Reflective report about work experience internship
As studying in one of the biggest entrepreneurial capital in Europe, I also wanted to experience the diverse, energetic atmosphere of the startup ventures in Amsterdam, therefore, I attended the Uprise Startup Festival in 2015. At the event, I had the chance to meet and network with a lot of talented entrepreneurs, so thanks to the great connections, which I have gained, I got a work internship opportunity at one of the exhibitor venture.
I have conducted my internship at a startup company, THINKFIRM, which contains several sub-companies and projects. As a marketing intern, I was assigned to the venture called Heppee (heppee.nl) which is an application all about children and its aim is to smoothen the communication and arrangement between the divorced parents. Besides my tasks at Heppee, I have also participated in the in-house project of “Bammboo Growth”

The holacracy is a new way of running a company that distributes the power from the conventional management hierarchy and divides it into clear themes related roles e.g. Marketing, Operations, Product Development, etc.. In the holacracy style the employees have multiple roles on different teams which give greater freedom to express their creative ideas and use their diverse skills to the advantage of the company. The roles are not tied strongly to people, therefore, the employees can pick up new roles and hand-off some easily. So the employees have a freedom to take responsibility for a role in which they are the most motivated and able to energize the work. At the weekly meetings- called “Governance meetings” the people can apply for leading and coordinating the activities of the circle and voted by the members in a democratic
As a human services professional, there are many skills that you must already have and that you must obtain as you grow in your career. According to nationalhumanservices.org human services is a very unique feild to work in. They defined this position as the, “objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems, and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life of service populations” . In other words, preventing conflicts and improving the lives of many different individuals using knowledge.
These results are promised of holacracy as a result of the fact that it differs greatly from the traditional hierarchy organizational structure. De Kamp explains that, “in Holacracy the organizational structure consists of a holarchy of self-organizing teams, called ‘circles’. This holarchy of circles emerges in the process and evolves over time. Hereby Holacracy aspires to result in a natural hierarchy focused on work instead of individuals” (pg.16). By implementing this structure of “circles”, an organization distributes leadership throughout the entire organization instead of leaving it in the hands of just a few individuals. This allows employees to be in touch with the changing environment, thereby allowing them to sense opportunities, or “tensions”, to improve the organization as a whole (pg.17). With Holacracy, job titles are not assigned to employees or management because they are often status related and don’t describe the actual work the individual does. Instead, individuals are given roles that “have a specific purpose and include real responsibility and authority… allowing everyone to become a leader of their roles and a follower of others” (de Kamp pg.17). This takes office politics out of play and allows employees to better fulfill their roles in their circle as
My reflection report will be on how to teach a clinical skill, which could be done either by the simulation training “workshops” or in hospital settings. Any reflection report is basically an evaluation of a person’s records of certain findings about certain topic or experience
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a Civil Engineer.
In general, I consider my greatest strength in the case study tutorials to be a confidence and willingness to contribute, which is certainly something I have struggled with in the past (during A levels, etc.). Having gained experience in group work and in leading a group project in my foundation year at Keele, I now find it far easier to speak up in these situations. I consider myself to generally be a very quiet person, so it has taken a lot of development to get to the point where I am able to speak out loudly and clearly. I am pleased with what I have achieved in this regard.
To begin, the focus should be on the benefits of students who have the ability to deliver a unique outlook and perhaps improved or enhanced business ideas. Especially with today’s modern technology, interns are able to bring ideas that may help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of company practices through the use of t...
Throughout my internship, I was well trained and did receive a fruitful experience. The real working environment prepared me for future employment after my graduation. However, I did encounter some problems, which I gradually managed to deal with. Whatever happens, productivity increases by keeping a positive attitude.
MY RESPONSE: A job analysis should include in every human resource function, because it supports the business strategy, analyzes employees’ performance, and broadcasts the future developments. This practice helps to identify the needs for specific skills, and it's a useful tool for hiring, promotion, and training. For instance, when performing an assessment, you are looking not only for a job performance, you can identify a specific behavior or areas of possible improvements. The job assessment helps to identify additional needs for enhancement or correction. There is a correlation between managers and employees, and collected data will help to determine the internal environment and how good the relationship is. For example, during training,
temper their need for public acclaim and financial reward with strong intrinsic motivations” (George, Sims, McLean, & Mayer, 2007).
Everyone has a different view on how they learn and learning itself. First starting in EXP 105, my understanding of learning was new knowledge and becoming wiser. Taking EXP 105 has truly increased my knowledge of what learning is and the process of it. The most important thing I have learned about learning is that you observe the world around you, make sure it is understandable, and figure out the right way to respond. Learning also provides critical thinking skills. Everyone have different ways of learning and those ways are based on four different learning patterns. The four different types of learning patterns are Sequence, Precision, Technical Reasoning, and Confluence. Learning patterns are very helpful when it comes to everyday life, school work, and your job. Knowing your learning patterns and which ones you should use make
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
... The opportunity I had working for this company gave the initiative to interact with such innovative individuals has been an inspiration, and provided me a first-hand account of a business runs.
Throughout this term, my fellow classmates and I have had a chance to participate in a group project with two or three of our peers. The general topic was a vivid problem in a industry. Our class had a very wide and diverse sets of topics: from Styrofoam, to industrial hacking, to corruption in an influential international organization like FIFA, and so many more. Our group decided to develop a project named “Outsourcing and the price we pay for brands”. The name itselves is somewhat self-explanatory, however the problem is so much more complicated and interesting. In this paper, many struggles and concerns, of the group and of my my own, will be unfolded as I reflect the progress of this project.
This internship has provided an ability to match the experiences and knowledge in a more practical way compared to other business students. No amount of gratitude can truly exemplify the overall satisfaction obtained throughout the duration of this internship. Much appreciation goes to all the HR professionals working at UTEP; they provided an enriching learning environment and set of skills that are needed in order to be successful in a HR profession
