quite an amazing author, and that is especially true for this book. Not only is she already
Police brutality is when a police officer causes serious bodily harm to a civilian. Police brutality is shown by the increasing amounts of Taser deaths each year. A chart created by the Seattle Post Intelligencer shows how during the year two-thousand only one Taser death occurred, but in two-thousand-four that number climbed to a staggering thirty-nine. In Baltimore, Maryland Freddie Grey was found dead while under police supervision. The night
US exceeded 2.5 million, and it peaked at #41 on the Billboard 200. Many of the tracks on the album were written by MC Ren, Ice Cube, and The D.O.C., and it was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella. Jon Wiederhorn of MTV and Glen Boyd of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer both asserted that Eazy-Duz-It was a prerequisite for N.W.A. most divisive album, Straight Outta Compton. A remix of 8 Ball, originally on N.W.A. and the Posse, was the sole solo by Wright on the album. The CD showcased Wright's compositions

Jeff Shaara’s novel, The Glorious Cause, takes the reader through the American Revolution, starting with the signing of “The Declaration of Independence” and going to Charles Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown. It also goes beyond telling a record of a historical event by putting the reader into the minds and situations of many historical figures at the time including: George Washington, Charles Cornwallis, William Howe, Nathan Hale, Nathaniel Green, Marquis de Lafayette, Benjamin Franklin, and several
