The visual style of video game can very on a huge scale. Each game will have a different style including terrain, architecture & objects. These combined will make each game unique. Video games have featured terrain since the earliest 3D games were made. Terrain is the entire landscape of the game this can include Hills, Plains & Mountains. These would all be created to match the visual style of the game. E.g. if you were creating terrain for Skyrim it would be set in the past so the building would look old and broken the terrain will have high mountains and lots of trees. . The terrain would be the Look and feel of the scene/world that the game is based in e.g. time zones, location, areas. There are millions of different terrains that can be used in games from simple blocks to massive high detailed worlds.
The Architecture of the game would focus more on the buildings and structures in your world. These could include buildings, sewers & railways. All these element would build up the terrain to a more advanced level. A FPS game would have a lot of building and structures that you could run through and hide behind where as an open world game would have bigger and more detailed structures allowing the user to understand the story and get a feel of the world. Using Architecture in your game will enhance the overall look of your game and the whole gameplay experience. The design of the architecture must fit in within the game world.
Objects are things/items that are useable in a game or can be interacted with. The objects in your game could be a gun that the player finds on the floor and is able to pick up & interact with-it making it an object.
