The word intelligent is one of my favorite words, the word is significantly powerful. Intelligent is when you have a clever perspective on a subject or thing. To me, I would say that intelligent means being a master of a subject or having a brighter understanding of many things, but there’s more to it. I personally don’t think that being intelligent is all about going to school or being a scholar. There are countless of intelligent people who have impacted our world, both positively and negatively, both intellectual and nonintellectual.
I believe that being intelligent is becoming very clever at a task. Depending on the society you grew up in or involve in currently can have an influence on how you view being intelligent is. Where I come from

Let’s take Albert Einstein, for instance, he was labeled very slow and couldn’t speak fluently in his early years. He was expelled for not respecting the authority of the school he attended. Back then people would have labeled him unintelligent due to his behavior and skills he lacks. But how ironic, now to this day he is revered as one of the smartest people that have ever lived. His desire to understand physics at a very high level of intelligence earned him a Nobel Prize. Einstein with his knowledge help expanded the link between mass and energy with his famous equation (E = mc^2). He also helped mankind better understand that time and motion are relative to their observers under two conditions, the speed of light remains constant and that natural laws are the same throughout the universe. For example, not only was Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. both were very intelligent people, but they were also emotionally intelligent and had wisdom. Because of such wisdom, they were able to encourage people to follow their cause, which has changed the world as we know it today. Emotionally intelligent can aptly be applied to leadership, which is a tactic used to liberate the people India from British in Gandhi cause, and the African Americans in the south involving Martin Luther King Jr. Although it may seem like common sense, no one else thought of it; don’t accept mistreatment, don’t promote or spend your hard-earned money on companies or industries that are against you. That’s actually what Rosa Parks demonstrated when she refused to leave her seat for her white counterpart in 1955 and that resulted in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. To be intelligent means to be able to apply what we learned in school and use what we learned in our everyday life to achieve a goals that is sit or one that we are accomplishing without knowing. Many people think that a person is intelligent because they went to a university, got a degree, and have a good paying job, so they must be smart and know everything however thats not always true. If we would ask a teacher or professor the chances of them knowing how to fix a car are slim. So why do we think teachers are so intelligent? We think teachers are intelligent because they know everything about their subjects, know how to teach it and know how to apply their knowledge to their everyday lives.
That notion, happens to be the way Albert Einstein was perceived throughout his whole childhood. Future generations find this ironic because they know of his later accomplishments, but Einstein spent a majority of his life believed to be rather incompetent. He didn’t speak his first word until the age of four, and it wasn’t until the age of nine he could speak fluently. Most people thought he had a mild learning disability, and teachers described him as slow. His grades reflected indifference and he was expelled for “rebellious behavior.” Einstein was refused admittance to his dream school, Zurich Polytechnic. Not to mention when he finally found a school that would accept him, his grades were poor and his professors never took him seriously. From day one, no one had any high expectations for him, and he was destined to be a dropout selling door-to-door life insurance. Yes, he even considered it at one point. Nevertheless, Einstein graduated. Depending on the perspective in this story, one might call his success in later years sheer luck based on his childhood. Yet, it wasn’t luck, but endurance. I am a very smart person and think that begin smart gets me places in my career goals. I can be imaginative at times and come up with some really neat things. Like making shoes and neat clothes for my grandbabies. I am always wondering about different things and find it neat to learn different things.

Most researchers believe that we are born with a certain intelligence or potential intelligence. They also believe that the intelligence we are born with is difficult to change. One of the most definitive things ever said regarding the nature of intelligence was that intelligence is whatever IQ tests measure. The IQ test has been in use throughout the 20th century and serves as an accepted measure of a person’s intelligence. It is used by institutions such as schools and the army to screen people’s level of intelligence and decisions are made based on that. The IQ test consists of a series of questions regarding certain skills such as vocabulary, mathematics, spatial relations. The scores that a person gets on these tests depend on the amount of questions that a person answers correctly. The actual score that a person gets is dependant on how others in that age group do on those particular questions.

According to Merriam Webster Intelligence is "the ability to learn or understand things or to deal with new or difficult situations." Howard Gardener discovered the theory multiple intelligence they are musical, kinetic, linguistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, spatial, logical, and existential intelligence. Unlike the normal school setting, Gardner’s theory helps with student’s learning abilities by focusing on their strengths. Gardner believes that understanding these multiple intelligent theories will help students strengthen their knowledge.
To be a good leader you must be strong-minded, but more importantly you have to be intelligent. Someone who is smart can back up his or her statements with fact. If someone is intelligent people are more likely to listen to their ideas before someone who is less intelligent. If one is intelligent they have the ability to instruct a group properly. And if one is intelligent they can organize all of the groups projects better the a less intelligent person.
