How much authority do cell phones really have on students? To some people, a whole school day without a phone is like living in jail. To others, it is like having a weight lifted off their shoulders. There is a question being asked worldwide. Should students be allowed to have cell phones throughout the school day? Teachers and administrators are struggling to choose the right answer. Students should not be allowed to use phones during school schedules. One important reason students should not be able to have cell phones out of school is that cheating can take place. During tests, students can be sneaky and take pictures of test information. Students can them forward the picture to their peers that have not been to that particular class. Some teachers and administrators may argue against this because students can just turn in all of their cellular devices to the adult in the room until after the quiz is finished. On the contrary, some kids might keep their phones in private. …show more content…
Fellow peers can use the power of their cell phones to bring others down. Many apps can cause bullying during school hours while on a school campus. Kids can take photographs of others during class. They then proceed to write very harmful comments on them and post for the world to see. To other students, this a complete nightmare. They can get really hurt by all of the negativity. The previous actions lead to bullied students not trying in school anymore and purposely trying to make bad grades. Snapchat is a huge app used for bullying in current times. It is an app where they can take pictures and post them on their "story." A story consists of people that a person adds. Other apps like Twitter and Instagram can cause the same thing. Cyberbullying can even take place. As sad as it sounds, some students place pictures of each other on the enormous
Many kids younger than the age of one have an iphone of some kind of social media device, which means they aren't getting a real childhood and playing outside with others and aren't learning as much from life.
1 The right age to get a cellphone is when you get 17 or 18 in high school. Some parents buy their child phones such as iphones, samsung, tracphone, and ipad for to call them when ever needed. Have you ever heard of the gruesome Columbine High School massacre? This incident occurred on April 20th 1999 and involved two students embarking on a shooting rampage, killing twelve students, a teacher and wounding twenty three others. Unfortunately during this incident, the school's most easily accessible phone was on the other side of the school in the library. Perhaps some of these lives could have been saved if the students in this class had cell phones that they could've used to contact the authorities more quickly. The issue we are addressing today is the use of cellular devices in educational facilities. I believe that cell phone use is of extreme convenience, and has academically beneficial aspects, among it's so called "faults".
I think that cell phones should be aloud in school during school hours. One of the reasons for that is because they actually have more benefits to the kids than most think. The second reason is the number of cells phones are reason and the use of them are more and more so why keep trying to fight it. There are two counter arguments but both of them are weak.
Why should phones be allowed in classroom? Phones should be allowed in classroom because they help in a lot of ways. Also our phones are with us 24/7. We don’t just use it for texting people or calling or on social media. They should be allowed in class because they keep us quiet at times. We get to listen to music while doing our work. Phones are in our everyday life.
Picture this, there has been a school lockdown, the suspect cut the landlines so no one could call the police for a rescue. However, the suspect was captured by the police much faster than he imagined. The last scene wouldn’t have happened if it was one decade ago, because cell phones were not popular in schools then. When it comes to cell phones, some people think they should not be permitted in schools, and other people think they should be permitted in schools. I agree with the latter opinion for the following reasons: Cell phones are an efficient way to communicate when emergencies occur in school; cell phones can be a great tool for learning during school hours; and the current prohibitive rules on cell phones are merely fruitless efforts. Cell phones should be permitted in schools, because they could be very beneficial and practical in schools.
Should students be able to use cell phones during class periods? This is a question a lot of students and parents have asked themselves. The invention of cell phones started a debate for many schools. Many schools accept the use of cell phones but experience a lot of frustration over them. There are many reasons for and against the use of cell phones in schools. People who support cell phone use in schools are usually teenagers. People who disagree with cell phone use in schools are usually teachers or parents, who think cell phones are a distraction. A lot of students see cell phones as a useful device but many see them as a distraction during class. Throughout this essay you'll read about the pros and cons regarding cell phones usage. Overall, this essay will attempt to argue that students should be allowed full use of their cell phones during school hours.
It’s not acceptable to use cell phones in class. Actually, using cell phones has more negative effects than positive. So, why do we need to change the policy that prohibits students from using cell phones in classrooms? In my opinion, I will say no, we shouldn’t change the policy that exists now - no cell phone use, under any circumstances.
Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. Cellphones regard the attention of building managers, teachers, parents, and students. Although teachers see them as a distraction and a way to cheat, they can be quite helpful to students. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves a sense of security.
Ring, ring, ring. All teens know what that sound means; a cell or text. Teachers know this sound too, because they hear it in their classes every day. Some teachers think that teens shouldn’t have phones, even to help with classwork. The reasons why teens shouldn’t have phones in class is because not everyone is going to get the some data, not everyone will get the right data, and they are too dependent on them.
Schools are starting to make a decision on if students should have their phone on in school. It’s a fifty-fifty chance... Which side would you choose? Some students get distracted by having their phone on because when they get text message or social media notifications their first instinct is to go check it and text back. Teacher, Miriam Morgenstern is frustrated with students and their cell phones because the tweeting, snapchatting, and texting is a big distraction and it’s even harder for her to teach.
More than 76% of schools in the United States allow cell phones in the school and allow students to use them at their convenience. Cell phones can be used anywhere and anytime, including the school. Most schools don’t have a cell phone policy during classes, lunches, and locker breaks. I disagree with having cell phones in school because not everyone has a cell phone, students will get distracted from their work, and cell phones will have a higher probability of going off in class. Even though cell phones are great to use, they shouldn’t be used during school.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
The first reason to support that mobile phones should be banned in schools is that devices can be used to cheating for instance, text friends about answers during a test, take picture of test questions with mobile phones to send to friends, search the internet to answers during a test, and store information on mobile phones to look at during a test. It is suggested by Benenson Strategy Group (2008) indicated that 65 per c...
