College football is one of the most exciting sports organizations in the sporting world. Not only is it thrilling on the field, but also off the field as well. This particular sport organization brings in a ton of money that benefits itself, as well as other sports organizations at the college level. There is a huge demand for success for this organization and if the standard of winning is not there, even for a year, anyone working for that particular school may lose their job. A job I aspire to have is being a college football coach. This job is extremely thrilling as well as displeasing compared to any other job in the organization. The spotlight is not only on the players, but also it is on you as a coach. It is very difficult to keep a job in this organization if as a coach you do not produce a winning record. College football may be the best sports organization to work in and also the worst at the same time.
There are many jobs in college football, however, coaching is the best to choice for me. Being a college football coach has a ton of benefits that you cannot get in another other job in the industry. First of all, there are over 1000 colleges and universities that offer football in the NCAA. This means that there are a ton of job opportunities as a coach in this industry. College football is broken down into 4 divisions and the most talented players go to the schools that are D I-A and less talented fall into place in the other divisions. These divisions are Division I-A FBS, Division I-AA FCS, Division II, and Division II. The aspect of having so many colleges and universities that offer football is that you may coach at a smaller division and not be put under the spotlight that a dominate program in a D I-A set...

...t hesitation, “To go for it. It is such a good feeling to see kids succeed and do things they never thought they could do. It definitely isn't about the money in my case at least. But to see kids succeed is priceless.”
In conclusion, a college football coach has a lot on his plate. A college football coach clearly has a lot of responsibilities that he must perform at a high level or else he may be looking for another job. The job may not be stable at all times, but if you can maintain it and be successful it may be beneficial in the long run. I believe that the job is worth all of the stress and taking a chance after speaking with Brandon Kreczmer. He really opened my eyes to help me realize that a job really isn’t about money and it is about doing something that you love to do. This is why being a college football coach is still my dream job in the sports industry.
The college football world has gone mad. Conferences are doing battle in courtrooms instead of on the football field. Teams are leaving their conferences and throwing tradition and loyalty out the window for a bigger paycheck. The Bowl Championship Series was supposed to end the confusion in the college football post season. It was supposed to crown a true champion. Instead, the B.C.S. has only brought more light to the fact that in college football it is all about money and TV contracts. Teams that have no right going to a major bowl game go because of who they are and, more importantly, who their fans are and how much money the fans are will to spend. Players are failing classes, stealing, doing drugs, breaking almost every law imaginable, and they are still suiting up to play on Saturday. In this new age of college football, there is a man who is as old school as having goal posts right on the goal line. He is short in stature, but he is larger than life. He has given millions of dollars back to his university, and he has put his heart and his soul into molding young me. Joe Paterno has become an icon of college football. In these modern times, however, his morals and his coaching style seem outdated. Now, in the twilight of his career, he has to battle a grueling Big Ten schedule, the media who made him a legend and who are now looking to make him into a fool, and even his once loyal fans who have turned their backs on him. Joe Paterno has his back against the wall; it seems everything is working against him. He could walk away now and forever be remembered as a great football coach, or he can keep running out of that tunnel and work on putting Penn State football back on the map. He can take back the title that is rightfully his, the greatest college football coach of all time. Joe Paterno should remain in charge of the Penn State football program. Along the way, he deserves every Penn State fans support, win or lose.
Coaching any sport is much harder than it seems. There are some jobs that almost anyone with the right education can do. Coaching is definitely not one of those jobs. One can get educated on drawing X's and O's on a paper for decades and still might be far from being a successful coach. Of course knowledge of the sport is very important too but to be successful in a job like coaching, one has to dedicate himself to his job; his job has to be his life. This is the major reason even those who hate Patriots still respect Bill Belichick and agree that he had unique abilities that make him so successful. His exceptional intelligence, his ability to break down and exploit game film, his singular discipline and his almost unmatched work ethic makes him probably the best coach in the NFL today and even one of the best in the history of the NFL.
While college sports play a valuable role on university campuses, it is important for administrators to not lose perspective. That some football coaches earn more than university presidents, for example, is clearly wrong. Essay Task Write a unified, coherent essay in which you evaluate multiple perspectives on college support for sports teams. In your essay, be sure to: • analyze and evaluate the perspectives given • state and develop your own perspective on the issue • explain the relationship between your perspective and those given
From what I witnessed in high school football revolves around the school life and the same in college. He is trying to tell us that school is about education not football. “The core mission of our universities is to educate our students, not to entertain them with big-time sports events.” I was disappointed to see how much money is spent on a college football’s team. He stated that the University of Maryland administration is more interested in building a better football team. I hope that’s not where most of my tuition money is going. We are making our universities known for their football teams instead of education. People go to college to learn not to be entertained every weekend by a football team and if you want to watch football stay at home. I want my school to known for having the best education, not the best football
With the recent controversy and scandal surrounding the University of Colorado and the college football world, this off season has been one of the busiest ever. College Football has experienced an eye-opening revelation and these experiences call for major changes in the traditional recruiting practices. Last month, stories surfaced about the University of Colorado using sex, alcohol, and parties to lure blue chip recruits to their program. While these types of actions are prevalent at every major football program, this is the first time that they have been officially exposed. This exposure has started a chain-reaction of changes to the recruiting part of college football and has grabbed the attention of the United States Congress. The involvement of the most powerful government in the world shows the seriousness of the present situation and also that these inappropriate recruiting practices are not going to be ignored any longer. The face of college football will change dramatically and the results of this scandal will have a lasting impact for decades to come. For any person who follows college football and has a favorite team, this is an important issue because the traditional way that many of us have come to love, is about to disappear.
