Do you think that cell phones are good for you? Guess what, they ARE really good for teaching kids, BUT, there is another side of cell phones. Many schools are still struggling with whether they should have cell phones or not. You have no idea what cell phone is “after you”. Since cell phones are bad for kids’ health, cell phones can make kids lose their trust and it can be a distraction, so, I think that cell phones should be banned from school. The first reason I think cell phones should be banned from school is because kids are using too much technology and it is bad for kids’ health. An example is in the article “5 ways cell phones harm your health”. It says “It’s not really something we think about, but a recent study noted cell phones …show more content…
Another example is “ a study released in January 2010 by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that total media exposure per day for young people ages 13-18 increased from 7 hours and 29 minutes in 1999 to 10 hours and 45 minutes in 2009.” this shows me that kids are having more screen time as the year grew. I think that if kids are having too much screen time, it will be bad for their own health. Kids won’t sleep well, which will make them tired the next morning, they are going to sleep longer and be late for school and they won’t pay any attention to what they are supposed to learn. It increased about 3 hours in 10 years! Just think, it was only 2009, who knows the average screen time is for now? Some people or teacher will think that kids are really using it as a teaching tool, …show more content…
For example in this article “Schools seek balance for cell phones in class”, it states “The texting, tweeting, and Snapchatting during class time are ‘an incredible distraction, and makes it much more difficult to teach,” she (Miriam Morgenstern)said. “It’s pretty hard to compete with a very funny YouTube video.’” this shows me that the internet is way “stronger” than the teacher. Miriam Morgenstern even said that it is pretty hard to compete with technology. This makes me think that almost all the kids would watch a funny YouTube video rather that listening to the teacher teaching. Why would they do that? Is it because the teacher is teaching really boring? Even though, they can get in big trouble for that. Another example is “Not just in the hallway during the five minutes between classes, but also in the classroom, at every opportunity the teacher gives them.” This quote shows me that when the teacher lets them have them out during recess time, they still tried to find every single opportunity that they can to “play” their cell phones. In addition, “ but as pertains to cell phone in the classroom, parents are simply added to their growing list of distractions.” this makes me think maybe some of the parents are also for against having cell phones at school, because they may be thinking that it is also a distraction for kids and is showing disrespectful to the teachers when
Cell phones, they are used everywhere. But should they be used in schools? There are many opinions on the topic should cell phones be used in schools. My opinion is Yes cell phones should be used in school. Why? well they are used in so many good ways such as doing work on the phones. Meanwhile there are many ways they can used in a bad way such as using them to go on social media during class. And this is why I think cell phones should be used in school.
Ever since I have been in high school, increasing amounts of people have acquired cell phones. They are causing more disturbances in school because of the cellular devices. Students are using them to harass other individuals. There should be a phone provided for students to make important calls. And lastly, cell phones have even opened new doors for cheaters. There’s really no good reason for a student to use their cell phone during school hours.
One reason that cell phones should be banned from classrooms is because students who use them fall into a daze of distracted learning. Classes are taught by teachers, whose goal is to give the student an educational experience, learning things they will need to apply to their later life. However, students on their cellphones are distracted from their learning and never use the lessons taught. Over 2,000 cellphone disturbances were reported in New York City in the past school year (Backstory). This means that over 2,000 people had issues with cellphones interrupting classroom discussi...
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
Now we're in a pickle! Should students be allowed to use their phones during school hours? Cell phones are one of the most important thing's people use today. Cell phones are stuck to people like glue. In the U.S. today, billions of people have cell phones.
Schools should allow cell phones in schools for children's protection and safety. Secondly, cell phones can keep you connected with your buddies. Instead of screaming, and yelling in the halls to ask your buddy for books, you can simply call them on your cell phone. Some students ask themselves, "If teachers are allowed to use cell phones in class?"... ...
Children and Technology, do parents have a reason to be concerned? As technology expands, so do the concerns of the effects it has on children. Technology has put a lot of strain on relationships between elementary children. Many are addicted to the internet/technology. Often, kids nowadays grow up choosing to use phones, Ipads, and computers instead of going outside and being active. According to Pew Internet Project survey, “eighty-seven percent of teachers felt modern technologies were creating an easily distracted generation.” Why would people want an easily distracted generation? Technology should be a huge concern of parents and be monitored closely so kids can learn communications skills with others, compassion and social skills.
Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it creates more drama, and it promotes cheating. Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson.
One reason cell phones should be allowed in the classroom is for the safety of students.serious emergencies, like a school threat or shooting, cell phones could help students connect with worried parents. In just 11 weeks 17 school shootings have happened Cell phones can be used by students to report any emergency; students can contact their parents if the school has closed because of a natural disaster or any other abrupt cause. This means that cell phones in the classroom could mean no more worrying parents and the safety of many of children at school.
Students can’t go a normal school day without even checking their phones in their lockers. You see kids sticking their heads inside their lockers, which probably means they are playing on it during school or texting another person. Cell phones should not be allowed in class during the school day hours because it can cause a distraction, bullying, and cheating. First of all, students shouldn’t be able to have their electronics or phone in class because it can cause bullying.
Cell phones have only been in the picture for a short amount of time compared to how long people have been going to school but cell phones are everywhere now and make it difficult for schools to come up with what to do. As many believe they are a distraction and can be used for cheating and other negative stuff. There are also people that are highly in favor of having cellphones as they can be helpful with all the tools they provide and people who are not and it 's all about who makes a better argument. Cell phones used to just have communication abilities but that is far gone now you have the abilities to use apps and different functions that fit nicely into a school environment. Cell phones should be allowed in the classroom as cell phones provide positive benefits and are a helpful tool in learning.
But this is why cell phones should be allowed in school. According to Ken Royal he believes that cell phones should belong in school. “I know all the reasons not to use cell phones—from radiation to thumb injuries—but computer lab electromagnetic field readings and carpal tunnel haven't stopped more traditional computing, either.” (Royal Par.
Given the unquestionable results regarding the use of cell phones by students in school there should not be a ban on the cell phones in schools. This is because students can learn to enhance their learning from the technology such as the cell phone. Students will also become more independent in their work and more motivated to learn. Students like being permitted to making their own choices.
Have you ever been out in public, and thought about the multitude of people using cell phones around you? Have you ever thought about how inappropriate it is to use them in certain circumstances? The use of cell phones has been banned in countless restaurants and there are restrictions regarding them in many work places. In the same way, cell phones are being banned in many schools. The principal of my high school has banned the use of cell phone during school hours. I believe he has good reason to do so. Using cell phones during school could be the cause of enormous distractions. In addition, it would make it easier for students to cheat, and it is possible that there would be more bullying within the school. Therefore, I firmly agree with my principal’s decision to prohibit the use of cell phones during school.
Many schools are now making new rules or guidelines to improve the educational impact that school has on students. One of these new rules or guidelines is a ban on cell phones during school hours. This new guideline upsets many students that use cell phones because they feel that it takes away their freedom. It is a privilege, not a right, that those students even have cell phones, and they are abusing their privilege tremendously. This new guideline is a superior guideline to follow, and in the long run, students will realize how this ban affected their learning experience. Cell phones should be ultimately banned for a number of reasons. Cell phones are a distraction to other students, it is a major distraction to the student with the cell phone, and there are phones in the school that students can use whenever they need.
