Ring Ring, Buzz Buzz. Someone’s phone may go off in class and can cause a serious distraction to everyone around them. Cells phones in class has been becoming more and more popular over the years. Students are becoming more interested in their phones than they are in class. Teens say “But I need my phone, don’t take it away.” You don’t necessarily need a phone. You can definitely go about 7-8 hours a day without it.
Students check their phones more than 11 times a day. Which therefore means they would check it a ton during school. Students can’t go a normal school day without even checking their phones in their lockers. You see kids sticking their heads inside their lockers, which probably means they are playing on it during school or texting another person.

Boy and girls are playing music out loud when someone is trying to work, and it’s just difficult. Students spend more or about 20% of their class time playing or constantly checking their phones (Oxford). Others are trying to learn and have a good education but that’s difficult when others are doing something that you believe to be super distracting. An Academy in Winterbourne said that ever since they banned phones in school their exam and test scores have gone up by 6% (Time Article). Which to be honest is a ton. Cell phones are distracting kids in their education. Their test scores are going down while they have them. Even when students are studying they are still constantly distracted by their phones. That’s why phones should be taken away/put away during
The chief argument against cell phone usage in school is that they are a disruption. I would agree with the fact that people who have those disgustingly loud rap music-blaring ring tones can be quite annoying, but how often do you actually HEAR somebody's cell phone go off in class?
Buzzzzzzzzzz! Another cellphone is going off in the middle of class, causing her to blush and discreetly check her new text message. A virtual conversation is buzzing back and forth inside one classroom and into the classroom across the hall, having a discussion about the party that night or the lipstick color chosen at the mall. In another classroom, a student posts the answers to the English exams on her profile page, allowing all of her buddies to read and use for their time of the exam. There are multiple examples of students using their cell phones during class time to communicate their thoughts, images of their environment or dangerous crimes. In addition, the percentage of students with cellphones now soars to about 80% (Ban). This highly increases the chance for students to have a cell phones on them during school. Cell phones can also be harmful to students during class, taking them into another world of technology, separated from the classroom, and turning them down a road of decisions they never intended on doing. Overall, cell phones alter classroom learning in a negative way, and should be banned from use in the classroom at all schools.
Firstly, cell phones are a useful object when needed in an emergency. When parents need to contact their kids, they would have access to talk with them on their cell phones. People say "But there's phones in the office", So? What if office staff are out for lunch? What if the emergency happens at their parent’s work place? So, what would they do? Go out and look for them? Cell phones are very useful in that situation! If an emergency happens how would their kids know when to turn their phones on? So, a good comprise would be to turn on your phone and set it on vibrate. Schools should allow cell phones in school for children's protection and safety.
Kids should be able to keep their phones out in school because they might need to contact someone out of school. The mayor of New York(Bill de Blasio) changed the policy of having phones in school because
It’s not a reasonable defense for using cell phones. You can spend time for your cell phones at home. I can say that students must always be busy in the classroom, they all have their works to do instead of connecting with peers in other countries. Why don’t they use their own time to do that? That skill doesn’t need teachers to teach you how, but teachers are really necessary for explaining other lessons. As I know, today’s children probably don’t need teachers for their digital devices, most of them learn by themselves.
Dear Principal Warren, I think that cell phones should be banned from schools because during an emergency phones can make the crisis even bigger, because it’s a distraction, and because kids can cheat off their phones. If you ever given a kid a phone you know that everything else in the world is nothing. So when you want to lift the cell phone ban, you might want to think twice. One reason cell phones should be banned from school is because it can make an emergency even bigger. For example say there’s a fire.
Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it creates more drama, and it promotes cheating. Cell phones should not be allowed in schools because kids are always wondering what their friends are doing and what is happening outside of school. If they have access to their phones all day, then they will be glued to them. Phones are more entertaining than a teacher lecturing at the front of the class. Most students will start to zone out, or fall asleep, when a teacher starts a lesson.
What if you could have your phone out in class and not get in trouble for it, instead it be encouraged for you to have it out. Phones can be a benefit and there not just a distraction. Although some students may use social media or play games in class this can be monitored. Phones should be aloud out in class for the many benefits it brings to students and teachers. One benefit being is, it can be used as a dictionary or a source of research.
The 1st period bell rings, school has begun. To my right students are checking their Snapchat stories, and on the left I see others liking pictures on Instagram. “Ring, Ring” there goes my phone! Cell phones are a major distraction to students in school. Others may argue that phones benefit students, because they can be used to look up information.
Although some schools does not allow students to have their phone on in school, we could possibly change that; it’ll be safer for the students and parents, easier for students to connect to school work, and easier for teachers to get stuff from students without losing it. First, it'll be safer for the students to have their cell phones so parents can contact them if something bad happens. If there was an emergency at school you have your phone in your hand to easily contact your parents. Mayor Bill De Blasio championed the policy change, saying that “He thought it was important for parents to be able to easily contact their kids”.
Distractions and safety issues are the reason cell phones should not be used in schools. Cell Phones are a distraction to most students and this damages the education process. The number one issue students get distracted with would have to be texting. Texting is why most students even bring their cell phone into the classroom . Most students complain they get bored with learning, so instead of listening
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
My first reason why kids should be allowed to access their phones while in school because,as a Student it is sometimes hard to be focused in at the classroom because you’re tired plus the classroom is probably really loud. Many times before i have been really tired or the classroom has been really noisy and i put in some head phones and turned on some music and that’s the best time when i focus. According to www.uloop.com they said “ Kids who listen to music while studying get more out of the study time, And listening to music can help anxiety and depression.” sure listening to music may distract others from work but for the kids who study better with music should be able to, We all know for sure that a lot of people have really bad anxiety and maybe some depression. So if music helps with anxiety, depression, helps you focus, work harder then more teachers need to allow music it helps kids a lot.
Cell phone to build attraction in a classroom setting because of the social media is a big distraction. Every single one of their cell phones are connected to the network and because of that they get the notifications only instantly which can cause a distraction. The
Many schools are now making new rules or guidelines to improve the educational impact that school has on students. One of these new rules or guidelines is a ban on cell phones during school hours. This new guideline upsets many students that use cell phones because they feel that it takes away their freedom. It is a privilege, not a right, that those students even have cell phones, and they are abusing their privilege tremendously. This new guideline is a superior guideline to follow, and in the long run, students will realize how this ban affected their learning experience. Cell phones should be ultimately banned for a number of reasons. Cell phones are a distraction to other students, it is a major distraction to the student with the cell phone, and there are phones in the school that students can use whenever they need.