The diversity issue within America’s most popular game is apparent. Both the NFL and FBS are at an all time high in terms of revenue and viewership while the opportunity for minorities to coach at these levels has become a significant issue especially in collegiate football. Lack of proper awareness and prejudice beliefs are the core of the problem. The NFL has taken many steps to help improve the issue, while college football is beginning to realize the problem they have in hiring procedures. Many people believe the sports are turning a corner, others continue to believe they are far from resolving the issue. Whatever notion one takes in this matter it is clear that both sports suffer from a major lack in diversity when it comes to the face of their franchises and programs.
Which makes time also very limited during the day for student athletes to get a real job to pay for the extra expenses that they need. Also, most of the time coaches will not allow the student athletes to work, because of their conflicting schedules with practice. A football prodigy will choose a school best fit for him regardless if he gets a bigger bid. For example, if the football prodigy had a choice to go to a school where they had a better business program because he wanted a backup plan incase he did not get drafted or there was something unfortunate to end his football career, he would choose a school instead of a school that presented a bigger amount but did not have as a business program as the other school.
The three biggest coaching jobs include: head coach, defensive, and offensive coordinators. There is no saying how many coaches would be on a team for either NFL or college, while having such a large team, a big staff to help develop these players, at any level, is important. In the NFL, typically, they head coach is not the one calling the plays for the offense or defense; they let their coordinators make those decisions. Whereas, at the collegiate level the head coach is also either the defensive or offensive coordinator. In either position both head coaches are the ones who lead practices and the ones who make the big decisions in the games; they also are the ones accredited for the wins, and unfortunately the loses. Although the coaches aren’t the ones making the plays, they are still absolutely vital for a team to be able to compete at a high
Fans have such a love for college football, completely different from NFL but paying athletes just like professional ones would change that different environment for both players and fans completely. Fans love the idea that they are watching these young men play with passion and love for the game. University alumni like to see these players have the same loyalty to the schools that they had when they attended. It resembles a big family, which is so different than a professional team that is technically playing simply for money for the organizations. Collegiate sports is not a career or profession. It is the students' vehicle to a higher education degree (Mitchell). Like many say, “you play for the name on the front, not the back.” It is a common argument that that professio...
Playing a sport in college is equivalent to working a full-time job (Thomas). There are rules that allow major-college football coaches to only demand twenty hours of the players time each week (Wieberg). However, studies show that those athletes are doubling those hours per week during the season (Wieberg). Other sports are putting in the equivalent of a full time work week (Wieberg). Some NCAA officials are concerned with the amount of time spent stating that beyond forty hours is inhumane (Wieberg). Most of the athletes compete and do whatever it takes to succeed, so they enjoy spending countless hours on sports (Wieberg). Many athletes even have struggles in the classroom because they do not have enough time to study. Student-athletes at top Division I schools think of themselves as athletes more than students (Wieberg). Less than one percent of college athletes actually make it professionally (Wieberg). That means these kids should focus more on their education than on athletics. In reality, these official...
My love for baseball will always be something that I carry with me for the rest of my life and I think that being happy with my career choice is more important than an annual salary or lengthy requirements that go along with becoming a coach. I hope that one day I can coach and teach children at the high school level and be a person that they look up to with respect. I want to set examples of leadership and show younger people and children how to have positive and courageous qualities just as I will hope to have as I work towards my dreams of being a coach. Baseball may just be one diamond, four plates, nine players, a sweaty uniform, cleats, a bat, and a ball to you, but to me it’s a lifestyle and career choice that I want to live and work towards for the rest of my years to
Emil Zatopek once said “An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head.” This quote applies to every college athlete. The quote means that an athlete may not be getting paid in college, but if they put in the hard work and dedication they can make it to the big leagues. College football is the second most watched sport in America. And the athletes playing the game do not even get paid a penny to play the game. In the sports world. this has been talked about for an extremely long time. College athletes put their body on the line for injury. They put their grades in on the line because of the hours they put on the court, or field (Keolanui). They also sell their apparel at the game and at stores and they get no money at all (Keolanui).
As a coach you do fail sometimes and that's what is difficult but Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeeded.” I believe that this goes for coaching as well because you are going to fail over and over again and you will soon see that those failures are actually your accomplishments. No one said life was easy but coaching can be easy and it’s a way to connect with players and others and bring out the best in people and show that people can work together and accomplish many things no matter how difficult or hard it is and it can be fun and thrilling at the same
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching.
