Video games are bad. Because when somebody plays and gets off it makes them in a bad mood. But video games are good to kill time. And video games are getting more better and they are getting better graphics. And it looks better like if you were there.
...ple, how addicting they can be, but overall they have more positives than negatives. Video games train people, control violence and anger, and improve brain functioning ability, which by far outweighs any negative arguments against video games.
Studies show that video games can in fact, be beneficial to you. Many times when you hear people talk about video games, it is usually talking about how they ruin people’s minds. While there is little evidence to back up those claims, on the other hand, there is also evidence defending it. Video games can have many social, educational, and/or cognitive benefits.
Video games. They provide an escape from reality to explore worlds and realms beyond our own. However there is a lot of controversy surrounding wether or not video games are good for you, many people are under the impression that video games turn kids and adults alike into mindless zombies hellbent on violence but in this essay I aim to convince you that not only is this untrue but that video games are actually beneficial. I’d also like to mention that too much of anything is bad for your health, for example extremely high quantities of broccoli can be toxic.
center with the pool tables and a line of arcades in front of me. At least nine to twelve players are gathered around 2 gaming arcade machines in front of me. The two main popular ones that are of interest would be the Street Fighter 3rd Strike and the Marvel vs Capcom 2 machines. The gamers are heavily immerse in watching the players and cheering them on. I am observing four players playing on two separate machines. The two players who are on MVC2 are wearing both hooded jackets and baggy jeans with tennis shoes. It seems they were here for quite a while. Backpacks are off to the side of the machines or lying around randomly near them on the ground and some half eaten snacks can be seen on the tables nearby. A quick glance around allowed me to take in the surroundings. There are three pool table games in session occupied by two to four players per table. Three girls are having a drink to the table directly adjacent from my stool across the room. My location is near enough from the arcade machines to allow me to easily view the players and note all of what is going on and far enough to remain hidden and unsuspected of recording the scene. I am recording with my Nokia N95 with Carl Zeiss optics 5 mega pixel lens with creative sounds voice amp. I am wearing a zip up hooded jacket and some baggy cargo pants with a pair of vans allowing me to easily blend in as a normal spectator. Soon after, there are at least six to seven guys spectators for the four players. And also noted at ten minute intervals, the losers rotates out with one of the players lining up to be the new challenger of the victorious. The guys seem to be much louder and animate on the MVC2 ...
Snider, Mike. “ Video Games Actually can be Good for You.” USA Today. 27 Sep. 2005. Web.
Video games have been intensely speculated and observed since the day were released, and continues to be studied. Gaming has become very popular in the last decade, and its very common for someone to own some sort of entertainment system. Video games are open to all ages but attracts a great deal of the younger crowd. As any parent would, they want to make sure that their child is safe. Unfortunately, the stereotypes surrounding the gaming community, have given video games a poor reputation. People have come to believe that video games are a waste of time that lead to violent behavior, psychological damage, and social sheltering. The key to this is moderation, anything in excess can be detrimental and it’s important to keep that in mind. That being said, I intend to enlighten my target audience, parents, that such stereotypes are far from the truth
Whether they be first-person shooters like Call of Duty, sports games like Madden or Fifa, racing games like Forza or Mariokart, or even games and apps on your phones, there are quite a bit of gamers in here. According to the Entertainment Software Association, about 59% of American play some sort of video game, so gaming isn’t all that uncommon (Entertainment Software Association, 2014). As such, there must be some sort of effect on the audience of this growing form of entertainment.
On a more personal note, I think that the misconceptions about gaming have become so solid because they have been passed down through the generations with only a fraction that is taking time to refute them. I believe that gaming is a very effective and ideal way to release stress that we feel as we go on with our lives every day. Even playing a vintage game like Mario can sometimes soothe the stress for me because I often get stressed about the things I am unfamiliar with. In addition, life is filled with challenges no matter what profession or age group someone belongs to. Every school test is a new challenge for me, and gaming can give one that sense of success; the confidence needed to complete that task. It also gives one the ability to be whoever they wish to and not suffer the consequences of it in real life. It is sort of a simulation of the dreams we see. For instance, if I wanted to be a pilot in real life, I could play flight simulation games to boost my confidence and see myself becoming one. This may sound like a long-shot to some, but that I-can-achieve-anything moment can be triggered by the smallest of
Since the Early 70’s video games have been giving a bad name. Parents state that video games rot the minds of children and are influencing them do be violent. These accusations are far from the truth. In my research I found that there are many positive effects of gaming. Some of these effects are increased skills, creativity, general knowledge, and also help those in need. Parents can also take proper precautions and look into a game before buying it to see if it meets the criteria discussed in this paper.
Nowadays, video games are frequently accused of having detrimental effects on children and adolescents. The main arguments against video games are that they lead to addiction, that they provoke violence, and that they impair social development. Whether or not such claims are true has not been determined with certainty as scientific studies have produced contradictory results. Nevertheless, video games also have beneficial effects, which tend to be underrated, as they do not receive the same level of media coverage that adverse ones do, and are thus unknown to the general public. Some of the positive effects of playing video games on mental development include: stimulating analytical thinking, improving concentration, and encouraging planning and anticipation (“Video game controversies”).
"Video game play may provide learning, health, social benefits." American Psychological Association. February 2014, Vol 45, No. 2
Video game have been claimed as addictive, a waste of time, and a distraction. While this does apply to some people, others have found the benefits to playing video games. These benefits include simulating working environments, helping people escape working environments, and giving great experiences. Although these benefits seems to be beneficial, it still stands that video games are a waste of time in which other things can be more productive.
One way in which video games can be beneficial is by supporting individuals’ intellectual development in the areas of problem solving and logic. Games like Cut the Rope, Angry Birds and The Incredible Machine require players to solve a puzzle under time limited conditions. When people are playing these games, they practice their critical thinking skills and creativity, which are both important components of intelligence.
Many people believe that too much time spent watching television or playing computer or video games can be detrimental to children’s development. However, video games can also be beneficial. Gaming, in moderation, helps improve cognitive skills, such as attention, vision, and multitasking.
