What has been your experience and major contribution(s) in improving race relations with groups other than your own within your school or community and why is diversity and inclusion important to you?

I am often the only black person in the classes I attend, so I try to act in a manner that helps portray African Americans in a positive light. Although I haven’t lead any big race relations rallies or made clubs for equality, I act in a manner that shows that people of different races can get along. I try to be respectful of people from different backgrounds. I make a point of learning about different backgrounds. Whenever I see a chance to correct ignorance, I do. I strongly believe in making sure all humans can get along.
The world is full of different cultures, many of which are found in America. I try to lead my life keeping in mind that not everyone has had the same background as me. I do not try to impose my beliefs over someone else's, especially if their beliefs stem from a national or religious thought system. I am taking a cultural studies in my current school because I believe other cultures outside my own are worth learning. In my cultural studies class I have learnt about a lot of world cultures. I learnt about the many asian, hispanic, jewish, Appalachian, and middle eastern cultures. I have made friends with many people from all over the world. I have learnt firsthand about the italians fondness of swearwords. I have heard about the beauty of the indonesian landscape. I have tasted india’s lesser known delicacies and compared how the India’s and Nigeria's educational systems are similar. I listened to an middle eastern muslim talk about how proud she is of her custom despite all the negativity she faces. Her experiences are one of the main reasons I try to inform
